@@tropfen I agree, but I think the existence of both LMDh and LMH at the same time is a bit redundant and brings up room for debate of unfairness. They should really just have allowed LMH to run at both IMSA and WEC and lower the budget for it
@tropfen
@tropfen 2 ай бұрын
@@iceblade019 oh for sure. I guess it was kind of a clash of ideologies to some extent. FIA/ACO being more focused on constructor racing and in the spirit of LMP1 with the technology first approach. And IMSA having the more customer and budget first spirit they already had with their DP and DPi classes. I personally prefer LMH for the uniqueness of the cars and technology but i cant deny that LMDh seems to be what is more financially interesting for both customers as well as constructors. Especially for the ones that want to use the races to get their name out and not to flex.

It depends on the new regulations in 2027. The comission responsible for those had shitty ideas for 2025, is obligated to do a very good job. Hope for the return of something like the 2 liters era with bigger cars. I think it also depends a little bit on their performance this year

It's only racing stateside because it's a product of HRC and Acura first and foremost, not the broader Honda motorsports department. I do agree that it'd be nice to see the ARX-06 in WEC, that bored-out Indycar V6 sounds nuts off throttle and it's one of the best-looking cars on the grid.

Zak Brown was hanging out in the Toyota garage at Le Mans. It’s hard to say what that means, but personally given he owns United Autosport, he may be trying position themselves into a customer Toyota program for IMSA rather than a Mclaren entry. They’re certainly weighing options, LMDh is cheap to enter but it may be more advantageous to operate a proven LMH chassis that may technically have a higher capacity for performance than LMDh

Here's a different approach... Instead of using Pipo as a supplier, what if Hyundai is working with them to develop a racing version of the Genesis engines, be it the V8 or the single/twin turbo V6. Remember, the rules state that it has to be of production basis of the manufacturer.

Or worse, what if they make a high performance SUV? Will it even be powered by an engine or will it be an EV since it would be a new brand and therefore they wouldn't have to worry about pissing off an existing fanbase by making an EV sports car?

@@aidamtabirao2811 If Glickenhaus and Isotta Fraschini can race Le Mans, then Koenigsegg and Pagani also can as well !! Regarding Bugatti, they are 55% Rimac and 45% Porsche! So they can like Porsche use Penske or Dallara, Porsche Engine + Rimac hybrid battery system! Also Bugatti can easily find rich sponsors (like Aramco for Aston Martin)!! Maserati can use Ferrari engine

@@joebeus6886 But Bugatti is a luxury brand more than anything. They don't care about competition.

If what you say in the video is indeed how things play out, they buy a fixed chassis and apply some Hyundai styling to it, stick an engine they had nothing to do with in it and call it a Hyundai, I am really underwhelmed what the regulations produce. If there is so little need or incentive to produce a race car themselves, this is more like Nascar. At least some teams develop their cars and engines themselves, and they are very much held back by BoP so that the more "lazy" competitors can be competitve too. Even if I don't want something like LMP1 with only 1 brand running, having set the point of entry for new teams so low, it also cheapens the series. Less critical fans may not know or care, but to me, I feel a bit torn by it.

Well, from the last le mans we can see that LMH still holds a massive advantage over LMDh at race pace

It's like AlfaRomeo in F1, just a sticker. Remember the time when manufacturers, even smaller ones did everything or mostly by themselves? If Hyundai does it the way you said then it's not a Hyundai

Oh great! Finally a Hypercar to hate on! I hope that this project would become a huge financial failure for Hyundai!
