I honestly can't QUITE agree with the "it plays it safe" interpretation. I thought so at first, but ever since realizing that all characters play differently, I honestly feel like this WarioWare has the most diversity for a single player. At first I thought "you just play the Microgames by flying into things and pressing a with different character skins", but each Microgame even having completely unique variations how you beat them for different types of characters... I think that's genius and honestly refreshing! Because of my misinterpretation, I first wasn't particulary interested in the game, but upon trying the Demo, I was hooked and got it right away. I certainly would've also liked it if they went further into "using the unique nature of the Joy-Cons", depending on how they would've tackled that I might've even preferred that, but I really love what we got and think it might be my favourite WarioWare yet. (I have played all except for Gold, the tilt-one and technically the GC one, even though that one's just a enhanced port of the GBA one IIRC?)

I give the game an 8/10 It's good. The microgames were awesome, I just wish they were longer. Seeing the Nintendo-designed ones from 9-volt was my favorite! :P

I give it a 9/10. Fun and lengthy (for WarioWare) story mode, the player switching mechanic is so smart and fun, lots of couch-co-op side games and single player side games,the missions are so varied and goofy, the character customization great, overall an awesome experience. My only complaint is that the voice acting feels held back and sometimes make the cutscenes feel held back. Overall, I loved it!

let's be honest warioware isn't known for its story length, but more over its replayability.

Game is fun. But I feel like some characters have the same mechanics similar or better than the other.

I would love to see a sequel on the switch that has the multiple characters, but with the girth and content of gold

The best thing of this game probably is the opurtunity of playing with a friend at the same time, I try the demo with my cousin and had a lot of fun

i admit, this WarioWare game looks funny and i already played the DEMO. but i still prefer the "Wario Land" games. i still play the Wario Land 4 on my Gameboy Advance SP. :D

Game was lots of fun, but the multiplayer modes are horrible... why can't we just have a last man standing mode? where it cycles through the 4 people playing to see who survives the longest

Can this game be played in handheld mode? Or is it like that poor excuse of a Mario party where you simply couldn't and needed to play on tv with detached controllers?

I was kind of disappointed when I saw the mechanics of the new game. My favorite entry in the series is Smooth Moves. The scenes with the narrator showing you different ways to hold the remote were hilarious. I thought the switch would be able to expand on that so much more with the joy cons and their advanced hardware. Now this is a game I can play lying in bed.

I still remember when wario had it own games with adventures stages and bosses. Is that not a thing anymore with this franchise? Just tons of mini games?

While I agree with most of this review, the line alone "plays it safe" is something I can't really see myself agreeing with. The game took some risks by not only changing the basic gameplay mechanics, but also changing the overall formula of the series by not using any of the console's gimmicks this time around. They decided to finally change "what you play" instead of "how you play", as they usually do, and that's super risky and has heavy implications if done wrong. I'd rather change the phrase for something more like "it takes a few steps backwards in content". While I do enjoy feeding my characters with random stuff, it is true that the lack of collectable toys gives a little sense of emptiness to the whole package. Still, this is a pretty great Warioware game, and sadly, as usual, most of the Warioware games are stuck with scores of 7.
