Etihad Airways (Arabic: شَرِكَة ٱلْاِتِّحَاد لِلطَّيْرَان, romanized: sharikat al-ittiḥād li-ṭ-ṭayarān) is the national airline of the United Arab Emirates and one of the country's two major airlines (the other being Emirates). The Airbus A380 is a large wide-body airliner that was developed and produced by Airbus. It is the world's largest passenger airliner and only full-length double-deck jet airliner. Airbus studies started in 1988, and the project was announced in 1990 to challenge the dominance of the Boeing 747 in the long-haul market. The then-designated A3XX project was presented in 1994; Airbus launched the €9.5 billion ($10.7 billion) A380 programme on 19 December 2000. The first prototype was unveiled in Toulouse on 18 January 2005, with its first flight on 27 April 2005. It then obtained its type certificate from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on 12 December 2006.

Wow, I've never felt poorer in my life. First time I ever had heated nuts was on a United domestic flight in the US and it was amazing! I did win an upgrade to business with Air Canada returning from Buenos Aires (12hrs to Montreal), but I was too sick to really enjoy it. Given my stomach issues from traveling to a new country, it surely was a better experience than the premium economy seat I originally booked. Thanks for the content, Dan. I would LOVE to have a flight like that for a good 12hr trip.

I just stepped out of the Etihad A380 First Class Apartments in London for my upcoming report - and I have a feeling that, summing up all details and parts of it (except for the lounge), this is now the best first class in the world. Comparing with the competition in the Arab Peninsula, and also Singapore Airlines First Class Suites and Cathay First Class. They simply offer it all..... (however, not the excellent wines that only Emirates has)

hay Dan, pro tip: to remove the flicker of the lights in your videos, like when recording the lounge, you can (should) switch the recording from 50 to 60 fps or vice-versa, basically switching the video framerate from PAL (Europe and most of the world) to NTSC (America and Japan, mostly).

Some people actually prefer hard sleeping surfaces, so the bed would probably appeal to many. That suite is impressive, and almost a crime to only deploy it on a 6 hour flight.

It is very hard. I have a firm mattress at home, but the Etihad bed is like a rock. I stopped flying the Etihad apartment for this reason, as brilliant as the rest of the experience is.

I always feel like the lounge/mini bar is wasted on Business/First class. Why not make it available to premium economy and economy as they would most definitely be looking to get up and stretch their legs. Why would you get up from your comfy, private space to go "hang out" in a lounge?

You actually can invite people from coach into your apartment in first depending on the airline. I had a man do that once back in the day. We became friends in line and he sent the flight attendant to bring me up during the flight. I'm not sure if it's allowed but it does happen!

Love it. ONE! I still remember your last trip in the Etihad Suite and it’s a relief there was no catastrophe this time. Funny, if I’m correct, that your had the same suite for this flight. The hard bed was an issue five years. I’m wondering, with several suites empty, if it might have helped to have a blanket beneath you. The loss of chef is normally not a huge deal, but the chef on your last flight was a highlight of the journey. All in all, another fascinating video. Great to see you made it through Heathrow to the UAE without incident!

Heathrow is great when flying Virgin Atlantic with the private check in wing for Upper Class check and the amazing lounge. And I imagine it's great when flying business with BA and access to BA'a awesome lounges

Last time I flew into Heathrow and my first time flying into T5 was insane. I flew in from Innsbruck after a skiing holiday and my parents had skis. So I went to the oversized baggage at the arrivals hall, it seemed that there was about 5 across the whole hall. It then came off the regular baggage carrousel. We where never told.

Had the honor of the Appartement on a trip SYD-AUH-CDG before the pandemic, best experience ever, I slept 7 hours! especially on a really long leg from about 12-13hours. I don’t understand why nowadays the A380 from etihad is only operated from LHR-AUH. Way too short…

Could you please tell me who in the world wants all this that this offered on a 6 hour flight, and who in hell wants all that poncy food that is offered, normal high end restaurant food is more in line with customer requirement, bloody shower on a 6 hour flight god you are only a little while from your hotel or airport shower room for a more reasonable price. It just goes to show how some people have so little sense of money and how many routes can this layout fly to make economical sense to the airline.

for people like dan, its more of a hobby than anything. some other people prefer their flights to be comfortable, and others just want it to be cheap. it’s like saying why do children want toys when its just a waste of money, they just wanna have fun! dont worry about what others do with their money and just worry about yourself :)

The only major problem with The Apartment is the flight time. 12+ hours would be so much better to enjoy The Experience!

Make economy smaller and smaller, then make Business and First class bigger and bigger. I would definitely choose fast bullet train instead of any flight less than 2 hours.
