A rerun or overhaul of a good motor that was done right the last time is very low risk as long as ya get the clearances and assembly correct. It will be good . Doin one my self that way right now.

I originally built this engine for a customer 15 years or so ago for a limited modified. He ran it for about a year and ended up washing it at the car wash , got water in the engine and hydro locked it and bent 2 rods.Sooo, I built him another one and he gave me this one back as a core. so to do this project dirt cheap, I used stuff I had laying around the shop. It has 2 rods and pistons out of 2 other blown up dirt track engines. I did re size them all, and I did grind another crankshaft for it. I put the plate back on it and honed about .001 to .0015 out of it to get them back round.. and yes the cylinders are a little outta spec but it'll be fine for my old farm truck lol I used "New Old Stock" Oldsmobile rings from the 70's I had on the shelf and file fit them down to work with the 4.080 bore. The cam is a 270h comp that came out of god knows what I had laying on the cam shelf but was in good shape. It was really fun building this with the kids and showing them what could be done with "junk" lol. It kinda broke up the every day "serious" high dollar stressful pain in the butt Racing engines we normally build. lol it's got my kids wanting to build another one 🤣and hey it makes for good content to! Take care friend!

Enjoying the build. You told me that the fillet/radius has been ground out of the crank for the most part? No troubles with cracks in that area? Some cranks are pretty prone to cracking in those parts.

Not really a problem for a stock or mild build like this one. Do I like it? Nope! If I had ground it, I would have kept the radius in it. but when we filmed this (2022) my crank grinder was down. so I had to send it to another shop to get ground. I have since gotten my grinder repaired.

Some say if you put the pistons in backwards the engine will run better ie ( Uncle Tony's Garage)
@Marksracingengines Жыл бұрын
They will make a little more power if you put them in backwards but there noisy that way. I'm not going to get drug into the middle of that debate, but on some race engines I do turn them around backwards.

@@Marksracingengines O no, say it ain't so. You mean Freiburger and Dulcich are wrong? That's ok, their heads are way too big anyways.

Did you use a moly or cast ring set and was the hone fine or course? Thanks.

Early video he stated he was using chrome faced rings.
