Excellent video. Saw my first 110 in 1974 and wanted one from that moment. Took me a few years to get one, my first being a 1978 vintage. Back then they were blocky and the edges were pretty squared. Found a "Buck Knife" (we called every folding knife that rode around in a belt sheath a Buck Knife back then) that felt a little better in hand - a 1981 vintage Western 541 - and it was my main user for more than a decade. It wasn't until the 2000s that I discovered Buck had updated the 110 and thinned and rounded the corners... I've purchased MANY more since then. GREAT knife. My favorite for 50 years.

Thanks for commenting 👍 definitely my favorite knives. I have all kinds of other knives but there is just something different about these Bucks… they look cool, they do the job and you just want to use them all the time… definitely an American classic

I got my first Buck 110 in 1969 and now have a small collection of them. The hollow ground blade is fantastic.

My Buck 110 will be with me for life. The original tactical folding knife.

The Navy sailors part was correct but it happened on the ship which was named the RANGER. The CO of the ship is the one who made the blade length determination, hence, Buck made the shorter bladed knife known as the Ranger (112).

Thanks for sharing. That's a nice overview and great background on Buck knives. I've got a few and have given them as gifts too. I recently got a custom 110 with walnut handles and nickel silver bolsters and an S30V blade, also with the soft leather brown sheath. It's a real beauty and too pretty to use, so will become a family heirloom!

Great video. When I was a kid I was gifted a buck knife for Christmas. I cut my hand the first time I opened it up. Haven’t had another buck knife since, but thanks to you I just rediscovered them.

Great video I started off with one that was my grandfathers and now I have 10 all with different handles , I agree with you I rotate my bucks for church or special occasions and everyday carry ,every man should carry a knife

Cool to see your collection, I have 5 buck knives! My great grandafthers original boxy 110, a rosewood handle magnacut 110 for bucks 60th anniversary, slim pro 112 may 4th version with the clip and thumb stud and the black milled aluminum handle and red cerakoted blade, blade hq 110 with s45vn steel green micarta and brushed brash. And then finally I have a standard modern pattern ebony and brass 440c buck 110 as well.

I’ve got my dad old Schrade LB5 late 80’s possibly. Going to get 110 modern version as edc? Don’t want to lose my dads…. Used to wack mussel and cockles off rocks with it too!!! Still looks decent 💪🏼

The 86 has a 425cm blade steel as they used 425cm in 110/112 from 1981 to 1993

No buddy i haven’t seen any of those but would sure like too… I have seen a guy in Alaska that customizes 110s and 112s and he does awesome work. I can’t remember his channel name but it’s really cool what he does with them. Thanks for watching bud, hope all is well👍

buck had most of there blades outsourced usually by Camillus i wonder since they went belly up who is making them for buck now.

Tho I do have both in standard 420 steel and switch them out for work every 3 months. They both do not disappoint. I landscape, hunt , and fish .

If it’s going to be a hunting knife, I’d go with the 110 hands down but if you’re going to use it as an everyday carry maybe the 112 just because it’s smaller and easier to carry but really I don’t think you could go wrong either way… just whatever you prefer
