I was born in 1972, grew up in the 1980's. Most of the best years, best memories of my life are from that magical decade. Even those older than me (parents age) agree. The 80's is a past that still feels like it's in the future. The 80's feels new even 35-40 years on. The 80's makes me feel young, it makes me look forward to years in life I no longer have in front of me. It makes me miss a girl that I've never met. It makes me believe in a future that's already passed me by. It's the impossible dream that still feels within reach.....

that's anemoia. very common for kids in the 90s who experienced the cultural legacy of the 80s. it was the golden age of almost all arts and entertainment across the spectrum. it was right when the conservatives took back control socially and culturally from the progressives, if only momentarily, and there was that period of perfect balance. the economy stabilized and grew, crime was abating, religion was returning, and it gave everyone more leisure and time to focus their creative energy and vision.

I've been teaching, for twenty two years, and each year, these kids get more and more arrogant. Carl: Aw bullshit, man. Come on Vern, the kids haven't changed, you have! You took a teaching position, 'cause you thought it'd be fun, right? Thought you could have summer vacations off and then you found out it was actually work and that really bummed you out. Vernon: These kids turned on me. They think I'm a big ****in' joke. Carl: Come on...listen Vern, if you were sixteen, what would you think of you, huh? Vernon: Hey, Carl, you think I give one rat's ass what these kids think of me? Carl: Yes, I do. Vernon: You think about this...when you get old, these kids; when I get old, they're gonna be runnin' the country. Carl: Yeah? I know this whole movie practicly by heart. Thankfully, I have it on DVD. I've seen it twenty times or more. It never gets old for me. Its an absolute classic. I also had a very similar experience when I was in school. I was born in the 70's and grew up in the 80's. I went to a high school that did the same kind of detention depicted in this movie. The music of the 80's is very powerful. The greatness of this movie cannot be overstated. I also miss the 80's just as much as anyone in my generation does. Its up to Generation X to keep the memories of the 80's alive as long as we can. I love this song. Thank you.

I wish I was born in the 70s. I was born in 1997 but I have a heart that's much older (feels like it anyways). I watched the breakfast club as a part of a English class dissection project in high school and everyone in the class was moved by the movie. I like movies/songs that are around the 80's time period (top gun and the karate kid trilogy as an example are among my favorites). I'll keep the 80's sound alive bud, and pass it down to my kids if I'm ever lucky enough to have any. Count on it ✌✊.

When you grow up your heart dies Who cares? I care When you grow up your heart dies (ooh, ooh, ooh) Just keep holding that secret code by your side Somebody call, somebody call it (don't go) Don't let it go, don't let it go (just stay) Without somebody to hold, without somebody (ooh) I just need that body (ooh) You're on fire The way you dance with the devil tonight You're on fire You got that last dance look in your eyes Just like a movie Don't let your heart die Don't let your heart die Don't let your heart die Hey temptation, escape with me (ooh, ooh, ooh) Just some flashing lights and some tire smoke is all that we need Somebody call, somebody call it (don't go) Don't let it go, don't let it go (just stay) Without somebody to hold, without somebody (ooh) I just need that body (ooh) You're on fire The way you dance with the devil tonight You're on fire You got that last dance look in your eyes Just like a movie Don't let your heart die Don't let your heart die Don't let your heart die You're on fire Just like a movie A suicide of a perfect mind Promise, don't let your heart die Whatever will be, will be Don't care what anyone else thinks You'll be okay, I promise Just keep on keeping on It's just a bad day, not a bad life I'll always be there for you I swear the breath from my lungs You'll feel it when you know Life is worth the risk Live long and prosper Believe in yourself and create your own destiny Don't fear failure Keep running on Just hold on Just fight on Until the sun goes down Just remember when you grow up your heart dies Don't ever give up Everything worth doing is hard The only time that matters is right now It's okay to feel lost Live life to the full because you never know what's around the corner So let's take a part of the world and make it our own Don't let the bastards grind you down You saved me Keep running on Just hold on Just fight on Until the sun goes down Just remember when you grow up your heart dies There's no fate but what we make for ourselves We always have each other Keep your head up, kid Always fear regret more than failure Stay true to yourself There is still good in the world Expect nothing and appreciate everything It was all worth it The sun never sets on your dreams

I was born in 93 but I grew up with so many 80s things. I listened to the radio a lot as a kid and a lot of 80s music still played. During my childhood the 80s was barely 10 years gone. It was still pretty relevent. I watched the Masters of the Universe, listened to 80s hits, most of my family still drove cars from the 80s, i played with toys from the 80s. I didnt live through the 80s but i got to experience a lot of the sweet leftovers anyways. I wish i couldve been born just a little earlier. The 80s was the best decade! Music and pop culture came alive. People were happier. Life was simpler. Music like this gives hope that the 80s isnt lost yet. It can come back.

I was so blessed to be born in the late 1960s. The 1980s were by far the best decade to be a teenager. Thank you, younger generations for bringing back, supporting, and keeping this time-period alive. I promise you, it was not lost of any of us then, and when friends and I get together now, we sometimes lament that teens today don't experience the avalanche -- practically daily -- of new music, movies, and magazines that were not just game-changers for us as people, but -- as we know now -- modern cultural influence going forward. GUNSHIP perfectly captures all of that.

Yep. I’m 28, so still “young” in many respects, but it’s true. That spark of childhood wonderment and joy has slowly drained away over the years. It’s the worst thing in the world.

My dad unexpectedly died over a year ago from covid. I first heard this song after he was intubated I listened and the ending lyrics broke my heart. "Keep running on, just hold on, keep fighting on.. til the sun goes down" I listened over and over praying f and pleading for him.

Amanda your dad may not be physically in front of you but always remember your genetic code has a huge part of your dad in you. His spirit will be with you everyday. Im sure you hurt real bad, but your dads strengths will help you stand strong each day. I believe the end of life is a door to a new beginning that we don’t see. You have to live each and everyday with vigour, you are the author of your own life story. Go out an create a great story each day that your dad would of loved to hear about . The song says create ur own destiny so please do it . Listen to the words of the song You are a one hell of a special person no one is the same as another on this planet So when down Listen to the song when u need strength . Have a great life young lady you deserve it , smile when u can cry when you have to

@@deannicol omg thank you. My dad saved me 2 months ago. I was driving on interstate in Utah and hit a power cable (which had been weakened by wind storms going through that day). At 85mph my car spun into the barrier and rolled. I walked away with a boxer cut above my left eye. I would not have had my seatbelt on if it weren't for a strong impression or feeling which said 'you might want to wear it this one time'. Dumbo me- right? I never wore my seatbelt- always had the dumb belief that if I was in a bad accident then 'I hope I die- don't want to live through that'. I was on my way down to Utah for cancer tx. Oh my friends. There is so much more to fear than death. I am so grateful for the strong feeling that pervaded through me that day... I'm grateful for my dad. I know he was with me.

1. I love retro electron synth music like this. 2. yes, I am 45 and when you grow up, your heart dies. For the youth watching this video, never forget how you feel right now, today. It's inevitable, we all lose innocence and that "feeling of youth". When you grow up, nostalgia will kill you.

Yes then the anxiety and fear came. There is a carefree vibe in the 80s you would never find even after. I was a teen in the 90s and it's a whole different mood even though I love it also, it's just not as carefree.

The bitter truth, when you grow up your heart die. Kids, enjoy every second because the time fly so fast, and never comes back. Really miss the old times, a real freedom, good friends, street life, no social media, no smartphones, just good stories, good moments and happy memories. Give me time machine to travel to the past, and promise I stay there, amazing times

But now when i listen to this song i cry tears of joy, knowing that i make my own future and that there is still hope for me and my life....those were hard times, but..."the sun never sets on your drams"...

As an 80's kid and 42 now, I still feel like that kid growing up in the best decade. Even tho our bodies age, we must keep our minds and hearts young no matter what hard times we have to get thru. Thanks to this kind of music I feel like I never aged thus I'm enjoying every moment of my life. This song should be the hymn of the 80's.

#lyrics When you grow up your heart dies Who cares?
