There was a small loud delusional, contingent on Devils Twitter that thought this was possible because Mike Rupp & Biz brought it up. I never took it seriously. Brady is a unicorn in this league, and the moment he's traded, your GM would be handed a pink slip.

He’s got an element to his game that a lot of people including myself value and like. But he’s also got a family of professional hockey players behind him. He’s going to walk in three years. Sorry to hurt your feelings. Get something for him while you still can.

@@ericschultz1554 They'll milk him for 2 years and get all they can. Then trade him if it comes about him wanting to leave. Would be horrible he gets traded this summer or the GM will be ran out of the city. And any how, I'd listen to the offers, but without anything worthwhile, there won't be any deals.

@@DBeau73 This is all you need to know. Last 5 seasons. 1). G 190 GA 238 2). G 155 GA 189 3). G 224 GA 264 4). G 259 GA 270 5). G 250 GA 281. You guys are not even close to a playoff team. Brady will walk before you get the pieces needed to close this gap. You have good power forwards, you lack playmakers, and skilled forwards, and snipers. In other words... you are in a full rebuild, because those are the numbers you're achieving with only 3.5 million remaining in cap. That's why you should take a deal and run. You're current team isn't working. And only stupid managers build on top of a busted up foundation. Which means the core group isn't working after 6 seasons of building around this piece. That's not going to magically change. So your new management has a choice. Keep this experiment up, or do what the rest of the league does. Cut your losses, build through the draft, and don't take shortcuts. Advice: You need as many high value prospects and draft picks you guys can get. I would take an average top 6 forward to keep the team afloat. a elite prospect, a first round pick, and a second round pick. It will hurt a lot less. Remember, you heard it here first.

I’m a Sabres fan and my idea was give up 2-3 first rd picks and a bunch of prospects for Brady. Buffalo has the most high end prospects in the league right now. They can afford to give up whatever it takes. Having all their own draft picks unlike most teams Buffalo could make the best offer easy. Anyone who says Buffalo doesn’t have the assets doesn’t know hockey. I wouldn’t trade for him personally, I rather watch him get mad playing for Ottawa. Remember last year Ottawa fans were talking so much smack about cup run this year, that was funny.

Why not trade a bunch of them for a top player that we need to win a cup? Let’s just go another 50 years no cup, just have a team filled with sissies. Ottawa won't take picks! They'll ask for roster players and some that Buffalo won't want to part with. The article that Lego is talking about starts saying that it is far fetched and later says that if the Sabres get this deal going they'll pay a high price.
@rone7982
@rone7982 27 күн бұрын
What a terrible article. It doesn’t seem to be based on anything other than speculation, and there is no way Ottawa makes that trade. I don’t even like Ottawa or Brady, but I respect what he brings to that team. Also, one player isn’t going to turn the Sabres into a contending team. And what’s the point of just making the playoffs if you aren’t constructing a team you think can go on a deep run.
@jammerz04

Of course it’s speculation. Like did you read the article? Brady would make the Sabres an instant playoff contender.
@DBeau73
@DBeau73 22 күн бұрын
@@jammerz04 Not really, because the Sens will probably ask a high price in exchange for Brady which surely are roster players and prospects. They won't take picks unless they give them more than just a 16th to 32nd overall pick. So instant playoff contender???? Not if you're going to lose Cozens and Quinn. A decent GM will not settle for less, a good GM would get a prospect and great GM would get these 2, the prospect and this year 1st round.
@ericschultz1554
@ericschultz1554 9 күн бұрын
For me, Brady is a the right age, has the right element we need, and will be a locker room match with his peers. Meaning he’s coming along at the same time the Sabres are about to smash down the door for many years of playoff contention. I would be willing to move three first round assets for him. Because our window is now. The fact Ottawa’s GM was just relived means they’re restricting. They know their core is missing too many pieces. They need to take what they can get for him before they get nothing for him. By next year he will only command two first round assets, then one the following year. And after that he walks test the market as a UFA. I would not want to give up the assets he would require, but the best trades are always the toughest. It is what it is.

@bjarczyk 27 күн бұрын
I didn’t like the article. All in just because we “need” to make the playoffs? The goal is to win the Stanley cup and to build a team as intelligently as possible for long term. It would be illogical to give up the barn for one player.

100% we're already there. 4 players make a step this coming season, and a few bounce back and we're at the top of the league. Now that we have a coaching style like Lindy's for this next phase. They're going to be a force to reckon with. This all without any trades, any signings from free agency. The rest is just a bonus. Because of Brady's play style though, he's probably the only player that I would entertain losing some assets that would be tough to lose though. SMH.

The Sens aren't trading Tkachuk. He still has four years at a reasonable 8.2 million cap hit per season. Sens fans would riot if he got traded especially if the return was just a package of unproven prospects. If you're going to trade for Tkachuk you'll have to offer a star player in return. Firstly, the Sabres will make the playoffs without Brady Tkachuk. We already have all the pieces, and elite talent for days in our system. Secondly, trading away 1 elite top 6, 2 elite prospect and one grade A pick barely out of the top ten is an insane ask for one elite winger with only three years left on his contract. He will be a UFA in three years. Meaning we would have to sell off an entire future first line for a three year loaner. Obviously that’s not going to work. He’s not Connor McDavid or Auston Matthews. I would also like to add… Brady Tkachuk trade value is going to drop off significantly next when he only has two years remaining on his contract. And it will fall through the floor when he hits one year before going UFA and testing the market. With that said for a player of Brady’s caliber. I would be willing to give him a first round asset for each year he has remaining on his contract. Elite top 6 forward, one elite prospect, and our 11th overall. And he’s never going to command that price point again. Just facts. Ottawa is going to have to roll the dice on whether they’re realistically going to be a playoff contender. And I’m going to tell you they’re missing too many pieces still. The Sabres are arguably the only team that would have an actual value offer for him which will payout in next few years. Buying them a little more time to put real core together. Now to wrap it up. I like Brady Tkachuk a lot and do believe he could add an element to the Sabres that is needed for this next phase (consistent playoff contention). I would be willing to send three major assets their way to secure his services. But not a penny more. We do not sell the future for a loaner. And it doesn’t guarantee us anything. We are already setup for 10 years of NHL dominance. But with that said. Brady Tkachuk is the only guy I would be willing to part with those assets for. Not because he’s the best (not even close). Because he is a piece we need.

@@charlieb308 Devils can easily top it with Mercer, Holtz, Casey + 1st pick this year. Possibly even replace Mercer for Bratt in the deal

Brady is not leaving Ottawa. It could be for Mcdavid and they would still not trade him

Yeppers, and that was a huge mistake. We were lucky to get the return we did on him. And it wasn’t great. He had more years still remaining on his contract though.

Where does this guy get his drinking water Love Canal. Brady isn't going to Buffalo, plus Buffalo is a dumpster fire of a city.
