Nina/Anna used to have Aikido basics but over the years they pretty much lost their Aikido and are called "Assasination Arts"

I like the martials arts chosen here! Boxing has always been my favorite martial art because I'm impressed of the different ways a boxer can simply punch. Steve's my favorite Tekken character, because all his dodging and weaving make some a very memorable gameplay experience. I was surprised by the Bloody Roar, I like that you showed it! Aikido is an underrated martial art. So many people know karate and judo in comparison that it makes Aikido feel unknown. Asuka is one of my favorite Tekken characters, and I really love all the grabs she can do.

Aikido doesn't play well with regular folks because it isn't a real martial art. It's meditative exercise at best, and misrepresented in terms of being a fighting style. It's pretty neat in games, sometimes, though.

Nice surprise at the end of the boxing part. Getting these "bonuses" in the videos made them even better. Sometimes a character isnt famous enough or worthy material to become fully featured in this video series, but brief mentions still work and makes the video richer of references.

Is this the first time King of Fighters is being used as an example in the different fighting game series of videos? It's neat to see the list of examples continue to expand. 0:15 - I was about to say how I particularly like Steve as a boxer in a fighting game and how he sticks to the boxing rules, but I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to punch that low in boxing. Point aside, I think the fact that Tekken has two dedicated kick buttons and Steve makes all of them into punches is really neat and makes him instantly distinct from other fighters in his series. 0:31 - Oh yeah, Steven is the only one hear who has to take into account the 3D space, so he actually needs to turn his opponent around for the punch to the stomach here. 1:08 - Oh my gosh; that's Bloody Roar! That's a heck of a surprise! Also, are Dudley and Yugo here performing the Dempsey Roll? Looks very similar. 1:49 - Tamaki's attack here looks a lot more gentle than Asuka's. Tamaki looks like she is pushing the person down whereas Asuka looks like she is knocking them down. 2:12 - E Honda's face painting is actually a nice touch that helps him stand out. From a distance I wouldn't be able to tell Ganryu or Taka-Arashi apart. 2:55 - I forgot Nyotengu has this move. I guess DOA does have some sumo representation.

Steve Fox has a few below the belt moves, I wish he didn't, because he supposedly doesn't do that sort of thing in "true boxing matches." Although, it might be very hard to play without any lows at all. About the kick buttons though, Steve has 2 kick moves, one was the stomp you saw, and another is the worst hopkick in the game (no idea why it even exists). Instead, the kick buttons for Steve are used as an evasive movement tool and it makes you feel like you are playing a whole other game when you use Steve Fox.

Yeah, likely unintentional below the hit attacks, given the circumstances of the Tekken fights. My older brother really liked Steve and played him a fair bit back in Tekken 4. He's a real cool character.@@bonfist7277

It's always bugged me that sumo characters often tend to be copy pastes from a visual design standpoint and that design is kind of boring. That's why I like Hinako, she's so atypical.

To me the boxing part could have been more packed with brief references/bonuses. It's such a famous martial art and present in so many fgs. Like, maybe with bits of TJ Combo, Heavy D and others.

Boxing is my favorite because its functionally the best imo. All ya do is hit people with your fists its so fun. Dont get me wrong i love me a good spin kick or 2 but a flurry of punches and weaves is so much more exciting

Thing is, to anyone who boxes, those styles are all so obviously different, they're easily qualifiable as separate martial arts. I think this whole subject matter(boxing in fighting games) is more about a TYPE of fighting than any STYLE of it. Boxing is a whole entire category of fighting. =)

In real life. aikido or aikijujutsu doesn't have kicking techniques or any kicks, punches, and elbows or knees in aikido and aikijujutsu. Its basically like Taido to me. If you don't know what taido is. Taido is combat version of aikijutsu. Its like capoeira(flips, tricks, jump kicks, and rolling) with karate and aikijujutsu combined together. Kazama style martial arts is most likely a combination of aikijujutsu, karate and taido

I don't want to be clowned, but any chance including 3D Era Mortal Kombat games? there was an attempt to integrate real martial arts in MK Games back then, even though not as good as the other fighting games. I guess Asian-made fighting games are more accurate to real martial arts than fighting games made in USA. dunno... just a thought

What is it with you clowns? DOA literally has the best animation in 3D fighting games since 2. Even if you are biased towards some other fighting game it's indisputable that it has superb animation. Tekken used to be my favorite fighting game franchise but now if i was given the power I'd round the entire alleged fanbase up and blast it into the sun.
