I’m sure someone already said it, but the song Pippin sings is taken (slightly changed) from the first book when the hobbits are enjoying a bath. It’s kinda the last happy moment they have before the adventure really begins, so it’s interesting that it’s used in such a grim way in the movies.

I dont necessarily have a problem with games having pronoun options but i 100% dont buy these people who dedicate themselves to gender issues or video games piping up with "its just (x) bro who cares, its no big deal, look at how cool and aloof i am." Fr that's one problem I have with their games, but I think Fallout 4 did a little bit better with it since you're not looking straight at the characters.

Delighted to see this up so soon. I was worried after last week that it would be up later from now on, but I'm glad to see that's not the case. Pretty good stream, though understandably a bit quieter than usual. Glad to get a lot of Hunger Games discussion and more around YA, big sci-fi like Foundation and more.

On the stoic point i don't think stoicism is as prevalent in male characters as people may think. like Joel, Luke Skywalker (in the first two), Vincent Vega, Kratos, John McClane are some of the most popular characters around but for the most part arent stoic and when they are its usually at the end of their journey

I suspect part of the reason is the prevalence of the heroes journey structure. A stoic character isn’t going to apparently change much at all and may even be called boring to audiences. It would need to involve a story that isn’t focused on the main character but rather the world that is happening around them.

Starfield is so dull and personally i did want to land and take off. The whole space part of thus game is a let down. The story is also absent for me rn

1:57:35 Gollum is a whole story on its own. Yes, Germany funded it with, I think, 4 million euros. Daedalic was already a shithole beforehand that exploited trainees and interns. They had no experience in 3D or adventure games (they only made point-and-clicks up until then), and now they only administer their licenses and no longer produce games. Early access is essential for indie studios to finance their games when they don't want or can't get a publishing deal.

it has been 7 months and Starfield doesn't have a single DLC. I haven't seen anyone talk about it since the Az controversy. Say what you will about him, but his rant was the only thing anyone was talking about in relation to Starfield. Bethesda keep teasing Shattered Space yet we've seen nothing about it other than the name. Fallout 4's 1st DLC was released after 4 months, then a new DLC every month for 5 months. Granted a lot of them were just workshop shit, but Mechanist and Vault Tec at least had a little questline and the former had a fun new mechanic; Far Harbour and Nuka World were actually new maps to explore.

When it comes to Star Field, I liked the game but I thought the different story lines where to short. Also the exploration of all the different planets got really boring, it seems that Bethesda only had three different bases to plop out on the planets and it's the same three random bases, so after a while you know them by heart, you know exactly where the loot boxes are, you know exactly where the enemies are, and that gets really boring after a while.

Regarding Fallout, I love the Fallout games, my favs are 3 & New Vegas, and sure there are some fun glitches but at least you can play the game.

It just feels like they lied more than usual. They said what they had to to sell the game, and it didnt matter whether they ever planned to do it or not. Also Alannah went to a flat png in space after flying for 7 hours 🤣 the space part of this game is fucked, dont think Lofti is being very clear with that
