SUGA has been working as producer since pre-debut. He started selling beats while he was still undeground rapper and was recognized as producer in undeground hip hop scene. He joined BTS as producer, not as member at first. His dream was always to be a producer and songwriter. Right now he is well-known and respected producer and everyone is fighting to work with him. Fun (not so commonly known by fans) fact: RM once explained on a live (2018) that j-hope was the one who brought the word Ddaeng for making the song. Ddaeng is an onomatopoeia word rich with different meanings as seen in the lyrics.

As someone who doesn't speak korean, I find that the best way to enjoy their music is to just listen to the whole this once, vibe to it and then I go and read all the translations and references and everything. It's a lot more fun to me that way 😛

Your homeboy Yoongi has and always been a producer and a songwriter. His original plan was to write songs. He already wrote and produced for other artists too (I.e Wine by Suran - this song won in Melon Music Awards.) I believe if he's not as busy he would've written and produced more tracks for other artists. 💜

Ddaeng is one of the masterpieces of yoongi btw he's the main producer and composer of this song! he's producing a lot for bts, for his solo works, and other korean & western artists too. a musical genius indeed😌 and also yoongi is a very versatile rapper too, you can check his mixtapes and solo songs

10:36 The part where RM is stuttering while rapping - he's basically making fun of people who at first insulted them when they were small then suddenly when BTS became big, they want to apologize and be all nice to them. They're calling out all the fakes in the companies and entertainment industry. He's making fun of how they apologize, stuttering and shit. there's a "Ddaeng explained by a korean" if you want to look further at the meanings. forgot by who but if you search it'll pop up. edit: also the rap line have been major producers since the beginning of their career. even before they were BTS, esp. Suga and RM, they were underground rappers/producers.

7:07 RM also uses "Bae" in cypher pt4 I think is an abbreviation for the Korean word "sunbae" that is a word/title used to refer to people with more experience (something like "senior") In their culture things like seniority and age are important and have to be respected, juniors (Hoobaes) have to speak very politely while addressing elders or seniors (sunbaes) In their first year of career, the rap line were invited to a radio show and were mocked by seniors, older rappers about how BTS "betrayed Hip Hop" and how they were "acting like girls" bc they wear make up and that kind of stuff. That went on and had a huge impact on them, RM and Suga talked about their identity crisis (idol/rapper) in their mixtapes and Cyphers were created bc of these incidents

DDEANG is one off my fav song's by the rapline. There is also J-Hopes sample song 1 VERSE which uses The Game & Skrillex's song El Chap , released as a Unofficial song in 2015. also another unofficial song is Blue Side by J-Hope (The full version of the outro one).

the 'bae' that they're refering is 'sunbae' which mean senior in korean. They used this a lottt espesially in cypher (u kno some of their senior "idol" from big company talk shit abt them on they're early days of debut)

Absolutely agreed with how you said if you don't understand the meaning what the song is trying to spread, it loses it's essence. Also there are many Korean proverbs which do not get correctly translated often and it might mean something to us international fans but it has a different connotation in Korean. But Ddaeng is really amazing. It's one of the songs that made me interested in BTS. When I first listened to it, I kept on jamming to it repeatedly.

The rapline is amazing, I reccomend you react to the trivia series from the love yourself answer album, each song from series is one of the members of the rapline. All the songs tell a story that continues to the next song, the series is about a relationship. We have trivia just dance by jhope, whe see jhope giving us a different style of him but still the same Jhope, his story is about the beginning of the relationship and how fun it is. Then trivia love by RM, where we see RM using wordplay to its finest, both Korean and English, his story is about the love they share. And then trivia seesaw by Suga, where we see a more rnb type Suga, his story is about the end of the relationship. I hope you will give it a try because I feel sometimes these songs are underrated even though their so good. :)
