@@JayAllenification I don't think Brands wants to pull his redshirt. You can wrestle up to five matches without burning it and he's wrestled four. I think they use him at home against Penn State at 184.

If you are a recruit out there watching and reading this, and you watched PENN STATE and IOWA tonight. Which program would you want to go to to develop as a wrestler. Look no farther than what PENN STATE has done with Tyler Kasak. Penn State has every wrestler in the lineup in the top 10, and 5 wrestlers ranked number one after tonight. The Iowa style of wrestling might have worked in the eighties, but not today. In tonight’s dual, Iowa didn’t have a takedown in the first 5 matches. 🤦‍♂️

As a Penn State fan it’s good to have Tom brands is in Iowa because as long as he’s there, the wrestlers will never reach their full potential.

And it’s shocking to me “as rabid as there fan base is” that there hasn’t been a PUBLIC outcry for his job. Let me ask you something….are wrestling fans to assume that by the rankings, and/or where each team finishes at the end of the year, it’s a good comparison as to the level of recruits each team has gotten? Where do you think Iowa will be ranked nationally, after the loss to Michigan?

I think Iowa will still be ranked 2 after the loss. Of course the more top recruits you get, the better your outcome is at the end of the season but not all programs can get their wrestlers to produce results that Penn state has.

Nobody runs wrestlers into the ground like the Brands. It’s only February, but the Iowa wrestlers are like they are already doing their March choke.

I’m a Hawks fan. I am a Tom and Terry Brands fan. Why didn’t Tom do or have to do a post match press conference after the Michigan loss?? Why didn’t Tom do or have to do one of the Penn State loss last year?? I think that’s garbage. He should have to be there for the good and bad. The Media and the Big 10 need to call him out on that nonsense.

Ya I like the way Michigan wrestles like champs this was one of the best college wrestling matches I have ever seen this is the way it should be attacking Shane did not mess around and Gomez shows he can wrestle smart and the guy at 141 pulled the upset of the year now if he can do it at the big tens and ncaas

And I wrestled in college in the eighties and everybody moved on after college went to work as teachers or in factories or what ever I was about the only guy that practiced with the team at nmu that no longer had eligibility I just loved the sport

Hopefully Michigan will replace penn state as the hotbed of wrestling and they have world class wrestlers hanging around that’s what made Iowa so great in the eighties they had world class guys hanging out and that makes such a difference wrestling a world champ in practice or former ncaa champ

I am a nobody from nowhere but I loved wrestling it’s the only sport where you don’t have to be born a certain way and can become great but I still think these old school,moves will work under arm spins the three quarters the head in the arm pit cradles bar arms short sit outs to the Peterson roll hardly and body even does a switch anymore and what about arm drags to a low single they are great you miss you are still not in trouble I can’t understand why these coaches don’t do these moves

In regard to Bartlett, I think he underestimates his skill set….I think he thinks he can always improve off the other guys shot. Calling STALLS would end all of this. Angel calling double stalls last week on Levi’s match, set the tone.
