What really sucks is that the radio interview was meant to celebrate BTS’s first year and they got basically ambushed, and also some of those ahole rappers were sunbaes in the underground scene who Suga and RM had looked up to. The culture of respect to elders also meant that they couldn’t really respond vehemently to what was being said to/about them.

i love suga’s chill ass response to their stupid attempts at ridiculing them like him saying “idk why you keep calling it temptations” is so real bc why is that guy making it seem like they sold their souls when all they did is decide to play on ground level and have their music reach more people instead of staying underground and limiting themselves. the most hilarious part is those lewsers would jump at the opportunity to be in the same position but no one offered it to them and that’s why they’re bitter… they also don’t have what it takes to put in the hard work so all they can do is sit on their ass and project their insecurities onto others who are more successful than them it’s actually embarrassing. looking back at that whole thing doesn’t make me mad as it used to it’s just so laughable i’m so glad that rm and suga gave the most nonchalant response and let their music do the talking!

You should definitely check out compilations of BTS and BangPD sometime, their relationship is really sweet and I’m really glad BTS had someone like him, specially at the start of their careers.

Respect to sunbaes (seniors) is a big thing in Korean culture. Back in 2013, BTS were rookies who had barely debuted and Bfree was a senior in the industry. So BTS took the classy way instead of responding to Bfree with anger. That's not to say that it didn't affect BTS. It obviously did. You can clearly see that in their music and their interviews. It bothered them that they were considered too mainstream for hiphop and too "out there" for kpop. RM especially talks about this dilemma often - whether he is an artist or an idol. Even Suga has addressed it in his music. So it's safe to say that this type of criticism affected them. But they have never been the type to create a public ruckus over something like this. If they have something to say, they say it in their music. Even when they address this criticism in interviews, they never talk about the person who is criticizing them. They turn it inwards as introspection towards themselves. I love that about BTS. They are not afraid to be vulnerable. And they are not afraid to self-reflect and improve themselves. They are great role models for men.

10:50 I will never understand why they were being looked down on for wanting to make money, for not wanting to starve. I'm an artist and I NEVER agreed with the starving artist trope. If you can do your art, stay true to yourself, and make money at the same time, go for it. What's ridiculous is that the guys who were making fun of them belong or will belong to a label of some sort. They will be making money via their performances and cds and music and what not. If they believe that artists should no be making money for their art, why are they not doing everything for free? So silly.

From what I've seen, jst a regular person's perspective....there's nothing like Army and mainly also coz BTS has so much online content since pre-debut compressed in such a short span of years. To think OG Armys were bullied & made fun of so much for stanning rookie BTS then...yet they persisted! Peer pressure would have ended that but it didn't! I'm here for the BTS reactions, but I would also like to recommend Dreamcatcher (a girl group) if you haven't heard them before. They are a pop/Rock fusion style. They also have quite an anime sound to some of their older songs too. They are in my opinion the best girl group out there, with their darker style and feel to their music. In my dreams I'd wish so hard for a BTS/Dreamcatcher collab!
