I have a pouch like that and I had to slice it down the middle like that too. The best advice for any company wanting to build a belt for fallers is give them the most versatility and adjustability as possible. Thanks for sharing buckin!! Love to you and the family❤️

I can't help but think Weaver is cringing a bit watching you cut that bugger, LOL. But you won't be cracking your funny bone on your wedges. Maybe we need to see the clog dance while wearing the belt?

Nice work buddy, worth every moment to make it right before putting it to work. I get into 8" wedges here but Im in the hardwood where I have to drive a short tree quite a ways. I often carry a couple but even then Id like the pouch square at the top rather than taper. Itll bell at the mouth with some use anyway

You mean to tell me all this time I have dealt with my pouch in the wrong place there was such an easy fix? Good job! Weaver! Please listen! You have the best system out there! And this will make it better! Pouch is too low in front and wedges do fall out time to time !

I love how if you look up this wedge pouch they changed it to what billy said

I'm glad weaver updated it and made it even better. A company that listens is worth doing business with

Guess the elastic band comes in handy when you carry only 2 or 3 wedges. That way they will stay in place, but when filling the pouch up with wedges the band simply gets in the way. Nice modification!
@hiltonlloyd66454 жыл бұрын
They should make felling hammer holders,here in New Zealand a lot of us fell with hammers and there is only one pouch we all use and it would be cool to see something else,and the quality of weavers products looks really good,

I wonder if they raised the leather height up as you said, they could also cut a patch of leather out on each side and sew in some heavy duty stretchy material in its place, maybe only just in the top third or half, so that when you fill it up its really holding some tension on those wedges and will really hold em in there. Since it wouldn't be a little fiddly bit of stretch material on the inside it should still be easy to pop your wedges back in without needing to look back there or use two hands or fiddle with it any. Might be a dodgy idea but thats what experimentation is all about. Who knows. That stretch material eventually wears out so they'd have to do it in a way that you could replace it yourself pretty easily with a speedy stitcher or something easy like that. Nice gear all the same.

Have to agree on the wedge holder loose the elastic band get it out of the way and extend it up higher and you could use the small wedge holder for those 8

🌲 the belt should go over the first loops of the large pouch so it won’t fold away for a sloppy pouch ! A lot of carpenters do the same with the tape measure holder ! Over not under 🙋🏼♂️ 🌼
@j.c.lawntreesnow62725 жыл бұрын
Buckin nice mod now for the big axe pouch see the shiney rivets on the rim of tbe pouch the two close to each end dill them out and put pop rivets there making the pouch smaller and it creates two smaller pockets for stuff like files and scrwrech .stay sharp

Maybe use the leather you cut off and a rivet gun to get the height of the pouch better again Buckin?
@johnvelas702 жыл бұрын
I use two 12" +one 8". the 8" is for fine steering control when felling a heavy leaner opposite the lean or into the wind. Also I put the 8"in the center fat side down.
@RDW3035 жыл бұрын
How about an elastic strap that goes from the leather belt loop, over the wedges and connects to the outside of the pouch.
@marcduclos97895 жыл бұрын
The oversize pouch in the back Huumm. I might slip a ax in it and then get a hole punch and slam threw it and then rivet it up and then you have a ax pouch with a side diddy pouch.
@richardmason92975 жыл бұрын
Hey billy could you use the leather u cut of to make a loop for the spanner, that you didn’t have a place for? And attached it on to the side pouches.
@stevenmurata43925 жыл бұрын
Good wedge fix. What about the axe pouch?
@FishFind30005 жыл бұрын
weaver could just have a small wedge pouch and large wedge pouch. what ever type you like to run you can pick the pouch you need. no need for one size fits all as it will stuck for all. jack of all trades master of none.
@thomasbrighton61595 жыл бұрын
Billy Rae aren’t you left handed? Is there room on the other side to put your wedges on the right side if you’re right handed? Also rivet that extra leather to make your file pouch. Cheers!,
@Chevron.Muskoka5 жыл бұрын
Yeah you can swap the wrench and file pouch for the wedge pouch

If you want cheap and durable finish to leather - look for pure lanolin. My neighbor used to be a butcher and leatherworker - from the field to your plate and on your feet he did it all lol - and swears by the stuff and got to say in the years since I've used that on everything from leather saddles to shoes to toolbelts belts chairs and whatnot - could not be happier Keeps the leather nice and flexible and weatherproof. Here at least since this is sheep country its pretty cheap too.

I know us SE coast folks use 5.5” and 8” wedges. Just don’t fall the large diameter trees like the West Coast. (Most of the time).

I have to disagree, big guy - I use 8 inch wedges regularly. I have a Stihl ms181, running a pico chain, and the lift I get from my 8" wedges is often plenty, especially when I'm falling with the lean. Plus, a lot of times, I'm falling small trees, so I rarely need anything bigger. In addition to which, my damn pouch won't hold bigger wedges, so there's that too... 😉
@mthompson2 жыл бұрын
We aren't all in the land of giants. If I used 12" wedges, I'd be banging them into each other or the holding wood before they even move the tree....I use 8" and 4" wedges mostly.
