The reason why they wear the Bearskin (The tall black fur hats) is like pointing a middle finger to the Frenchies. The bearskin is like a trophy from the Battle of Waterloo, where they defeated the French, and since the French Imperial Guards wore Bearskin, and they lost, the Brits then took it as a war trophy, and to this day, it’s still worn ceremonially by some regiments in the British Army, but it’s more famous with the Brigade of Foot Guards.
