They seem like pretty bad parents. Sure, losing a child is hard. We've lost several in my extended family, both as children (various cousins) and adults (my own sister). Parents aren't the only ones who suffer from the loss. But these two losers seem to be so wrapped up in themselves and their own feelings that they lost sight of the fact that they still had two kids who needed their parents and didn't have them because their parents were busy caring for their own needs.

THIS SCENE! I have so many feelings about this. It makes so many good points about parent-child relationships. It is NOT a kid's job to make life easy for their parents! And for parents to blame the child for being too difficult to be loved or cared about is such a shitty thing to do. "Love me anyway." Yes!!! This is so important!!!

@@gemdre - Indeed, that was the litany of Boomer parents that many of us had to endure. They resented the fact that we weren't born miniature adults and that we were instead children who required parenting. They made it very clear to us that we were an intrusion on their lives and thus we should be grateful and stay out of their way so that they could live their own lives. This has since spread to subsequent generations because way too many kids grew up never knowing any other way.

This made me resent maddie a little bit because Buck was always there for her and she wasn't always there for him and this scene proves it when she is trying to tell him to stop. He was in so much pain and you could see it in his eyes but she didn't want to relive her pain, at the expense of her brothers, even though Buck would do so in a heart beat
@cryssyfox3532 Жыл бұрын
To be fair, it's a very complex dynamic here. Buck's pain is primarily with his parents but in order to address it all, Maddie has to relive a very abusive relationship while she's pregnant, and unknowingly has to be thinking about the brother she lost that Buck didn't even know about at that point. I don't blame Buck for going in but I don't blame Maddie for not wanting to.
@mr.crossover66336 ай бұрын
Remember when he was crushed by fire truck? Maddie was not even at dispatch centre, she just stayed at home watching injured Buck from TV, anxiously waiting him to be rescued instead of rushing to the scene, if the roles were reserved, Buck would definitely rush to the scene in desperate (when Maddie was kidnapped by Doug and when Maddie as well as other dispatchers were held hostage)
@urgurlkayla31145 ай бұрын
@@mr.crossover6633I think you are thinking of Ally/Allie. Bucks girlfriend at the time. She was the one sitting at home watching (at his apartment). Maddie was at the dispatch center watching what happened with Josh. It’s not like she could go at that point in time. There was a bomber still at large. But as soon as Josh said she should/could go she left. Well that is if I’m not getting my scenes mixed up that is 😂.

This scene honestly just gives more proof that maddie was buck’s real parent and when she left him for dug it must have like he was being abandoned all over again and left with people who probably didn’t even know he was even there, that’s why when he found out about his past and maddie decided to hide it from him, siding with his “parents” he reacted like that, there is so much I wanna talk about when it comes to buck and his family and his mental but there’s not enough room for everything
@xyPERSON10 ай бұрын
The worst thing any parents can do in life is fail their children and even though this is a television show these two are prime examples. Kudos to Buck for ripping them a new one despite Maddie not wanting him to so she would not have to relive the pain and trauma. Sometimes you just have to let it out.

Go Buck!!! This is seriously one of the best scenes in the entire show! Those two parents seriously can be the worst! They literally treat Buck like he is a spare, just a body for parts, nothing more. And to make it even worse, they try to play victim, innocent in their wrongs, and blaming their children for their reactions when they need to take a long, hard look in the mirror. I wanted to slap them so hard knowing that they don’t even have a baby box for Buck, not a single thing. I understand that they will forever mourn their son, Daniel but their love for Maddie and Buck should have come above all else. Instead their grief took over and expected their children to remain in line like a sort of pet, making it easy like they said. If I was Buck, I would have forgiven them however never forget either. I would have cut them off from my life just like they did with Maddie. Thanks for uploading the entire scene. 🙂🧡🧡

@0fbaimegАй бұрын
This whole scene (and episode really) destroyed me, for many different reasons. The first is the backhanded compliments from the parents to Maddie, about how she "finally came to her senses" and "picked a good one this time", as if completely forgetting that whilst they might have been right in their dislike of Doug, Maddie went through absolute hell because of him, and she shouldn't have to be reminded of it, or made to feel as if it was her fault in the first place. The second is their reluctance/refusal to visit their children in the hospital. I know that they lost a kid after spending 3 years in the hospital, and I won't even pretend to understand that pain, but I'm also a grown woman, and when I'm sick/injured/in hospital, the only person I want is my mom, and I'd be absolutely crushed if she chose not to be there for me. The next is them presenting Maddie with her baby box in front of Buck, knowing damn well they never made one for him. It's like if your friends all talked about the party they are going to in front of you, getting you excited for it, and then telling you you aren't invited, except worse, because it will just confirm to Buck that they never cared about him as much as they did for Maddie. The fourth is the parents saying that the kids "never made it easy for them", because that is not a child's job. As people, none of us asked to be brought into this world, we had no choice. Our parents had us, and it is their job to love us, take care of us, and raise us to be who we want to be. It is not our responsibility to make our parents' lives easier whilst we are children, because we don't even know anything about the world yet. And the last thing is not this scene, but this episode, and that is the parents and Maddie keeping Daniel and the truth about Buck's birth/life a secret from him for 29 years, with no intentions of ever telling him. If my entire family kept the fact that I was only born for the sole purpose of being my sibling's bone marrow donor, that I was never wanted for any other reason other than that, for almost 3 decades, and then I find out they never intended to tell me in the first place, I can confidently say that some people would be getting some decent back hands. I don't care what their reasons were, after 29 years they become null and void, after that it's your own selfishness that is preventing you from being honest.
