These birds are much more intelligent than most people give them credit for. They might not be "do your taxes" smart but what I am saying is a couple million years from now there's a very good chance they will evolve and rule the world. This bird isn't frustrated for a second! He's acting as if the ball was a female - what he's doing is basically courtship, that's how budgies do it. He's excited and "in love", that's all. Poor guy wants a girlfriend.

Ah, I do miss the adorable budgies I had during my childhood (green one called Percy, blue one called Nigel). Can't really have one now as the family flies around the house leaving doors and windows open. Training them to shut them would be more difficult than training a budgie to say, 'Pretty boy.'

A budgie is a parakeet, but then so is an indian ringneck or a cockatiel. Parakeet is NOT another word for budgie. The term means small parrot with a long tail. Which means literally thousands of birds can be correctly called a parakeet.
