Buck Stockman 371: Full Review!!
Here I show the Buck stockman 371 in all of its beauty. Although a "budget" knife, it is well worth the money in my opinion.

This video is now probably a month or two old and so far it has held an edge pretty well, this knife is a STEAL for $20!

Personally this is one of my favorite models of Buck. It is the classic pocket knife. In fact, I frequently give them out as a small gift to friends. What guy doesn't like getting a classic Buck?

I bought this knife from Wallyworld a few weeks ago. I knew I was getting their China made model, but I was just looking for something that I could carry in my pocket each day for light duty tasks that might come up. The fit and finish on mine was good...not poor nor very good, but good. Only thing I did not like was the center pin was proud (a little too high) on each side. My Dremel and a few minutes took care of that. I also touched, with the the Dremel, the outside corners on the bolsters to give it that old, worn feeling. For $20, I'm satisfied.

For the warranty and the cost, I love the 371 as a secondary to my Inkosi. This is a really nice knife and you can get them For less than $20! The 3 back springs are also a plus for me!

the american version is 420 and the china version is 440c, 420 is a good knife or cutlery steel but 440c is a better steel since its tool steel. 420 has .15% carbon the 440c has from .6 to .75% carbon. i only know this because i was given one of these today and wanted to know what it was made of so i went to buck knives.com and found it as imported 440c stainless so i went and looked at steel grades and i'm sorry but the china is the better stronger better lasting knifea little research will do wonders

. look i don't mean to sound like a dick but i have knives that are 150 years old and every single one of them from 150 years old to 3 years old that folds has sharp corners so the thing should look like its supposed to be one piece of steel when open, a kitchen steel is made for one purpose, to straighten the edge after use or if left before use, also buck knives does sub contract a lot of their smaller knives to different places but are held to the same standards as their american counterparts

I've been carrying mine daily for about two and a half years now. After the first month or two the grip panel with the logo just fell off. I love Buck and that just about broke my heart. I never had ANYthing like that happen before. I used some Gorilla glue and clamped it overnight and it has been good to go for over two years so far. If it falls off again the knife will get shelved.

I like to use a basic sharpening steel…but that really only realigns and polishes the edge. There are a variety of guided sharpening tools out there that will give you a perfect edge. I like to use a diamond myself, but I have quite a bit of experience with sharpening things

Nice looking knife. Unfortunately, at this point in time, most goods are made in China or parts elsewhere. You can thank US trade practices from the nineties for that. I recently bought a set of Bowie style knives from Mossy Oak at Walmart and made in China. The quality actually appears to be good for a $20 price point. I have a review coming up.

Thanks brother, yes it’s hard to get around Chinese made these days...they have a U.S. made version called the 301 but it’s twice as expensive before tax and or shipping. This is a drag around the farm knife I don’t want to be afraid of using or losing, hence the cost. Thanks for watching, looking forward to your review!

Thanks! Yeah I’m still trying to figure exactly how slavery in China is my fault, it would seem that’s a government problem on their part? Anyway, there is a lot of anti-China type sentiment in the rural midwest so I’m used to it. I really do try to buy American, but it’s hard to avoid the ubiquitous Chinese products these days. Thanks for understanding! 👍🏻

@TheMagnumChannel

Again, that’s more of a standard of manufacturing. U.S. knives cost more to make but also cost more to buy...if there wasn’t a fairly healthy cost differential, they wouldn’t be making any money...

Every time you buy something made in China like that just remember you are one of many responsible for keeping the slave trades going in China also for many deaths in those factories caused by unsafe working conditions and long hours with little and sometimes no pay It should make you sick everyday you own that knife just knowing you are one of the people responsible for kids dying in a factory full of slave labor working 16 hours a day I do not buy Schrade, Buck or Case knives anymore unless they are ones made in the USA where workers are not slaves treated like animals such as they do in China People need to boycott all of those companies even sending them letters saying how they will not buy another thing from them until they quit using underage slave labor in China
@TheMagnumChannel
@TheMagnumChannel 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. I guess I would agree to a point. While the situation you described is certainly terrible, it’s not exactly my fault that the powers that govern China don’t see fit to provide safer working conditions for their public, so that’s on them, not me. That being said, I DO try to buy American whenever I can, but not everybody has 50+ bucks to drop on a made in the USA knife. Just my .02, thanks for watching.

Ray Blackburn: Kids dying in slave factories, that is mostly Indonesia. The birthrates in China are way too low to attribute to child slavery. Industrial regulations are not enforced very well in China, and not even Xi Jinping (who is the most powerful leader in China since Mao Zedong) has been able to remedy that. The workers subjects to these horrible conditions are by and large migrant workers from the poor and underdeveloped eastern and northern provinces of China. The migrant workers are growing more and more self aware, strikes and protests are on the rise, and the overall consensus among the general Chinese population is, that the migrant workers conditions must improve. The government is no longer able to put a lid on the unrest, and personally, I have some expectations that chances are coming. Modern day China is a baffling combination of Maoism (which is very different from the communism it derived from under the turmoils that lead to Mao Zedong's raise to power) and corporate capitalism (which is a downright perverted version of classic/old school capitalism). Any attempt to inspire or provoke the chinese decision makers is doomed to fail, as long as the current trade war between USA and China is going on. If you are skin broke (and everybody on minimum wages are), there are no real alternatives to just buy as cheap as possible. A good place to start, is to raise minimum wages just a little bit, so Average Joe can afford to actually make choise based on reason or common sense. If you think that I sound like a communist, you haven't understood a single word of what I just wrote. God bless you, God bless all the good people in this world, and God bless Our two nations, USA and Denmark.

Shooting with Uncle Dan: I don't have a smart phone. I have a windows XP computer stitched together from scraps and old parts. Mostly those bits and pieces are made in Taiwan. And yes: from a non-Scandinavian point of view, I could easily pass for being a communist, and there is no way *THAT* wouldn't be over the top or down the sewer line.
