"bored now" is a line that vamp willow often used in her 2 appearances. It was a great callback to show how our willow has really gone dark side.

She also used “falling now” in a less dark moment. She likes the phrase “___ now”.

The best stretch of final episodes of a Buffy season! Just so good. Willow is an evil badass and I love every second of it

Spike isn’t blaming the chip for his behavior. It does torture him because he can’t fully be a monster, while the lack of a soul prevents him from being a good man… which he wants to be, for Buffy.

I read that Joss had this "Evil Willow" arc planned for many years. If Seth Green hadn't left the show, then Willow and Oz would've still been together and Oz would have died instead. Tara was my favorite character on the show, I still miss her.

Willow wouldn't even have a good witch role model, like she had in Tara. Tara didn't have the raw power, like Willow had, but she respected magic a lot more than Willow did.

@@MsAliciaRL It's possible that a witch character would have been introduced as merely a friend to Willow, who would partner with her in magick practice.

I am pretty sure the producers didn't know Warren was going to be a main villain when they first introduced him last season he was just meant to be a plot device. But even in his first episode he was a giant POS so his character arc makes sense

Remember that, deep down, as shown in "Restless", Willow is still, or feels she is still, the insecure person who had no real voice, who was teased or ignored by her peers; ignored or studied by her mother; and whose only value, according to her, was the use she could be to others. She has never yet really walked away from that: even her drive to bring back Buffy was rooted in her inability to understand how to live life without that "buffer" near her. In a less supernatural show, I think there's only one way Willow could choose after vengeance is done and that would be to follow Tara.

The "death god thing" is, as Willow clearly calls him, Osiris, who was, indeed, one of the Egyptian gods of the dead and of judging the dead (among other things). The myth is that he was killed by his jealous brother, Set, who in addition, scattered his body. Osiris' wife, Isis, and her sister Nephthys (sp), gathered all the pieces during a search, and Isis mothered the child of herself and Osiris, Horus, one of whose destinies was to avenge his father. So there's a significant bit of appropriate reference in using Osiris, of all gods of the dead, to attend this scene.

Buffy was never really physically in a position to be completely assaulted by Spike. She is, even in an injured state, strong enough to kick him into the wall any day. The only reason it took her as long as it did for her to knock some sense into him was that she was trying to appeal to him with her words first. She had, despite her saying otherwise, grown to trust Spike quite a bit, and her trust had grown so much that she had come to a place where she no longer hit him. The last time she got violent with Spike was in "As you were". Just before her major emotional break through. After that she no longer felt the need to take out her self-hatred on Spike. She knows he's more like an Animal than a man. And her trust in him is misplaced. That realization alone has hurt her the most. To me it makes sense that she would be ok with seeing him. She's still working through things. But she understands enough to know that a wild animal will attack you, but doesn't blame the animal.

I like the way the show distinguishes between fantasy deaths and real deaths. We’ve seen plenty of people killed by demons, but these were symbolic 'fantasy' deaths, of characters we didn’t care about. When a main character we care about dies, it is not by magic but by realistic everyday causes, like Joyce. This season has been about Buffy facing real life, making a living, etc. The Trio up to now were comic relief, caricatures of nerds playing with power. The point of this storyline is that in real life nerds playing with things they shouldn't can do real damage. And Warren did it not with magic, which in the Buffyverse represents metaphorical power, but the way real kids kill each other in our society, with a gun. I'm so glad they made this distinction.

Interesting in your Intro Jen that the reaction to Spike, which is totally understandable, is never treated in the same way as Faith in S3 E15 Consequences in which she actually sexually assaulted an innocent Xander and tried to murder him too, because he resisted her. We know that by switching Networks they could show more graphic content, Faith of course had a soul and was consciously doing this as a human back in S3, maybe if that content from S3 was shown here in S6 it may be thought of differently, but then again it wouldn't because female on male sexual violence is never treated the same. This is no way excuses Spike, we are reminded that he is still a soulless creature with no remorse. Faith we know had problems, but why as a character do many fans have sympathy with Faith excusing her behaviour, we have to remember too she technically raped Riley in Buffy's body as well. Seeing Red is incredibly difficult to watch, and it is totally understandable we were all shocked by that scene, as was James Marsters himself who had to go into therapy after it as it deeply affected him.

As much as i love Once Upon a Time they had similar issues with women SA'ing male characters that are just never addressed as what they are. E.g. Regina and Graham, she literally rips his heart out and controls him. Or Zelena pretending to be Mariam and sleeping with Robin Hood just to mess with Regina and ending up pregnant with his kid. And of course Gothel in Season 7. Now i love Regina and Zelena but neither of them are ever heald accountable for this in the way they should be. Like i've seen the fandom tear Neil (rightfully so given the age difference even if they were both consenting there was still a massive age differencr) apart over his and Emma's relationship but completely ignore or outright dismiss what Regina and Zelena did. And again i love both characters but this always frustrated me.

I just noticed something...that's probably just me over-thinking thinsg way too much but...Season 5 episode 19 had something horrible happen to Tara and Willow went straight to the dark magic books to get revenge. Episode 19 of Season 6 comes around and once again something terrible happens to Tara and Willow instantly goes dark. And while she doesn't go to the books until this episode it's an interesting parrallel (is that correct word to use here) of episode 19 being a cursed episode number for Tara and Willow. Also i wonder if Willow controlling the car was an intentional callback to the episode where she takes Dawn to see Rack and she uses magic to drive the car while high on magic...or again i'm possibley over-thinking a small detail, but i like to believe it was an intentional set-up. Also in regards to it being too soon to see Spike, i agree. But it is also something that happens in real life unfortunately, talking from experience (i had to live with my abuser and be his friend, nobody knew what happened until 2022) in a high-stress situation some victims and survivors are put into situations where they have to be civil with their attacker. Fctor in everything that has happened since the bathroom, barely a day has passed and Buffy had no time to really process it herself before she had to go deal with Warren, then she got shot and flatlined, finds out Willow is back on the magic and out for blood, then she had to come home and deal with Dawn and Tara's body. I think Buffy would have told Dawn what happened had all this not been going on but as nob-sensical as it seems to allow her to go to Spike's where else could Dawn have gone, if they took her with them then she would have seen what Willow did to Warren which as much as Dawn (amd everybody) hated Warren we know that would have messed her up. I get thinking it was not the right thing to do taking Dawn to Spike's (and again agree) but with everything going on in this episode Buffy likely didn't want to put that on Dawn's shoulders as well, i mean the girl sat with Tara's body all day that's gotta be traumatic enough without finding out about what Spike did too.

After Seeing Red there is only one way the last three can go in the Season. It had been intimated all through this Season that even though Willow had sought help and was trying to curb her addiction, anything could set it off. Well her witnessing Tara's death is the catalyst for ultimate revenge and mayhem. It's now very much in the realm of Liam Neeson in Sam Raimi's brilliant film Darkman where relentless devastating revenge is sought on all who wronged him. Willow is now all powerful, and we feel will be unstoppable. Great scene in the bar when Warren tells them all he killed the slayer, and they tell him she is still alive. Little does he know it's not Buffy he has to fear. Once Rack has informed Warren that he can sense the power of the new Dark Force in the witch we know Warren will be doomed. Willow is now without any feeling or empathy, even when she draws the bullet from Buffy there is no emotion or feeling. Warren thinks he can fool Willow with Robot Warren, but when Buffy and Xander plea with Willow she says' I'm not coming back', she will get her retribution. A brilliant scene with Dawn too when she says to Buffy 'I'd do it myself if I could' as a young girl and human, she has has that emotion and hatred towards Warren, a natural reaction many would feel. Xander makes a good point here in that you don't have to be a Vampire or Demon to be pure evil, saying Warren is as bad as any human 'sent to Dustville'. We see Spike seeking a similar way to Angel in 'The Trial' episode from the Angel Show, where is he seeking restoration by completing ultimate dangerous tests, but the restoration of what? The final scene of Willow placing the bullet into Warren and sealing his lips is amazing. Still we feel hatred towards him as he is still showing no remorse, a truly detestable character worse than any Demon. As Buffy, Xander and Anya witness the skinning alive of Warren they are horrified. Willow says to them 'one down' there really are 'Two To Go'. A brilliant S6 episode.
