I actually like your initial assessment on the cap space. It is logical and strategically more beneficial for the Bills to hold off on trading for anyone else at this point. Worst case is they do a trade, the person hurts themselves, we have more injuries and then we are completely hamstrung for the season. Makes way more sense to wait until partway through the season and look at our options at that point in time. Just because we have the money we don’t need to go out and spend it all.

At this point I think it makes more sense for him to be an assistant coach. Don't ask him to put in the crazy hours. Just have him around the team and coaching up the guys without asking him to risk his health and doesn't count as a roster spot.

Based on last season Joe, LB and CB in season injuries, can’t see where Beane is shopping now, rather as you predict, have flexibility to react if needed. Totally agree

Good listen. It provides food for thought. Outside of DE and Corner, I see the Bills being OK to start the season. Injuries happen so Berane keeping his powder dry makes the most sense. Now if someone came to the Bills and offered a Deebo Samuel at a reasonable price, I'm sure the Bills will be more than happy to take the call.

Definitely agree with WR assessment: No trades, no big names, we've got our guys. Chase Claypool will make the cut. Shakir, Samuel, and Coleman/MVS is a high/average starting trio.

Joe, what about Reggie Gilliam coming in for pass protection? If we don’t want a guy like Latavius Murray getting touches, but agree he’d be good for pass blocking, I’d love to see Gilliam fill in for obvious passing situations rather than signing another one-dimensional guy off the street.

The Bills' need's are at corner. The 2 starters, Benford and Douglas, are running around 4.5. If former 1st rpund pick Alam isn't seen as a 3rd db, they have to get some faster players. The Dolpjhins have 2 burners in Hill and Wattle plus to 2 fast RB's. Now KC has Worthy and Brown. Cincy has Chase and Higgins. Most of the teams the Bills have scheduled have at least one burner (sub 4.4) or other 2nd burner. The Jets have Garrett Wilson and their RB Hall is a sub 4.4. Baltimore and the Niners are also with burners, either WR's, and/or RB.

@LockedOnBills Joe, what do you think about Travis Clayton as a Full Back? A good place to learn blocking and his speed and Rugby background could be amazing in pass pro and just imagine our run game with our RB's getting a huge blocker to run behind!

I really dislike when the RB’s at the top of your depth chart are weak in pass protection. So you look to add someone who is good in pass pro, but what are you really getting? It’s such a disadvantage to have a player whose presence on the field pretty much telegraphs what you plan to do.

Like Burks, I'd give another disappointing '22 first rounder a look and check in on Lewis Cine. Maybe a change of scenery can do him well. Also, because he hasn't been able to crack the defense, he's amassed a decent amount of special teams snaps.

The Bills should be thinking Travis Clayton for the pass protection running back. Of course, I saw a rugby video with him carrying the ball and I'm thinking the first 6 plays the Bills should run every game should be a pitch right to Travis Clayton and set up the blocking so the edge rusher or linebacker has to make the tackle. I see 4 yards on each of these plays and worn out edge rusher and linebackers chasing Cook the rest of the game.

People should go with the idea that they won’t be making anymore moves. Yeah they can make trade for a guy and have the contract back loaded for it to work today, but this team is in a rebuild year and it feels like it’d be better off to be more aggressive next off season

It's up to the coaches to emphasize pass protection in the running back room. Getting another back just means one of the youth will not be here.

I like being stacked at CB & S Id sign one just to be safe. Benford, Douglas, Johnson, Edwards, Bishop. What if one goes down are we really gonna ball out against high rank teams with Elam or Rapp. What if Taron Johnson goes down, who's gonna replace all the tough tackles and plays he makes, Lewis isn't it, Hardy is a rookie, Rapp can he cover if Edwards goes down. Hamlin is good but can he hold it down.

Joe - beane always likes to point out that the practice squad players are also counted on the cap and that most people don’t factor that in. Is the practice squad already factored into your numbers and analysis? With practice squads growing bigger, that could be a big number not accounted for.

The possibilities are endless. Think of all the other sports with athletes who’ve never played one down of organized football that Beane and his scouts could find players from! So far they have only rugby and wrestling “represented.” But with the extra $10 million they should absolutely be able to get some marginal minor league baseball player who loves to lift weights to come to camp. A struggling power forward from the NBA’s D league basketball program perhaps? How about a young AHL defenseman or goon who loves to hit? Bring them all into training camp I say! The new motto of The Buffalo Bills: “If you’ve never played high school football but are below average in your chosen professional sport, our coaches can make NFL players out of you!” 😂

Someone like Mahomes don't know how well anyone on the Bills will be playing in the 1st or 2nd half of the season.. If something came up and a player was absolutely, no question about it in needed, then what? I'm sure he'd be ok with the Bills having no cap space left or just enough left to get a mediocre, non-hard hitter. He'd just carve us up an/or their defense will just stop Josh & the boys. Another Chiefs win again from injuries.

The Bills need to be conservative with the salary cap rather than trade for a guy that is going to cost a lot of money. Josh is very underpaid and his contract will be redone. There are other really good players to resign next offseason and if they’re smart, they’ll sign them early and get more value.

Bring Micah in for training camp as sort of a player/coach. Otherwise, Micah needs to retire to protect his health. Those stingers indicate that he is too susceptible for more injury to his neck area. Maybe the Bills have to tell him for his own good. Love Micah and wish him the best in retirement.
