Another great vid, My late Father had that same class 22, he set it running on his layout and forgot about it and went bed. He drifted off to sleep wondering what the whirring noises that he could hear was. In the morning the loco was knackered having run for hours so I stripped the motor out of it and found another on ebay. He then ran it as a dummy in a double header just like the real thing, as by all accounts they weren't the most reliable loco!!

About the Lima trains that won't drive on small radius curves... We Continental modelers differentiate between classic Lima (G motor, low weight, molded details) and the so-called 'Lima Nova' range, with all the things you'd expect from Roco and so on. The last ones are practically limited to a minimum radius of about 400mm. There were also some transitional variations which came with separate details on slightly revised old castings. And to make sure that everyone is even more confused, the department store HEMA also had a few special editions. Your BO-BO kits will probably fit on the HEMA class 33 too.

Great video guys. I enjoyed watching trains going round and round chasing it's caboose. I am in a micro layout group and have taken up a challenge. To build an operating micro layout inside a baseball case. The layout must be operational. 1 engine one or two cars, at least two points possibly 3. A topical US base at is 33 inches overall. The case would be 34 & 1/2 inches in length. The width 3&1/2 to 4 inches. Height would be same as the width. Making the case more of a rectangular box. I am thinking of.... OO9 scale. Anyways always love your videos. and especially the beautiful layouts you two design.

Nice to see the locos running around, very relaxing, as mentioned in the last video. I kinda want a Coca-Cola bagnall myself (which's weird because I don't actually like Coca-Cola that much, I prefer Pepsi myself). Regarding the Bachmann Junior models, it is a shame. You'd think having starter models for kids/new people to the hobby would be good. I personally want one of Stuart (though maybe Mattel got after them on that, which's why they don't make them anymore, seeing as it's just a faceless Thomas).

@Budget Model Railways , I thought that was one of the reasons for the Coca Cola set, was surprised to hear you call it awful just after saying you’re not worried about accuracy, when it’s hopefully going to get younger ones interested (that includes my son!) he also loves the yellow Bagnal. Well, you've got twice my roster of LNER/LMS locos with your little diesel fleet. Anyway, this is a good show to see those running on your layout, especially for me. I might have been a cow grazing besides a railway line in a previous life... Anyway, I am thinking about a folding travel layout the size of a large suitcase, to run trains when I'm in holidays with my mother 600 km away from home... You have done plenty of interesting things I can use for it.

Great video and content. Some advise please. I want to create a track in my sons room. Space is limited, so was thinking of a suspended / shelf loop around his room. I have seen some online, but wanted to know if you have done anything like this. Also what is the tightest radius on the turns that will not damage or cause derailments. For scenes, I will need them to be light weight, any ideas for tunnels and bridges.
@BudgetModelRailways
@BudgetModelRailways 4 жыл бұрын
1st radius is fine for most locos, even large ones, we have two videos on this if it helps. But be careful of newer locos, esp larger ones as for various reasons they can be very restricted with some only suitable for 2nd or even 3rd radius! Most older second hand locos will be fine. Almost everything on the layout, bridges tunnels hills buildings can be made from cardboard , its our main building material so we have lots of videos on this. I am also using some of the cheap Dapol buildings now which might be good (video out Friday) but shop around on price. Hope this helps. Email us if you need longer answers or me info if you like happy to help

Thank you. Great advice as always. What would you do.but a hornby starter kit and then buy additional track to add on, or buy it all separately. Also what would you suggest for dc analogue control? It is all compatible. What gauge is the same as hornby.
@BudgetModelRailways
@BudgetModelRailways 4 жыл бұрын
Yes a starter set is best but shop around and you can usually get one discounted down to £50-60, its contents would cost over £80 separately. You will also get a controller, they are not the best but OK for running a train round an oval. We bought one from Aldi for £50 at Christmas. Shop around carefully for any additions you buy, prices vary hugely especially online. Try Kernow Model Centre, AGR Models, The Island Railway Shop or Hattons, who all discount new online. Better still buy second hand especially track and points, we have never bought these new and have had no issues. Peco points are the same price as Hornby but far superior. Take a look at our website for a good DC do it yourself, cheap controller.

@BudgetModelRailways
@BudgetModelRailways 4 жыл бұрын
Smokey Joe and the other 0-4-0 locos should be about £20. Hornby will sell you the motorised chassis for £8, there is no way a plastic body should add £32 to the retail! I wouldn't describe any loco as only £249, but I guess there will be enough enthusiasts to pay that kind of money, it's five times my budget for any loco
