This is the 3rd video I've made about this Jackson JS32 Series Rhoads V that I bought used for $220. I finally have the guitar in its final form with new pickups, new wiring, a new bridge and nut, and even new strap locks!
Anything else I should add? I think it might be done!

@@rubberthe3 I let my luthier friend route for the tremolo system but I didnt change the nut and instead just installed locking tuners in it. @@lempuujjj2877 I scratch a graphite pencil into the nut with a drop of 3-in-1 oil, work the trem aggressively, then tune up. The graphite-oil lube keeps the strings from snagging in the nut and it stays in tune even after full-sag dives.

Hey max. I had to scroll a bit to find this video. I got a similar Jackson but in lefty. It's the gun metal grew one. I added a Lefty Gotoh 1996t, Black Winters, a right handed Jackson neck from a King V, which I sanded and added a new Jackson logo, Gotoh nut and tuners. It's now a budget, kinda shred machine. You inspired me to make what I wanted.

I like to imagine Randy Rhoads is looking down on this video and smiling... 🙂💜 The only thing I don't like very much, and this is purely a stylistic thing, is the set of Kwikplug pickups you have installed. They sound extremely saturated to my ear and not to allow a lot of bass or mid-range, or any particularly warm response. It all sounds unusually Line 6 Spider V, especially with delay over top. Honestly, I feel the stock pickups were a lot more muscular, lacking character though they may have. I appreciate you giving people an idea of how easy they are to set up and an idea of how they sound, of course. You've done the lord's work, and this channel is unerringly important, beyond a shadow of a doubt.

I have the exact guitar. At this dude's advice I upgraded the locking nut to a Floyd Rose 1000 series nut. The Jackson branded bridge is fine for me but now I'm curious about the titanium hardware. Mine is natural finish with gold hardware so when I upgrade the pickups I'm going gold Fishman Fluence classics. Also this dude is spot on regarding the neck and frets. $400 and the neck and frets quality easily rival my $1,400 Schecter.

I really liked seeing this. I did a pickup swap on my RR JS32 and added Seymour Duncan Thrash Factors. I also changed the nut for the same reasons mentioned here, but kept the stock FR and the guitar plays and sounds insanely good now. I love Jackson’s JS32 line. Really good guitars for the price and with a little TLC and a few upgrades, you’ll get a super fast playing guitar that sounds killer. I bought everything new and spent around 600 bucks total. I'm doing the same modifications on the same guitar (except it's a black body with white bevels) i got the body, just the V shape part for around $80 usd, and i had a Jackson JS32 neck lying around, so far, with the hardware i wanted, minus the pickups, this guitar's been around $230 usd, i might try the GFS pickups and wiring, which will rise me up to less than $330 and i think for a "customized" guitar is an absolute win.

A couple of suggestions for further mods: one, a regular Floyd brass block. A big block would be overkill, and this will be better than the zinc one you have. When you add the block, head down to a place that sells fasteners and replace the screws that hold the block with hardened steel screws. They make a difference for literal pennies. Then replace the neck screws with stainless equivalents. The guitar will ring out better, and the neck will move less.

After spending tens of thousands of dollars on equipment over the last 30+ years I have come to the conclusion that expensive guutars are a total waste for a hack like me. I now use a couple of JS32 series Jacksons as my core pieces. Although both my Dinky and Rhoads are TOM bridge rather than Floyd equipped. I have a JS34Q with the stock "Jackson by Floyd Rose" and it is a bit of a weak point. For me, I went to Amazon and bought the titanium insert blocks for 30.00 and there was a stainless screw kit that had the 3 nut screws, 6 saddle screws and 6 locking screws for 13.00. While I was there and taking everything apart, I also splurged for the Floyd "Big Block" brass block (32mm) and the Floyd (black) noiseless springs for 16.00. You don't need to replace the block or springs if you don't want, but for 43.00 those blocks and screws significantly improved my tuning stability... And as a side benefit (similar to Maxx's guitar) the stainless and titanium look really nice against the black bridge. If you're at all interested, these are the links to the blocks and screws. www.amazon.com/dp/B00MEVC3SA/?coliid=IA1KU1PXZYQBH&colid=2E87JESDA291S&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it&pldnSite=1 www.amazon.com/Locking-Mounting-FR-Tremolo-Electric/dp/B07L3QVGQX/ref=sr_1_34?dchild=1&keywords=titanium+floyd+rose+saddle+blocks&qid=1627352450&sr=8-34&pldnSite=1

Those ultra hot pickups will really surprise you how true they sound to real single coils since they are basically equal output to true single coils when split down to half power. Both to same spec's) this Special with the titanium upgrades is Awesome. The only thing I would do is make sure the block on back is Brass. Or some special have brass with nickel plate on it.. Sweet Axe. I'm thinking of going for a JS32kelly I also have the titanium string locking blocks in saddles. The difference between them and the standard is night and Day.

I would paint the body. White isn't very "metal" lol. 🤘🎵🎼🎸 A coil split on the tone control would give it more variety for clean tones. I owned a cheaper one than yours, it had dot fret markers and a Jackson trem, but 2 volumes and one tone. I reversed the phase of one pickup and wired a push/pull tone control for coil splits. Made the stock pickups way more versatile. Ended up selling it to a guy I work with so I know it found a good home. I miss modifying budget guitars. But I traded a bunch of cheaper ones for fewer nicer ones.

As I collect more FR guitars, I think I am seeing how much the tech had been maligned, mostly due to the futzzing that takes time to learn. Also find it interesting the whole sordid tales of the early FRs and Fernandes' efforts to promote it, then getting pushed out by FR for Schaller. Who said NAMM intrigues aren't interesting.

I’ve bought a number of these used on the private market. They’re fun to play, but almost always come with a severely chipped tip between a fin to the headstock. Wearing one around a studio or rehearsal space definitely takes some getting used to with adjusting your spacial awareness a bit. Like driving a Mini Cooper for 10-years, then moving into a 1976 Cadillac El Dorado. I’d pivot to adjust my amp or tweak a pedal, just to hit something like a cymbal stand, mic stand, wall, amp, my coffee, the wife, kids, the dog, the other dog, my 3 cats, Max, etc. Cool looking guitars, but I’ll not personally own another unless I get one at an unbeatable price to be used later as trade fodder.

Kick ass guitar. I just got the Schecter E-1 FR in TPB a few weeks ago. The guitar is awesome, and I got turned onto it by your video. Only issue I had with the guitar is that the fine tuners are very rough, but they work.

Sweet those upgrades really turned it into a super shredder!! Been tossing the idea around of swapping my js Kelly pickups with the sd Loomis pickups. Love the look of those will make the Kelly pop

Looks like you're down to kill switch and cosmetics. I had a RR1 back in the day. Didn't like the jumbo frets, or the 22 vs 24 frets. Pawned it, a strat, and a fender bullit. never bothered to get them back. The bullit is the only one I miss. I bought it to use the neck for a build. Took it totally apart, and it was absolutely perfect - flawless. So I put it back together.

I have a grey left handed JS32 Rhoads and I tried to replace the licensed Floyd with a Floyd Special except I bought it from the Floyd Rose website along with the titanium blocks, ect. I tried putting it on and it wouldn't align with the mounting screws then the high E string wouldn't align with the fretboard. Now I'm thinking about just putting the licensed one back in and replacing it with the titanium stuff because I was breaking strings.

I have no problem with the pickups that came with it but the whole cheap Floyd has got to go.I opened the trem cavity and one of the claw screws was sticking out and crooked! But the thing is it plays great as is for the time being!

Decorate it with some custom art on the body! And add the ability to switch between active and passive!

Looks great and sounds awesome. The only thing I'd add would be a stabilizer. Bar stabilizers work very well, but the slingshot and double spring stabilizers are probably better for back bends and down tuning. Peace

I'm doing the same thing with an Epiphone SG. I got it for $80 on an online auction site. I kept it in my work truck for about a year to noodle with on my lunch hour, somehow the neck didn't warp or twist from the heat. I'm keeping the original bridge as it just doesn't go out of tune! I'll probably just change out the electronics. (Pick ups, controls, etc)

Looks great! In my humble opinion if you want to kick it up a notch, perhaps adding a custom wrap (ex. inzane skins). Perhaps Pinhead theme (Hellraiser), kitty cats, or something.
