How I installed a NEB belt drive & clutch to my BSA B31, this was a challenge as the kit came without instructions! I did need to shim the pulley out by 3.8mm although this is not shown in the video.
Still need to road test to see if clutch pressure is correct but all seems OK on the bench. Also need to either refit the standard primary cover or fabricate a new one.

Lovely bike Ian. I really enjoyed this video, you explained your thought process very well. That's a nicely made conversion, unusual that it came with no direction or guidance. I was with you about thumping the crank, I'm glad you only had to do it once. Best wishes, Dean.

Thanks. Yes that pulley was a really tight fit! I guess they machine them close tolerance assuming the old crank splines will be worn... Which mine isn't. I probably should have tried fettling the pulley first.

Great vid thanks. I see there's no mini race/bearing on the mushroom/top hat end of the clutch pushrod. Is that correct?

That's how they come so I guess it must be correct

My 1340 Shovelhead has a belt drive primary and a Performance clutch both run dry never been any problem I fitted the clutch but not the belt so ? I also have a belt conversion for a 56 T110 not fitted yet but intend to run that dry also . I was thinking that as the primary does have a breatertube the filler plug could be vented but I wonder if at normal road speeds whether this is necessary. ?

I have read a lot of stuff in forums about venting but there does not seem to be any definitive answer. I think you just have to do what you believe is best in your situation, there are just too many variables!

Been trying to find a phone number for Bob Newbury clutches ? Whats your thoughts now you have it up and running please , iv got a B31 and an A10 i think they both need better clutches , there both on the old 6 spring type at the moment , is it worth it ? All the best bob r

Hi, Search for Bob Newby Racing on the net although this is a NEB clutch not a Bob Newby (very similar) and came from www.britishbikebits.com. So far so good, very good quality, only time will tell if it was worth the cost. Alternatively fit a 4 spring clutch (much better than the 6 spring) if you can find one!

I couldn't see any transmission shock absorber. Or did I miss something.

That's correct, no shock absorber, normal for racing. Just have to be careful for road use, slipping the clutch more than normal pulling away etc.
