Well. Danny bought a 1986 Ford E250 with a very unique pop-out by Sundowner. I have never seen another van quite like this one. He bought it off of a retired surfer in Pismo, California and it has the potential to be the ultimate beach camper!

I actually MADE a pop out for a 5th wheel. Its 6' x 6' x 6' and makes the 5th wheel over 20' wide when extended.

@@richardhenry1969 I am actually building a channel for it because I have a step by step video of how I did it. I actually cut a 6' x 6' hole in the side, re routed wires and its all on hinges to it folds up and only sticks out a few inches. I will keep you o my list when I get the pics downloaded soon.

Look up the Roadtrek Ideal SS. It had a rear slide. I actually made a DIY version of that design.

@ 15:27 ... "AOD transmission" as evidenced by the circle around the D and the second D, then L I love this thing ! and he's right, the 302's really do run almost forever with decent care.

This is a great van, treat it good and it will take you anywhere. I had a Ford 302 van, best vehicle ever, 482K before I sold it.

I had a 87" Three on the Tree , her name was "The Beast MRU" MRU= mobile race unit and she was a beast never failed us got us to the races every weekend they are Great Vans will run forever had 435K miles if you give them proper love miss her 😢 💓🏁

That's awesome guys. I spent the better part of a year converting a 1988 E150 from a derelict handicap van to a full on boogie van. I love my van, it's also a 5.0L and goes pretty good. Can't beat an Econoline! I'm taking my van on Power tour this year and that should be a blast!

Haven't been a van person since my hippie days, but this was reason enough to subscribe to see more. I don't want to see all the cars I wish I had kept though. My favorite car I wish I still had though is the baby blue '58 Desoto convertible. Liked it as much as my '57 Chevy Convert.

FORD F.irst O.n R.ace D.ay the extended roof is called a turtle top. I've been driving Ford vans for 43 years now. I'm currently in a E150 with a 4.6 liter V8 and it has 290,000 miles on it. That beast will go through 2 feet of snow with a car hooked to it. Pulling it through the snow, man that thing just says fun. .

Awesome rig!!!. I would move the seats close to the pop out and level them so it makes one big bed when popped out. Have the walkway close to the door and flir the countertop accordingly

Sweet acquisition! I put the same seats in my ‘77 Dodge van when I modified it for camping. They were very popular back then.

@@agillesp they were fabric facing bench seats that could fold flat to make a double size bed. Very common accessory for vans back in the 70s. Also replaced the stock front vinyl seats with matching bucket seats and the passenger seat also could recline to a sleeping position.

Love this van. The pop-out is so cool. I've never seen one before. Just watched the other van build-up episodes. You guys did a great job on it. I also love how you guys take us on your road trips to the beach and other places in your area so we get to see what it's like there. I don't know exactly where you are in California but it looks like a beautiful area to live. Makes me wish I could drive my own custom van out there!

I live in New Zealand and i have never seen a pop out like that here but my aunt in Australia has an early 90s Toyota hiace van with the same one as this and it works well but is cold and dafty in winter

Actually you can put boards across the top where they cut off the old roof. Removable with a thin memory foam mattress. You can stick a couple of kids up there.
