I used to watch Design On A Dime on HGTV and 20 minutes into the show they would do no cost decorating! They clear a room then redesign with items from around the house. I 💜 that part of the show. You are giving furnishings a new live. Life is Change and Change is Life!!! I'm enjoying the transformations of each room.

The “problem” with this video series is that Rebecca has impeccable taste and has a treasure trove of carefully curated, neutral, timeless furniture and accessories on hand. I quickly realized that the stuff I had was ugly before I moved and doesn’t look any better in its new location no matter how I swap it around :-) Tonnes of inspiration though!

My vinyl sofa was peeling. Can't afford a new one. So I wrapped it in white washable sheets and bought new pillows. Wha La! Had some old vases from my late mom and painted them, then bought fake succulents from Michael's on sale. Found a coffee table at the dumpster in my complex, scratches and all it looks fantastic. Got ugly fake furniture? Paint it. 😉

When you are an interior designer and you have 6 pods worth of stuff, of course you can make it work! I do love here style though and I will use it as inspiration. I just think she’s out of touch with the average person that can’t afford much. But like someone else said, paint can work wonders and some people are good with thrifting so we can all make do with a smaller budget.

I subscribe to your model of 'using what you have'. I 'shop' in my own home first, and it is always surprising how I find things that fit my need but had put away years before. Your new window/bar moment is absolutely beautiful and a great way to incorporate, into your new home, something that is not only beautiful but meaningful to you.

Rebecca and her ocurrences, every thing that occures to you fits like a glove; your vintage window, the cart bar, the art on the wall, the coffee table, the side stacked tables, the sofa and the loveseat you know instinctively how to balance your furniture. Everything looks harmoniously. Waiting for the finishing touches.

Rebecca you’re an artist. My brother-in-law was a brick mason. His work with brick and stone was taken to the next level. Everything he did was a work of art. He learned the basics from my father, but as I said Norm stepped it up to the next level. His competition would take clients and take credit for Norm’s work. None of Norm’s competition could hold a candle to his work. His work with brick and stone was always breathtaking! That is exactly how I look at your talent in decorating. It’s a talent that is all your own. The same talent describes Norm.

Having your expert instruction on doing it well is very much appreciated! I have to admit I’m a fan of “the fussy” so I hope you’ll add a bit of that elegance and sophistication in your new formal living room! Every room doesn’t have to have the same personality and I know you can find all sorts of ways to create flow between different styles. Can’t wait to see what you are planning! 😍🥰😍

In response to your question- where the 4 leave pictures you had in your previous home in the hallway outside your half bath on the first floor? I knew you'd definitely keep those as I remember how you jazzed them up to make them so beautiful in your previous home. They look so nice in your tv room. I simply adore how you brought your beloved glass panel from CA into OK home and had the carpenter help work it. It turned out like it's always belonged there. It added additional light along with the vintage and beauty to that nook. Honestly, the relaxed, chill TV room in your new place is very calming. Love how you keep on teaching through your videos Rebecca!! Continued blessings!!

Rebecca, I love that you don’t shop for furniture at a single store and showcased a thrift shop bar cart. Series Using What You Have is a welcome slap in face to fast fashion disposable furniture mind set. Someone commented you have “a treasure trove of carefully curated, neutral, timeless furniture and accessories…” When starting out, buy well made furniture with good bones and you can move it from house to house and make it work with many different room decor styles.

love and appreciate these videos so much. We just bought a 6000sqft house on acreage and are completely updating the inside early 90's original look(tudor), the kitchen was just gutted this week! but we currently live in 1800sqft. Already trying to imagine where my current pieces will go and what new ones I'll need to fill it up but keep it classy minimalist. Love your style!

Wonderful video! Informative and inspiring! I love that you incorporate many things from your previous home and that those items were purchased at very different times when styles were different. It’s inspiring to see how they “work” in any space.

Hi Rebecca, Thanks for inspiring your viewers to use what they have! I absolutely love the way you reused your sofas and changed the pillows. I also loved the way you used the white blankets to preserve your sofas!!!

Love the series Using What You Have! Moved into this house in May 2020 and repurposed several items in different ways and rooms. Now in Phase II where we’re taking each room, one at a time, and focusing our resources to bring each space to the finished level. In regard to pictures - I remember them on wall between bathroom and laundry room in your San Diego home.
