Thinking about the Anish Kapoor’s Svayambh thing really hurt. As they get closer to the light, their shadow gets bigger and they lose apart of themselves. If they don’t accept it, then they will continue to lose their true identity and they’ll be overtaken by their shadow. Accepting something that consumes your life isn’t easy. Props to the boys for taking a serious topic that really affects them and many other people and bringing it into the light, so others can understand the true nature of what it takes to be an idol, an artist, and a influencer.

I feel like this album is really gonna be about them. In Decalcomania Jungkook talks about him and now in this one Yoongi talks about himself

It must be intimidating to open up like this and I really admire them for doing so. If you think about it ... Joon said persona was dedicated to us. The tones of the songs were overally bright and the lyrics were often talking about their gratituide and eternal love for the fandom. Now Shadow does not deny that. It just shows that all the love they get comes with a price of loosing privacy and basically loosing a chance to live a normal life. You get up there, but it's lonely up there. And the love they get feels warm but when you think about it it's not that complex. Fans are usually introduced to their persona without any deeper understanding of their dark side ( maybe that's where the fake love connection comes from, if there is any). And that must lead to all of those doubts whether all of it is actually worth it. In BWL the lyrics goes : "you gave me wings to fly" and here it is "I want it all mine" without actually acknowledging the importance of the fans, which we know they care about very much. That can be interpreted as the voice of shadow, exposing the thoughts you're not only trying to hide from everyone else but especially from yourself. That's why I'm saying this must be intimidating to share. It's like they're saying : we're not only those perfect guys that write lyrics about how you should love yourself, we're also people who have lost so much are are questioning whether it was worth it. So is it heatbreaking ? Yes. But also it's normal, we all have this dark side within us as Yoongi says in the end. And there's no way we can ever escape it.

What I understood was that there is a Min Yoongi that is totally different from what we know as the famous Suga, that cute IDOL who always has a smile on her face, never admitting what is going on inside her. The moment the song gets tense, right in the end, with a pretty scary voice and a very "desperate" sound, as it were, it means that the "other body" (Suga) always dominates and collides with the real Min Yoongi we really don't know. In a perfect world, only light would exist, but this is not a perfect world so to balance it, a shadow must also exist. This does not mean they are not happy, but they are opening up to us so we understand how they feel. After all, they still are searching for their Map of the Soul.

Not only did this make more sense and made me realize, it also gave me even more theories and more questions. I feel like this album isn’t gonna be like MOTS: Persona, since that was was like.. more upbeat and looked on the bright side. I think MOTS:7 is gonna be more dark and look at reality and face the truths like you explained Suga saying in Shadow. This reminds me somehow of the Love Yourself: Tear and its music. Bighit is just a genius. Everything connects. All the details. I do not only mean BTS MV's, TXT's MV's as well. For example when TXT Run Away was released, in the end there is the doll that looks like a monster (or part of it), with two different sides of it. It is a direct link with the theory of persona, shadow etc. Even the lyrics "Running away". They keep showing a crown in Shadow as well, and we have been seeing that one in other MV's, TXT title track is called Crown as well. This keeps happening in both BTS's and TXT's MV's and it is just amazing how good work it is. This is just a few things just to show you an example. Bighit knows something that others do not. It is a whole universe. Note, they are telling different stories that are personal to them, but everyone can relate to what they feel, it is part of the us trying to understand ourselves, and it is something that we humans try to do here on earth.

From only listening to rap music never going outside of my box to Becoming a fan of BTS last year going back and watching them rise to fame.I can say they came a very long way. They helped me get through dark times with them always saying to love yourself. After watching the MV and not even being able to speak a different language as soon as he started talking about his goals to be king being rich and watching the visuals I new it was deep about how everything comes with a price. They work so hard and they are scared to slip up because all the eyes that are on them day to day. Not being able to just leave your house or your hotel room because the media always has something bad to say or spending time with the people they love. I hope they find there peace and know even if they feel alone there fans will support them. ♥️

Yeah! I completely agree. My theory is also the same. I wanna be a rap star. I wanna be the top. I wanna be rockstar. I want it all mine. I wanna be rich. I wanna be the king. I wanna go win. This is how the song Interlude: Shadow starts which is sung by Suga. The song innocently starts with Suga stating his dreams which he wants to accomplish. He ends up achieving his dreams and that's where the innocence of his ambition ends. He came to his senses realizing that it's not ambition but greed now. His shadow grows bigger chasing him as he tries to outrun it. 'Flying high is terrifying'. With great success comes great expectations. Suga sings about how with every success, he goes higher and higher reaching the top but finding himself alone there with higher expectations. He could keep staying at the top, but one day could also end up at the rock bottom. This overwhelming sense of emotion makes him realise that quitting is an option too, an option about which he is uncertain. 'People say that there is splendor in bright light, but my growing shadow becomes bigger and swallows me, becoming a monster. Higher and higher, vertigo overtakes me. I rise, I rise, I hate it.' Fame and spotlight have their own ups and downs. Suga particularly points out about how being in the spotlight all the time can have a negative effect on one's mind. It affects one psyche as something is always expected out of them. Keeping up with the fame as he goes higher and higher makes him dizzy with expectations, ambition, frustration, insecurities, greed, disappointments, failure and depression. 'I pray hoping to be okay, the moment I'm flying high as I wished, my shadow grows in this bright light. Don't let me shine, don't let me down. Don't let me fly, I'm afraid. In the end as Suga and his Shadow are shown facing each other with one at the top and the other one at the bottom, it symbolizes that even on top he wants to stay grounded.
