I keep a pack of cards in my pack as well. One difference is that I keep a pack of playing cards that have very clear, identifiable pictures and descriptions of useful and edible plants on them. Picked up two different packs of survival playing cards from Amazon... makes it a useful tool as well as a boredom killer.

Totally recommend that sleeping bag liner. Used one recently with a 2 season sleeping bag under a tarp shelter. Temps got down to 41F. I was very comfortable just wearing shorts.

I always recommend a silcock key to everyone. I keep one in my vehicle, and in all my bags.

Pictures are a legit item that I don't think I've seen anyone else ever talk about before, and I've seen my fair share of big out bag videos.

Thanks for the video! I had to laugh when you said that the viz pen was heavy right after the two smoke grenades. IMHO brightly-colored panels are a better choice than smoke grenades. I think the most likely scenario for use of smoke grenades are when you see or hear an aircraft (most likely helicopter). The problems that I see with this is if you are hiding or avoiding other people than you have basically pinpointed your position. Also, these devices can cause fires, if you pop smoke and suddenly have to run (see last sentence), will you possibly be starting a forest fire or will you be trying to carry a hot, smoky can that is leading your 'friends' directly to you! Unless you're in very hilly/mountainous country, the panels are less likely to be seen from the ground. On the other hand, if you're being chased or sought by known hostiles, then the smoke grenades may draw them into a ambush, but if your out-numbered (esp. alone) this can be quite risky! I carry a steno notebook in my BOB anyway so I can make playing cards or a chess game, etc. so for me a deck of cards is redundant. If I plan to use camp fire, then I carry a fire bellows, but I've found that with most camping stoves (love my Esbit) that it's unneeded. A multi-tool is a definite need though I carry one as part of my EDC, though a second one's not a bad idea! The best part of this video is pictures of your family, very smart, I'll have to borrow that, but I would suggest that you make sure that those pictures have you in them as well so no one else can claim them for themselves! Security is job #1! I think that you'll need room in your pack for a water bottle/bag whether it's full or not so the fact that it can be shrunk down in size is mute to me. I prefer the 2-quart military style water canteens with carrier because it allows me to hang them almost anywhere and makes adjusting weight (especially when moving) much easier! Thank you again!

Good stuff. In addition to MrDosonhai's washbag suggestion some cloths hanging pins, a partial bar of soap (saw the squeeze bottle not sure if that doubles as body wash), washcloth, small deodorant, epic wipes/dude wipes or whatever brand and leg cramp pills.

When I was deployed, I always had a deck of cards in my pocket. Great boredom killer.

I like the extreme reactor. I’ve used it over many years to boost my sleeping bags. I would say it adds a legit 15 degrees. So in my get home bag, I keep a snugpak jungle bag (has an internal bug net). The Jungle bag I tested it with a t-shirt and flannel pajama pants to 48 degrees. Anything less would be pushing it. And then in the winter months I add the extreme reactor to the pack.

Animals and humans need water, rivers and lakes are busy places. Limit the ammount of time you expend there because you are vulnerable (plus, you are distracted collecting water, filtering it, washing yourself.... ) I have a cheap amazon 10L collapsible water bag. After setting up camp, go get water and back asap. Purify/boil/filter it in your camp. Wash yourself and dirty clothing in your camp. Dump the excess water in the morning and roll the water bag flat. Or put it in your pack but not full, of course, that would be 10kg. Just the water you may need and push excess air out before closing the bag so it does not make noises. If you have the extra money, Savotta has a freestanding water bag that folds flat and makes life easyer due to a big access hole, but you cannot screw it to close it

I LOVE love LOVE your videos! NOBODY talks about paperwork and photos. The world, (and 80% of the USA) functions on proof and paperwork. Copy all your documents!!! home, insurance, car, drive license, health insurance. I saw a video from D. C. in OHIO about a Bug out BAG. The single defeat of all the bags is when you hit a military gate/ checkpoint and they say " WHO are you???" Prove it. 2-3 OZ of weight, but worth its weight in gold.

The Hydrapak and Smoke is definitely on my list of add-ons.

I found tonnes of uses for the bellows. Beware on the smoke. Threw one that was a couple years out of date. Holy hell, blew up.

Had those bellows gifted to me, and I was able to use them on a trip last weekend. Definitely worth the weight.

I used to do a lot of backpacking. I always carried an esbit stove or sterno with a canteen cup and katadyn filter. For entertainment I carried a book. In the military i was either bored as hell or taking a nap

Small suggestion. I would absolutely include a really compact and light mirror to use on the end of that expanding rod somehow. For looking around corners without poking your head out. Just a thought. I guess you would have to affix it somehow but well worth it the almost nil weight IMHO.

Mini playing cards. You can get them from party stores.

There is a Mg+ washbag. You put it in water for 15 minutes and you have base water to wash clothes and bathing. Can be reused up to 365 times. You can now be clean on the go.

Wow never thought of the pictures. Like the smoke grenades. I've thought of those and civilian concussion grenade for a BOB bag for a just in case.

Great video. Where i live in south africa majority of main water systems has some type of contaminent in there. Some of the products youve shown is either super expensive or not available here. We have alot informal settlements in and around cities. If something goes wrong police or emergency services doesnt come or come when its too late too help.

Smoke grenade is a bit ------? But I understand, 30 second of cover smoke may just call the rest to the party. Also, they get really hot and start fires. YOU are not part of a squad and resupply is busy, so gray might be better. Remember You have stuff they want in a OH SH-- time and there may be bad odds.

What are your thoughts on adding a pistol magazine to support my EDC 9mm pistol? My edc takes a 17 round magazine which can add weight unfortunately. My other thought was putting a 22lr pistol in it to lessen possible weight. The biggest factor is that I have my bag in my vehicle everyday and the ideas of the heat in my vehicle from the sun and the possibility of someone breaking into my car. OK, so what is the max carrying capacity of your rig????? Maxed out, I have a capacity of 10 liters. Most of the time I don't us that full 10 liters, it is usually 4 liters. 3 of plain water and 1 liter of electrolyte mix.

I would never make my hmg pack my bugout bag... My maxpedition is heavier but way more durable. I'm poor and don't want my hmg to get messed up

I have yet to see any channels talk about another addition to the go bag or get home bag. The inflatable girlfriend.....or if they are even a thing...boyfriend. What? Wait? That's genius. In a crisis, you can sell out your significant inflatable other. They are brainless and wont remind you 40 years down the road.

The Reactor liner sucks. There's a much better one at Walmart believe it or not.
