Agree with the other replies, plus I'd add that since you're supposed to use such a small amount of it every few days, you can really stretch a tube out. So if you calculate price/uses I think it would be comparatively cheap (that said, adapalene gel is awesome and like $14)

We love you Dr Idress! 🥰 .. Can we get a list of best & strongest Retinals for *non-beginners?* So much content for beginners! Which is great! But what about us almost Tretinoin Stage? Or Tret a couple times a week, integrating with Retinal on other nights. All I know of is Avene, who I trust, Naturium which I'm wary of quality.. and Medic8? MyChell? I feel like I've gotta be missing some information here and have no idea what I'm doing 😂

She’s a derm… do you think she doesn’t use high end products (she has her own line so the formulation is going to be to her standards); she also gets injections and who knows what else… and does she use filters on here? Probably. I don’t doubt she looks great but it’s not strictly because of winning any genetic lottery or haphazard.

Can you please do some stuff on adult acne? I never had breakouts, but recently out of nowhere my skin is covered in acne and it won’t stop, especially my cheeks, both sides of my chin, my forehead. I use salicylic acid, I use benzoyle peroxide, I use sulfur face wash, I use bha/aha. I cannot get rid of it and it’s like the bane of my existence. It came out of nowhere and now it won’t go away. For reference I’m 31 year old female, whose skin is more on the oily side

@@ellycrisz4536 it’s not healed fully but I did find some solutions I’ve stopped breaking out and now it’s just getting rid of the overall scarring and few existing comedones but they’re mostly too the surface and turning into white heads then healing. First I overhauled my diet. Cut out processed foods as much as I can, drinking tons of water, coconut water (for real hydration) home made green smoothies with added healthy fats like avocado, chia seeds, 70%+ dark chocolate, coconut oil, walnuts - different varieties. Drinking green tea and rooibos & spearmint. Also taking an organic maca root supplement (for hormone balance) & fermented foods like kimchi and kefir for probiotics + a high quality probiotic. As far as skin care Oil cleanser + gentle face wash. 2 days a week I use a salicylic acid and one day a week I use sulfur. The other days a super gentle one. For cleanser, I alternate between using some by mi aha/bha toner and Paula’s choice. I only used these for a few days, once my skin started to get raw I switched off of them to just an essence (mugwort). After toner I use 5% niacinimide serum then apply thick rich moisturizer & retinol - I used resurfacing from cerave. And I also alternate with my prescription .05% Tret (I use that once to twice a week). I use a thick oil especially around my eyes (crows feet,eyelids and under eyes) upper lip, and over acne. I use a high quality oil combo of rose hip, castor and argan oil. When my skin barrier is raw around my nose or cheeks (from exfoliating acids or retinol) I’ll use beef tallow, the oil on the spots and then put a layer of cica plast over it. Instantly better in the am. I’m also doing hydrolyzed collagen in my morning tea with 1000-2000mg organic source vitamin c. High quality krill oil, nattokinase, turmeric & NAC supplements. My skin is GLOWING AND sooooo even. The acne is healing so fast. I’m kinda just paying attention to how my skin feels and formulating my routine to how it’s looking. My skin responds amazing to the beef tallow & oil. As well as vitamin c serum & niacinimide. It can only handle so much of the exfoliating acids and so much of retinol. It responds well to it but only in small yet consistent doses. Lastly once a week I’m washing my face then steaming my face, doing a mud mask followed by a tea tree oil sheet mask, followed my gentle simple moisturizing skin care routine. For the most part I am NOT washing my face in the am, just micellar water. My skin drinks up the oil at night and is not super oily in the am. I know it sounds counter-intuitive to put oil in my face because I’m oily however if I use sulfur wash or any form of retinol my skin gets DRY. The oil is the ONLY thing that prevents that and repairs my skin barrier. I hope that wasn’t too much and made sense.
@shannonm2005
@shannonm2005 Ай бұрын
@@ellycrisz4536 correction * The oil I use is a rose hip, castor oil and black seed oil combo. And I forgot to add I religiously use a rose water and glycerine spray on my skin everytime it’s completely naked (immediately following freshly washing it) Then I do a toner or essence, then my actives and serums, then moisturizer and whatever topical stuff like the tallow, cicaplast or oil. Retinol only at night, exfoliating acids mainly in the morning. Oil usually am & pm and beef tallow/cica plast only when skin is raw and irritated from retinol or acids. And I cut back drastically on both until my skin barrier is healed. It usually takes a day or so. When skin barrier is irritated I only use simply nourishing stuff.

@@zerotoleranceforsataniceli4794 idk about them, and i’ve never used any other retinol, but for me it has helps so much with my acne, i hardly get pimples now, and i haven’t had cystic acne since i started using it. it does make my skin dry but sunscreen/aquaphor in the morning helps with that.

@@zerotoleranceforsataniceli4794Differin (adapalene) is more potent than retinol, and in a lot of countries (such as where I live) it's only available on prescription. It's typically used more for acne but it absolutely does help with wrinkles and fine lines, even moreso than retinol. Adapalene is more irritating than retinol, however it is more well-tolerated than other retinoids such as tretinoin.

not bad just misleading to say “0.1% retinol” when it’s not. they could’ve said “0.1% retinoids” to be accurate. afaik the granactive one at least is newer and doesn’t have as much research/proof about it so it’s dishonest to treat it as if it’s the same as retinol

@rubyinferno7578
@rubyinferno7578 2 ай бұрын
Retinol would actually be less effective than epiduo. Epiduo is a combination of adapalene and benzoyl peroxide. Adapalene in itself is a more potent retinoid than retinol is; it's only available on prescription in a lot of countries. You could try epiduo forte if that's available to you? It's 0.3% adapalene instead of 0.1%. Otherwise, you could definitely try tretinoin, but be careful because it's more irritating than adapalene.

So if you dont have 30 plus dollars a month plus $$ for a retinol, vitamen c, $$ for a moisturizer and a sunscreen. You must have yucky skin. Id prefer some drugstore products under 20$ a pop or less because currently i use either neuterogena or cetaphil line and at most want to spend $40 month on resupply. Im ok with my skin at 64. Try catering to people who have limited fund or BOTH. Unless all of you tube viewers have ooodles of cash.

@autummsun hi thank you for the suggestions. Next time I stock up I will give olay or cetaphil a chance. I'm really happy currently with neuterogena vitamen c brightening cream and the hylonronic acid gel. Do these have those bad qualities in them ?

Why would you list a product as a “buy” then rant off its negatives first! Makes no sense
@larsnanders
@larsnanders 2 ай бұрын
The ‘negative’ in question is just a misleading amount of an active which is wrongful but doesn’t take away from the product’s usefulness

@PoundTown as a consumer u should want to know if they are misleading you. which is exactly the info she is giving you. she is still telling u its a great budget retinol but also giving you info u should know.

It really wasn't a harmful "negative." She just clarified labels. Not sure if you're trolling, or if you're just... confused.
