My Daddy told me before he passed..."I'll meet you there...at that river. I'll be waiting for you." He, my Mom and I were ALL baptized by the same preacher, in the same place, in a country lake, over a period of 25 years, as the same church family sang this song. When I hear it, I see that water...and I know Daddy's waiting just across on the other side. Lord, come quickly.

My 90 yr old mom with dementia has been singing this song for the past few months. Right now she is dying and I have this music on and she has a huge peaceful smile on her face. Thank you so much. This will be the song she will hum as she is reborn on the other side.

My best friend died a year and a half ago. He was only 45. We were die-hard Rams fans. He was a devout Christian and I'm a secular Jew. But I have always have loved this song and I sing it for Joe before I go to sleep once a week. Rams are back in Los Angeles, Joe. He passed on just 2 days before the official announcement by the NFL. But Joe is resting in peace and I remain good friends with his son, dad, and his sister. Yes, Joe, May the saints gather at the river.

My brother in JESUS OUR LORD AND KING, past away (went Home) we had no internet so I sang this to him as best I could He could not talk, He wrote on his board that he and I would meet at the river. 3 hrs later he passed. THANK GOD FOR ALL OF YOU THAT MADE THIS POSSABLE! GOD IS GOD IN HEAVEN! SEE YOU THERE. GOD'S WILL, WILL BE DONE! WE LIVE AND DIE AT HIS COMAND. Thank you!

With Christmas there was a huge fire in Ascencion Paraguay, meaning 'river streaming to the sea'. Now with Passover an earthquake on Ascencion Island. We will ascend soon and gather at the beautiful river that flows by the throne of God. Praise Jesus!

Many young Americans gave their life near the river Rhine in Arnhem, where the fighting was the heaviest, to set Holland free in WW2. We will never forget. Like Jesus gave His life to set us free. Thank God this world is temporary. Btw a musical pearl, this version.

I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (November 3, All Saints' Sunday), we sang this as the Hymn of the Day. Ditto for me as I played it at a local Lutheran Chuch that I filled in at as the Opening Hymn. It is #423 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship. And let us give thanks to the ones who have gone before us.

I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. This is to all denominations: If Revelation 22:1-7 is your Scripture of the Day, this is a good hymn to compliment it. BTW, I saw The Gaithers in March 2004 at the Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, SC.

I lost my dad May 1989. I was with him in the hospital day and night in the hospital where he gave his life to and died. At his death two angels came and took him away. My mum too, while passing away January 2011, in bed opened her eyes and said to our cousin,, "I have seen the Glory", waved at her and shot her eyes 'Shall we gather at the river???

I pray you come to believe sir. The Bible (written by man) inspired by God, is filled w/truth n wisdom mere men couldn't know. Things talked of in it have come to pass n still are till this day. It's inerrant, and ageless. God is love Himself, the love that while we all have a measure of love for people, doesn't compare to His for us. Often times many Christian's (including myself) have been poor witnesses for Him here on this old earth. God forgive us.
