Fake Love is part of the Bangtan Universe which is a fictional storyline that runs through albums, webtoons, notes and a bunch of other stuff. It’s part of the Love Youself trilogy and is about accepting yourself.

The BTS guide by Taylor Mari is the current standard. There are a lot of others but right now, hers is the most comprehenive (even though it's from 2022).

On surface level, you can see this song as a toxic romantic relationship. But on a deeper level it’s fake love towards yourself. In one of their docu-series, they mentioned that they were going through a hard time. Feeling burnt out, etc. but they didn’t want Army to worry about them so they would pretend everything was ok and went on stage and didn’t show their struggles. And during that time they were getting more and more popular and fans were falling for BTS. But if they’re not showing their real struggling selves, then is the fan’s love for them even real? Or is it fake love? 🤯 Gurl….if u think this is the only BTS song that’s gonna get you choked up….youre in for a journey. I too am not a crier…but I would cry for animal videos. However, when I became Army in Oct 2022, the flood gates were opened. Songs that I’ve already heard a million times would one day just hit me for no reason. It’s their lyrics and the emotions and passion they put into their craft. It radiates off the screen and speakers…you’ll understand what I mean later on in your BTS journey

bts is known to have some of the hardest choreography out of most kpop groups they do show a lot of emotion in the choreography as a lot of their songs are meaningful to their story as well as to the storyline they have created with their music videos and you are 100% a baby army we claim youuuu 💜💜

Someone smarter than me can explain more in depth but the visuals in this video really tie into the fictional story that BTS created (in MVs, a webtoon series, other media that I can’t remember). So J-Hope in the room with the carnival equipment and laying on the snickers is part of his character from the storyline, along with Jimin in the flooded room, Suga’s room with fire, Jin in the beginning with the flower in the case that he tries to shelter when the windows blow in. It’s all very detailed and cinematic, and it’s not NECESSARY for you to know the background to enjoy it, obviously, I just wanted to give some very bare explanations to the main ones! 💜

You are definitely welcome in ARMY! 💜This song and a lot of their earlier stuff had a lot of deeper undertone meanings that are very emotional and touch on some very sensitive subjects. These songs spoke a lot about the way they're looked at and judged by who they are and where they came from. They even touch on subjects such as anxiety, depression, and the hardships they have faced over the years. They struggled so much to get where they are. If you check out some videos about them you'll see that they were looked down a lot because they belonged to a barely known company and they struggled even financially in the start of their careers. There is so much to learn about them but I feel like when people take the time to do some more research on them it makes their journey so much more impressive. Not many groups faced even half of what they did to get where they are. And not only that but the success they have gained from such humble beginnings...it's truly beautiful.

It is part of the BU story where J Hope's "mother" left him at a amusement park, giving him a candy bar and telling him to close his eyes. When he opened them, she had abandoned him. Fake Love is a song from the Love Yourself (LY) trilogy of albums. The first is LY: Her which describes a new and amazing relationship. LY:Tear describes the tearing apart of a relationship, and LY: Answer is the Epiphany that you need to love yourself before you can truly love another. The storytelling throughout the albums is incredible. It is not easy to select songs as they are all amazing and as you discover more of their personalities as well they are just so adorable. They cover multiple genres so you can find something for everyone and depending on your mood you love different songs. I love Zero O'Clock Tiny Tan version for comfort, ON: Kinetic Manifesto for dance, Baesae for fun, Not Today to rev me up in the morning, The Truth Untold ballad, House of Cards for jazzy vibe, Louder Than Bombs for driving alone in the dark. So many, B Sides are even better than singles and live they are outstanding.

bts also does have a sad story that turned into a amazing story in the end but it took them so long to get to where they are today they all joined bighit (which is now considered hybe) which at the time was going bankrupt when all the members were chosen they lived in a very tiny dorm because they were apart of what many other idols would say was “the poor company” but because of bts growing so much and changing the whole kpop scene and making kpop basically what it is today and making it as popular as it is today they were the reason that the company they are apart of was saved in the end

Hi, I would recommend two guides for you to watch if you want. The first is "A Long and Helpful Guide to BTS" by purple snow. It's the most recently made guide I've seen (2 months ago) and explains things the most in depth (BT21, certain songs' messages, their artistic growth, common Korean terms), though it is a major time investment (2+ hours). The second is one that is mentioned quite frequently "A Guide to BTS Members: The Bangtan 7" by Taylor Mari. This one is shorter (47 mins) but was made 2 years ago and a lot has happened since then (I'm sure ARMY will catch you up, it's just easier to see in a guide). I would still recommend it because Taylor is better about not speaking for the guys and sticks more to the point. Either one is a good starting point in understanding them, whether you film it or not. Glad you want to get to know them.

Haha, the 'Fake Love' MV is linked to the Bangtan Universe - a fictional storyline that has been going on since 2015. It's very complicated to follow but there are summary videos to understand the story, thanks to fellow ARMYs 💜 'Fake Love' can apply to any toxic relationship - not only romantic ones. BTS' "love songs" often have a different meaning behind the generic one. That way, even casual listeners can enjoy the song but ARMYs and lyric-focused people can have a blast. For example, the song 'Outro: Tear' seems to be a love song about a breakup at first glance. This isn't completely false since it's a song that the Rap Line wrote in 2018 when they seriously considered disbandment because of the increased pressure and hatred of becoming global artists. So it's about Bangtan's breakup. There's a crazy good live performance to it (at Wembley, I think?) if you want to check it out. It's a really emotional song for the members and ARMY though, haha You can be considered a baby ARMY as long as you love their music and support them. ARMY thrives to follow in BTS' footsteps and only spread positivity and acceptance. There are always bad apples unfortunately but we ignore them and try to help the people who are victims of their hate to try and compensate. And, of course, try to be as good as possible on our own! Also, I'd love to see you react to guides about them. I know people already recommended Taylor Mari's guide. But I really want to recommend XCeleste's videos - especially 'This is BTS' and 'BTS Hardships (2013-2021)'. Boracity Magazine's video essays - all are good but 'Why the Industry is terrified of BTS' is a good one to start this to have a global (but thorough) idea. And - my favorite - 'The Rise of Bangtan' docu-series that I already mentioned on your last video. The toys/carnival stuff is part of the Bangtan Universe and represents trauma: just like the Snickers, the fire, water and the smartphones etc. This is not just for the aesthetics - which is also true for the choreo. J-Hope/Hoseok/Hobi had a pretty good childhood from my understanding. He made a song for his mother: "MAMA" - which is pretty beautiful. There should be a BTS episode from the filming of this MV. There is also the "LOVE YOUSELF Highlight Reel". That was JK meeting himself in a mask: a hint where their storyline was going at that time: the persona aspect of Jung's theory of self (psychology). The persona is how we project ourself to others and are seen. At worst it can become a mask. Think how your reacton and behaviour is different to a family member than to a stranger, an adult or a child, a wanted romantic partner (which has the potential to become "Fake Love") or someone we can't stand.
