sounds like its going to die, dont ever let your buell idle that low and then try to smash on the gas hard... your going to kill that motor. It already died on its own, you think thats normal? Poor bike

the fact that the engine is a sportster engine probably has nothing to do with that
@Gloomshadow1009 жыл бұрын
***** its not a Sportster motor in the XB models... they share only 1 part I can think of. Its based on a Sportster but it has been tweaked so far outside the Sportster envelope that its not the same engine anymore.

+locomojo0485 Except no one wants a 650lbs motorcycle with obsolete suspension tho....
@locomojo04858 жыл бұрын
Yes... Buell is a defunct manufacturer who use Harley engines the last few years with some performance bits. Probably why they no longer exist now... Nobody wanted a sporty Harley.. (how ironic that even sounds) I agree with Roy... a bike that size should be much over 450lbs wet, most are even less.
@deadbolt90198 жыл бұрын
+locomojo0485 Buell still exists and is selling bikes. Look at EBR Racing (yup same guy). They were simply more than "a harley engine with some bits on it". Seriously guys like you that make me wanna dump the 3 Harleys I have in the garage to disassociate myself with the brand entirely. I think you also didn't realize that Roy was talking about HARLEYS weighing 650lbs with shit suspension. Buells weighed in much lighter their their pig brethren. The lighting weighed 395lbs. I know this is a bit of a rant but seriously the Harley crowd have really always pissed me off with their inability to see beyond the over hyped marketing garbage. I ride my new Indian way more than the Harleys. Better bike all in all than the ancient marketing machine Harleys.
@deadbolt90198 жыл бұрын
locomojo0485 The old Buells competed with the 600cc I4 bikes (R6 is about 100hp). CC to CC is hard to compare when different engine configurations are taken into account, although the new "old tech" Buells make 185hp from a V-Twin. Personally for speed I like the Euro singles and twins (Ducati/KTM). The Japanese bikes are nice just a bit to souless for me. Singles/Twins make great low-end torque which for me makes riding around ever day more enjoyable. Remember there is no need to hate on a Brand, style, engine type, etc, all motorcycles have something to offer. As far as "old tech" goes, V8 pushrod motors are still some of the best performers out there. Look at the LS-x block engines. Small, light, and extremely powerful without being complex.

Not for nothing but your Buell "sond's" like crap... and you spell it SOUND. Your idle is way too low, probably due to poor maintenance, or a vast number of reasons. In any case, that bike wont last long no matter how much " wax on-wax off" you do on it, or even if you just crank up the idle. Theres probably a reason why... try to: 1.) Replace intake Y-Pipe doughnut gaskets every 3 years, yes you have to pull the throttle body and intake. 2.) Clean and adjust throttle body and butterfly valve, clean with throttle body cleaner, not carb cleaner. 3.) Always keep your primary chain adjusted properly, no it wont tension itself. 4.) Keep your exhaust valve, and keep that properly adjusted.. adjustment is on top of your airbox. 5.) Never run an open loop exhaust system, always keep your O2 sensors, or risk burning pistons running it lean 6.) Never use regular oil even if synthetic, always use V-Twin or diesel engine oil, due to roller bearings and heat 7.) Be mindful of remaping, tunning, or downloading maps off the internet. If you want it to last reset to factory 8.) * And for God sakes check your oil pump worm gear, not on pump itself, but on the crank, you can see it looking up after you remove your oil pump, through the hole. Some engines eat these worm gears and we call those engines "eaters". This is a Harley Davidsons Achilles heel. Otherwise they run pretty much forever. Theres an old saying among bikers, the echelon in desending order of things that will survive the apocalipse are: Cockroaches, then McDonalds fries, and Sportsters... and a Buell uses Sportster engines.

8 years later, the whole world knows what a POS this is. Good for the first 8k miles and then weld the frame and replace the motor and transmission. Biggest POS to ever hit the highway. Break downs every 200 miles.
