It's great for travel as well. Just stow and go. Love this thing! For hunters, I've heard that they also make a little hood so that it focuses the heat a bit more if you have to sit further away. You didn’t fix the problem, but you gave me a clue, I had a yellow flame. Sometimes it would be blue sometimes yellow. I realize if I tilt a little bit to the right it will turn blue for a while. Turns out it was the tilt switch was stuck or unseated. I didn’t take it apart for tapping it a few times on the left side seem to settle it and since it’s been settled, it’s worked fine.

To PREVENT this from happening,You MUST use 1 of 3 methods to hook up to a 20lb tank (or larger)...1-use a filter on the hose 2- use a regulator at the tank 3-use a Mr Heater #273704 hose (specifically designed to NOT leach oils because of the high pressure from tank to heater regulator)... any one of these methods will prevent 99% of ignition problems...👍

Exactly what I needed. I could get the pilot but couldn’t get it to stay lit. I could see the flame wasn’t reaching the thermocouple so it was no mystery why it wouldn’t stay lit but how to make it reach was the conundrum. We are expecting a hard freeze for a week and this was to keep the plants alive in case of a power outage. Wish I’d seen this before I went scurrying off to buy one of the few generators left on the shelves. I didn’t have a Q-tip or alcohol so I shot contact cleaner down the orifice👍. As soon as I lit the pilot I knew it would work. Thanks

Worked for me , for a second time. Careful about the cotton swab. Make sure it is on tight. Mine came off two inches down. I took a paperclip, straightened it out and bent a very small section on the end to retrieve the cotton. Flame is now strong enough to once again touch the thermal coupler to allow the heater to work properly.

Works!!! Almost no visible difference from the flame before and the flame after. Did this with just the q-tip and no rubbing alcohol. Was trying to light it for 20 minutes. Shove the q-tip in it and now it fires up.

Can't believe this worked, but it did. I had some water drip on the pilot light, screwed up the heater and I didn't think an alcohol swab would fix it, but it did.

Watched another video and he just shut down the 20# tank. Then he hit the ignition a few times to make sure no more gas is coming through. Then he barely cracked the 20# open and started the heater. Then after a few minutes, opened the 20# fully. That fixed the problem . So if your solution doesn’t work, try this solution. I t worked great for mine:)

Do you recommend having a filter on the hose line? It has a regulator but it's a 10ft hose. Appreciate the input 😊

Always try the other SIDE of the heater. Should be obvious but if you don't have time to take it apart connect your tank to the opposite side it should work just fine especially if you are connecting this to a 20 pound tank. Then later clean out the other side. Blowing the pilot line is always good too. But even if you don't have the pilot working try the other side.
