In kpop, idol groups have positions and one of them is center, exactly as the word connotes. Jungkook is the owner of that position in BTS. He is in the center of dance formations, pictorials, blocking/choreography and others. His official positions in BTS include main vocal, lead dancer, sub rapper, & center. A center is meant to draw people in be it for visuals, vocals or choreography. Jungkook has the looks, is a powerful dancer & also the main vocalist so he fits that position to a T. Every member of any kpop group have their own position/role. Role/s are assigned to each member based on their talent and strength right at the very beginning when they debut. Each position holds their own relevance to the group and there's no comparison as every member brings a unique and artistic perspective to their music & choreography. The combination of these positions is undeniably the key to every group's success. For choreography you will notice the 3Js, Jhope, Jimin & Jungkook always at the forefront as they are the best dancers in the group. For vocals, its the 4 members with JK doing the majority of adlibs & BG vocals as he is the main vocal of the group. BTS have shared that when they create songs or do choreo, they all try it out and select which member suits the respective parts the best & assign it accordingly like that. As for RM, he is a phenomenal leader and what you said is true, he never hogs the limelight. They all actually don't do that. They are very respectful of each other and are quick to acknowledge who does it best. They always lift each other up, and support each other. That's why they're the best boyband in the world.

RM has always said that he may be the leader but his job is to push the other members higher and forward from behind. You can see compilations and pictures online that show the boys doing whatever, rough-housing, performing, giving speeches and you will ALWAYS see RM in the background smiling like a proud father lol

I've heard RM in an interview describe himself and Jin as the wingmen in their dance formations. They are also the tallest members so makes sense they are towards the back.

RM and Jin had the least experience at dancing and were placed at the wings of the formation when dancing. Plus they're the 2 tallest in the group (V I think is now the same height has Jin). Suga had B-Boy experience. RM and Jin can be very proud of themselves for how well they've improved and they can call themselves "dancers" now. They do the same complicated choreography like the rest of BTS. Everyone is now a professional. JK...well the golden maknae is good at everything.

Namjoon knows how to lead by giving the others the spotlight and supporting them. JK is mostly in the centre because he is the main singer and a lead dancer. He has taken on a lot from a young age and always taken the lead without getting big headed and the others don’t resent him but are grateful and supportive. He truly is the golden maknae.

Korean groups have positions and center is one of them, which JK holds. Groups also have official standing positions for any activity, like posing at red carpets, etc. JK has the center there as well.

I dont remember if you know...but....for me its always so hard to watch but impressive at the same time how he suffered from the beginning from his pain....and finaly After so many years he did the surgery because it was to painful!!! He even did a live where he talked about wjy and everything. But this hard dance reminded me of this.

Your comment about Jungkook being in the center made me think about how Jungkook and Jin are oftentimes very prominent in the majority of the music videos. Part of that is because of their roles in the Bangtan Universe-Jin, Jungkook, and V all have some of the longest and most poignant scenes dedicated to them in the BU. Think of Fake Love-that MV starts off with Jin and Jungkook, and then Jungkook has a solo scene during the break. In I Need U, Jin is clearly separate visually from the boys, alone in a room holding flowers while they go through pain and tragedy, and then the break focuses on V. The music video for Run has V drowning underwater while Jin gives the camera a thousand-yard stare, and the video ends with Jungkook turning around to look directly into the camera. Each of those 3 looked directly and deeply into the camera in that video. Even in this MV-Jin, Jungkook, and V are the members that take /action/ in some way. Jin revives (?) the bird. Jungkook escapes and blows the conch. V takes the blindfold off the girl and takes her hand. I think the reason for this is that those 3 members are considered the Visual Line (the most handsome by Kpop beauty standards, who are usually placed in the center)-and they’re also phenomenal actors. All of the members are great actors, truthfully. That’s why it’s impossible to pick out any one member as being “better” than the others, like people would do with Western groups like *NSYNC. Edit: to those wondering, I called JK, V & Jin the visual line bc that’s who are listed as being in the visual line on the BTS wiki, not bc of personal bias or opinion

It amazes me how teamwork works in kpop. The leader doesnt always mean more parts or center. But in some countries, example the pussycat dolls or nsync or destinys child, only 1 person sings most part and is ALWAYS in the middle. Groups like that are bound to have jealousy within members and eventually one member will be seen pursuing a solo career. Because ONE ALWAYS STANDS OUT. While with BTS, everyone stands out. Maybe in 1 song, one will stand out, but in another song, another one will. Seriously i havent seen REAL teamwork until bts.

the part where you have to wait for Suga's part in DOPE is so relatable, for me i have to wait for RM's first line 🤣 JK is always the center of their choreo because he's the main vocal, so when it comes to switch of positions when singing and dancing it's easier to put him always and somewhere near the middle .. 💜💜

Jungkook is the center of Bts, is one of his main positions. He is the main vocalist, sub rapper and he is the lead dancer. Jhope and Jimin are main dancers but their styles are totally differents, that's why JK have the killing parts of the songs. When you watch their special coreography distribution for live shows , it' s always Jk and Jimin ( like in Blackswan) or JK and JHope ( dionysius)

Loving your observation there - RM indeed is a superior leader. He keeps everything smooth and running, stepping in and guiding when needed, but he will never impose " importance of that position" on the others. Thats what a true team leader should do - push others forth and facilitate for their growth and development rather than keeping them on leash. I noticed that too many time over and over. Suga is a pretty great dancer but he doesn´t see it as his calling so he hardly ever speaks about it or showcasing it like others do but when you watch their dancing practices up close you notice he has an insane control of his body and can be scarily precise. Nobody does shoulder rolls like Suga Min :-) Jungkook has been their main vocalist, "front and center", lead dancer and sub-rapper since they started so yeah, you logically see him more often in center of their acts than the others. It just comes with his job description. Always in the spot light, with 0 slacking and no luxury for occasional slip ups, or other mistakes to happen. Talk about responsibility and stress levels on his shoulders from day 1 of their career.

Anthony, JK is usually in the middle because he is the main vocalist. You will notice that whoever is performing, vocal or rapper, will take the middle position. They may not be doing as much dancing or movement giving them a couple seconds to rest.

In your reaction to the manifesto film, you said that it was a movie, which made me laugh. THIS is a movie, for sure. Let's see, doves mean peace, not freedom, so the death of the dove at the beginning was very symbolic and so was the dove's resurrection and the 7 doves at the end. Did you notice JK's body during J-Hope's part? And the thorns around his wrists? Tae laid out like Jesus on the cross. Yes, RM's scene is a reference to Noah's Ark. That was a real giraffe, too. The walled city that JK is running from, the drums, and the horn are all possible references to the city of Jericho in the Bible. JK also died and was resurrected. The people that follow the members to join Tae and the girl in front of the wall are the people who were killed in the battle at the beginning. They were also resurrected, although there is a theory that were not actually resurrected by time was reversed. Most of this is references to theories, not confirmed meanings. There is a hell of a lot of symbolism in this MV and a number of Biblical references, too. Oh, and that rock that they're climbing at the end looks like Pride Rock, from the Lion King.

I love the fact at the end of the video RM steps forward and raises his arm then leads them up the mountain, when 7 white doves fly over them, I've watched alot of the table talks BTS have where it's just the 7 members talking and everytime they always say is the best leader, that they don't think they would actually be where they are if it wasn't for his encouragement and him being able to speak english, THEY ARE A FORCE TO BE REKOND WITH, WHEN THEY ARE TOGETHER 💜🔥💙

Kpop groups usually have specific roles for the members and one of them is the "centre" or the face of the group, in this case, it is jungkook. So most choreographies will have him in the middle. The centre usually brings together the group's message and vibe and in kpop you can tell what concept the group is going for if you look at their centres.

no, it's not that rm "let the other members shine". actually, if you will listen to all their songs, rm has the most amount of lines (among the rl) bc he's the main rapper while sope are lead rappers. their line distribution is decided among themselves. they said in an interview that they will let all the members sing the whole song then pick which part is suitable to that member the most depending on their voice/personality/etc.

I think what's beautiful about their relationship is that nobody tries to push others back for their own good or for them to shine they all want the best as a group. They are all willing to step back if they know other members are better suited for the role. Jung kook is always in the middle and has many parts bc he is the main vocal and has the most stable voice while dancing while rm, suga and Jin is at the back alot bc the other members are better at dancing. For every song they decide who has the best suited voice for the song and nobody is greedy for the spotlight. I think that is part of the reason why they are so successful as a group and the reason they are together till now.

For example, I'd heard "Cypher" mentioned in a few places, but I didn't know what it was referencing. Watching the four Cypher songs with you for the first time was incredible. I'm so glad I did, because you taught me about the purpose of those songs. With your videos I've been learning rap terms and the way good rap is built, and my appreciation for it has gone up exponentially. Your enthusiasm is honestly so infectious. Watching your videos is meaningful to me because I fell into BTS the exact opposite way you did, I started with the strong vocal songs first. I'm blown away by the talent and hard work that imbues eveything BTS does, and that most definitely includes their rap heavy songs. Everyone in BTS contributes equally whether it is on screen or off screen.....it doesn't matter and they also decided the line distribution among themselves like this line suits him he should sing it....it's not like I should get more lines or my part is not as big...such trivial things does not affect them. As for the interviews groups have a proper formation of how and where each member will stand and jungkook's position is in the centre

Rm only needs his presence to be great, and he loves the triumph of all. I think the reason for the group to be so successful is that everyone gives a space for another to shine as well.
