I have only been camping/ bushcrafting for the last five years. Im in England where its not a big thing, never had a dad into it. Am really enjoying this as a hobby and a new education in my 40's. I picked up this knife as it was the best available in the shop to buy cash ( dont like buying anything on line, i support family businesses wherever possible ). I am extremely happy with this knife, it does everything i am currently capable of doing and it sharpens easily. That is a big plus for a newbie at sharpening like me.

This is an awesome comment. Thank you for that. I think you hit the nail on the head for who/what this knife is for! Thanks again and glad you enjoy it!

Higher end??? Come on… 420A is far from high end steel.

420 steel is a low-end grad! The lanyard on the ferro rod should go over the bottom of the rod to keep it from being pulled out by brush....
@Backyardsurvival-5

While it’s not a high end it is adequate for most tasks needed. The lanyard tip is great, I actually removed the ferro rod and holder completely to prevent losing it. But I may replace it using your tip. Thanks

This is a great knife! Just a lil expensive compared to other Chinese made knives. I have the smaller one. It’s great!

I agree. The only real downside is that it’s made in China. I was actually gifted this knife, otherwise cost wise I would’ve bought the smaller one too. In fact, I did a-little early Christmas shopping and bought my 3 sons the smaller version already (don’t tell them). Thanks for watching!

Tried adjusting the sheath yet... try doing it overhand back sniper position... then do a review.

After the video I did adjust it. I might just do a video on that in the near future was a little cumbersome with the amount of screws to deal with, but it worked.

@@tororb9142 nice! So with that it hold snug? I have an issue with the spacer being in the way and not fitting on my belt. It was much more annoying that I expected trying to get that thing out, and the whole changing of the position was oddly cumbersome.

@@Backyardsurvival-5 I also cut, with a dremel, new spacer holes at the other end so the curved end sits on top. Tricky work, but the plastic burns away nicely if you take your time. With a new spacer hole at the 'bottom' it holds securely.

420 is not a high carbon steel. Its a mid grade steel at best.
@BenHarding-xx8tg
@BenHarding-xx8tg 4 ай бұрын
While that isn’t wrong, there are differing grades of 420 Steel. Buck uses the 420 High carbon (420HC) which is higher carbon than other versions of 420. So in relative terms yes you are correct it is mid grade (about 45%) but higher than other 420’s (ranging 35% and under carbon content)

I wouldn’t have considered it initially, but it was a birthday gift. And I actually do like it. Time will tell if it’s worth it or not. But I don’t blame you for not buying a Chinese blade. And still don’t understand why they would go to China for it.

I honestly wish I understood why they went to China for it, doesn’t really make a whole lot of sense, as they are such an American staple, but even so, this knife is really good, surprisingly.

Depends where the steel is sourced from. If its European steel it tends to be the best in the world. I doubt they will let just any steel be used
