I wish stats tracked the yardage, first downs and points called back because of penalties. The stat sheet says 1 penalty for 10 yards, but it was a 66 yard TD pass. So the penalty was not 10 yards but 76 -- plus 7 points. (Maybe a 10 second runoff, too, itself a dubious procedure).

I like Staley as a coach but to say that it's not the defense's fault you lost when that's the only part of the team he's responsible for is a really bad look. I bet the rest of the coaching staff feels thrown under the bus for no reason

He makes bad play calls consistently and with the guys we have on defense we shouldn't be ranked 31st in the league. Nothing changes, he's too confident. He's so worried about forcing the guys to play his way, which clearly doesn't work, that he's wasting the whole team's talent. It's crazy we can put up the numbers we do on the board and lose almost every game only to have Staley try to blame it on offense every week.

Number 87 ought to just go to the locker room and not hang around in the hall trading insults with the opposition. 3. The Jets had lost their poise and were spoiling for a fight, it was not necessary to antagonize them.

You used to hear it a lot. Touchdown dances and other celebrations used to be illegal. It would piss the opponents off (the Cowboys in particular hated it) and fights would start. But players wouldn't stop and the fans loved it, so the league acquiesced. They did keep the rule against "Taunting" to limit the disrespect and provocation.

I dont see anything wrong with s suplex as long as its not after the whistle. Offense is trying to run forward, defense is trying to prevent it. Easiest way to prevent it is to lift his feet off the ground. Thats why they teach you to wrap and lift when you tackle. If you're behind the ball carrier, that lift turns into a suplex. Id rather see that than a hip drop and trapping sometimes ankle under your entire body weight.

Offsetting penalties are no penalty. They should literally penalize both teams. Each team can throw a 15 yard flag any time they want would be a cool rule.

Those were two different people. Staley (the one that was talking in this interview) is HC of the Chargers. Matt Canada (The one that got fired) was the OC of the Steelers
