As a child, who did you go to for protection: the parent who let you do anything and smiled while you did it, or the parent who yanked you back from the brink with a stern voice and scowl. When all is right with the world, we go to the smiling parent. When we are in danger, we need our wrathful parent. Palden Lhamo is that wrathful parent we need when we're in danger.

More about Palden Lhamo on Buddha Weekly - very extensive feature! here: buddhaweekly.com/get-away-lik...
In Tibetan Buddhism, Palden Lhamo is that ferocious mother protector. Also known as Shridevi, she is the enraged, dark emanation of Vajra Sarasvati - who is an emanation of Tara. She is like the no-nonsense, stern mother, who can pull you back from danger with awesome motherly strength.
Palden Lhamo is the unrestrainable, bulked-up mother who can lift a car off of a trapped child - the awesome power of a furious mother. You could think of Tara as the "nice mother" supportive and protective, with embracing arms, and Palden Lhamo as the same mother, but super wrathful, enraged, and awesome in Her power; nothing, absolutely nothing, can stand against Her. You can also think of Palden Lhamo as the fierce aspect of wisdom, as the wrathful emanation of Vajra Sarasvati.
According to Venerable Zasep Rinpoche:
" Palden Lhamo, meaning Glorious Goddess, is a fierce Dharma protector of Tibet. She has many names and takes many forms. Palden Lhamo is an emanation of Tara and Sarasvati. On an ultimate level, Palden Lhamo is a fully enlightened being. On a worldly level, in order to subdue and convert rough and difficult beings, she became a wrathful and fearsome goddess. She has different names and different emanations.
It may seem odd to consider both White Tara, and dark Palden Lhamo as Mothers - emanations of the same being. Yet, mothers can be ferocious when they need to be.
Rob Preece, in The Psychology of Buddhist Tantra, describes her ferocious mother aspect this way:
“She is a ferocious-looking crone, a wild and terrible demoness, riding a mule across an ocean of blood… Thus, as in all deities, a dual nature is evident; light and dark, upper world and underworld, peaceful and wrathful. The forces of the Shadow are not inherently demonic and terrible. Light and dark, good and evil, creation and destruction are relative dualities that have no ultimate true nature.”
Against who is her ferocious power directed? Not just against the dangers of our world, but against our own ignorance

I whole heartedly chant Palden Lhamo mantra and felt my body energize and my depression went away. I usually smoke, so after chanting I went out for my usual ciggarette break. As I was inhaling, it tasted so awful, I almost choke. I threw the ciggarrette way after only a few puff. Thank you Palden Lhamo to help me rid of my bad habits. She really is a wrathful mother that will reprimand her child if they do wrong!

I recite Palden Lhamo mantra because of Dharma protector and a loyal guidance of his Holiness the Dalai lama . This 14 th Dalai Lama was recognized through Palden Lhamo Tso which is considered one of the holiest lake in TIBET. If you wish to see something of your future , it will be seen in that holy lake but with some specific prayers .

Can lay people also practice her sadhana ?❤❤
@BuddhaWeekly
@BuddhaWeekly 6 ай бұрын
Lay people can practice (with empowerment), certainly, but the full Sadhana usually requires Empowerment (usually you first practice your main Yidam, then Palden Lhamo is visualized in front of you). Offering Pujas and Tea Offerings are beneficial and meritorious for anyone. Her tea offerings and praises are often public and can be made without empowerment as long as you visualize her in front of you. For her mantra, many teachers advise not to chant her mantra without the empowerment, but be guided by your own teachers. In the meanwhile, many students practice Black Tara (Palden Lhamo is an emanation of Tara) whose mantra does not require empowerment. Here is our chanting of this mantra (and linked is a documentary): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aMWmjaderqvchXk.html As always, be guided by your own lineage and teachers. In kindness, BW.

Do I need initiation for palden Lamont?
@BuddhaWeekly
@BuddhaWeekly 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching. You would need empowerment to practice the sadhana and mantra but not to make offerings or prayers. She is a wrathful form of Tara so normally it’s best to practice Tara first and ask teacher when karma allows. In kindness Lee

@@BuddhaWeekly So is it not okay to recite the mantra (Jo ramo jo ramo...) on a rosary? I've been kind of doing that for a couple of days along with Guru Rinpoche mantra. I dont know much about Buddhism, I just read somewhere that reciting her mantra can help you overcome your fears and protect from dangers.
@BuddhaWeekly
@BuddhaWeekly 6 ай бұрын
You should have initiation for the mantra. Even with Empowerment you do not self-generate, but instead you generate as your own Yidam with her in front of you. The tea offering ANYONE may offer, as you praising her, but you need initation for mantra, Mo, and activity practices due to the complexity of the practice (teaching is required). When you praise her or make tea offerings as we demonstrated here, you are asking for her blessings and creating the merit for future initiation.
