Needle nose plyers to the tip and even it out as much as you can. Hit it on the wire brush on the grinding wheel and sharpen it up. Use ceramic or diamond for your fine grit and then strop it and it will be perfect again

Only one group with each choke and not being sure whether you pulled the flyers or the choke caused it - really tells us nothing. More than one group per choke would clear that up and massively improve the value of your data. " A sample size of one is no better than a sample size of none"

Is buffalo bore ammo worth the money they charge for 20 rounds. I mean 20 rounds of 357 ammo for almost 50 dollars is quite expensive when I can purchase 50 rounds of 357 ammo from federal for 35 dollars

It's hard to beat Hardcast, time, and tested! At what point did you edit the clip when you loaded the first round and placed it at the 12 o'clock postion!?😂 There's many variables that affect velocity! Number one is barrel cylinder gap!👍 Good video, love to see these at work!✌️

30 bucks for a lee loader…Don’t get me wrong I love them, but you also need about $200 worth the components before you even get started. lol. I have a bunch of the loaders they’re fun to screw around with but 99.9% of my stuff is done on the press so it’s precise. The loaders are good for a bug out kit or if you’re out in the middle of nowhere and need to make some shells you’re in.

Kudo for the testing, but I don't know that I see errant bullets as a call to say clearly better. The both broke bone, and passed into water. The issue with the 45 however is that we are responsible for every round down range. You8 guys have no idea where .45s ended up. But clearly they all can break big bone.

Watching this in 2024. I've carried a 22lr or 22mag NAA mini since 2008 as a backup or sometimes a 3rd. Last few years my 22mag Wasp has been the one. I put a larger grip off Ebay on it and it's still tiny. Wife recently expressed a desire for one...I'm thinking of a pug for her since it will also be a model I've not had. I'd love to have a sidewiinder model... they just seem as rare as common sense at the border right now. Enjoyed the review and you're a great shot with a mini for sure. 👍

So after my last comment about the Underwood .40 S&W 135 grain nosler that hits 610 foot pounds out of a 4” barrel, compared to this rounds 659 foot pounds, and 675 out of a 4.9” barrel, would you mind doing that in the bone test please? I could even send you like 3 or 4 rounds if you wanted.
@SuperD00D
@SuperD00D 5 ай бұрын
Underwood rates a lot of their semi auto ammo in like a 3.4” barrel buffalo bore probably rates their ammo in no less than a 6” lol. For example, Underwood has a 135 grain .40 S&W rated by them at 1,400 fps. You would think this .357 magnum is way more powerful, but it’s barely more powerful from a 4” barrel. The .40 gets 610 foot pounds out of a 4”, this .357 magnum got 659. The .40 manages a solid 675 foot pounds out of a 4.9” barrel. And it’s also in saami spec. I shoot it out of my Glock 23 all the time. If this did hit 1,400 fps out of a 6” barrel it would be 783 foot pounds. I would imagine the .40 would hit in the 700’s as well out of a 6” if a 4.9” hits 675. Good video and still powerful result.

The 1375fps rating is a 4-inch S&W Mountain Gun. The only GP100 velocity (6-inch) listed on their site is a 125gr (1707 fps). Would be nice to see a Buffalo Bore product side-by-side comparison between a S&W L-Frame and GP100 both with the same barrel length.
@drsmokeybones
@drsmokeybones 7 ай бұрын
The Ruger and the Smith & Wesson should give fairly similar velocity results. +/- 100 fps difference or less I'd bet.
@exothermal.sprocket
@exothermal.sprocket 7 ай бұрын
@@drsmokeybones Perhaps. Yet 100 fps is a pretty wide spread. Forcing cone gap, barrel bore diameter, chamber dimensions all vary between the brands (even within a brand), so it's hard to say. Colt Python (originals) all ran slower barrels than S&W and Ruger due to tapered barrel bores (0.001" to achieve accuracy), even to being slower in a 6-inch Python than a 4-inch S&W by published test data. No idea if their new generation are faster or not.
@drsmokeybones
@drsmokeybones 7 ай бұрын
@@exothermal.sprocket Yeah, hopefully a lot less than 100 fps I agree.

The Black Widow and Wasp are far better for EDC. Barrel length on the Pug is too short to achieve and decent penetration and no expansion is achieved. 2” barrels are minimum length for good penetration and expansion, esp in cold temps when assailants are wearing outer layer garments.
@TheMagnumChannel
@TheMagnumChannel 7 ай бұрын
We could split hairs on this but you are correct in that you won’t get expansion, probably from any 22lr small enough to carry unless you hit bone. That being said with a gun like this I personally would be going for the head and or neck, or hoping that the sound and or feel of being shot at would end an attack. Another inch of barrel isn’t going to make a lot of difference in the same caliber, just my two cents. Thanks for watching!
@golgotha1522
@golgotha1522 7 ай бұрын
The ballistics I mentioned are for .22WSM, not LR. Anything less than MAG cartridges in these revolvers are more or less useless other than maybe as a noise deterrent. That being said, YES an extra inch of barrel makes a significant difference in terminal ballistics running 22MAG. 36gr is also optimal to balance penetration and velocity. In addition to this there are .22WSM cartridges on the market that are designed for shorter barrels. Moreover you want a non-ported barrel to maximize energy. The key to using these pieces in a self defense situation is copious draw and fire drills. Under the stress of an attack you are only realistically going to get one round off to the A-Zone. Drawing, cocking, aiming and firing must be done in one smooth rapid movement. A successful shot is about the only thing that will permit the availability of follow-ons. If you carry one of these you must dry fire often and numerous times to perfect that initial shot under stress.

Hollow points won’t expand if it hits a solid hard object first. It has to hit softer flush like material before hitting a hard solid object to expand that’s how they work. To think otherwise is to have A unrealistic expectation

Train with the same body you will have when the heart rate goes from 70 to 200 under a second. Learn to get shots on target holding the gun with a death grip, focusing on the target (point shooting), jerking the trigger and slapping the finger against the trigger guard. Basically the opposite of bull's eye competition training.
