The Simeone Museum:
www.simeonemuseum.org/the-coll...
One of the coolest parts of the Simeone Museum was the winner circle. The 5 cars that Simeone had that had won huge races. One of which being this 1936 Bugatti 57G. Because the other two were destroyed, this is the only remaining. Pretty cool to say the least.

That car was restored in PA and I've personally seen the pictures of how they were tedious about not over-restoring it. I even know the guy that transported it and got to drive it at Lime Rock for a parade lap (probably the last time it was in it's element). It is a legend that will hopefully inspire future generations. Good deal Mr. Spaghetti

Nobody mentions the fact the Bugatti's body styling was extremely avant-garde, truly ground-breaking. If you look up images of the start of the 1937 Le Mans race, you would see parked beside the # 2 Bugatii that would win the race the # 3 Lagonda, which had won the 1935 Le Mans. The stark difference in their respective body styling is night and day. Now, while there was no 1936 Le Mans race, the aerodynamic Bugattis were built in 1936 for the French Grand Prix, Grand Prix de la Marne, and successful Class C 24-hour record-setting at Montlhery. Thus, the styling of the Bugatti Type 57G was vastly ahead of its time. Because it scythed through the wind much more easily, it completed at least 5 laps more than all its main competitors between pit stops. In a nut shell, the Bugatti could race continuously for 3 1/2 hours, compared to 3 hours for their best competitors. THIS really discouraged all the competition! The smaller capacity German Adler also came to Le Mans with aerodynamic coupe bodies, and won their class. Their styling was also ground-breaking. However, it was this 1937 Bugatti TYPE 57G Tank that set the trend for what would become the standard of all sports car body design, rather than the boxy, cycle-fender sports racers of the past. Lastly, Jean Bugatti's decision to paint his Le Mans racer in that two-tone blue with the extremely distinctive period Art Deco design, whereby the darker blue hue comes to a very pronounced point on the French curve seen on both sides of the car. Wow----so striking and unique! Little wonder the record 60,000 crowd of 1937 was so enchanted with its appearance, performance, and how the Bugatti thoroughly defeated everyone else, winning the race by 7 laps, or well over 50 miles! Furthermore, the winning-Bugatti covered 11 more laps than any other Le mans winner up to that time. A French car had not won this, their own great race, for 11 years. It was a very, very happy day for France. A strong argument could be made to display this magnificent car in Paris at the Louvre Museum. At least the French citizenry could appreciate one of their "priceless" works of automobile art. For one year---2 years??? Just a suggestion.

My aunts grandparents lived in Germany through WWII, and Nazis pillaged most of their property, including the Mercedes that they owned and Hitler used in a few of his parades. When I was stationed in Germany I got to experience a lot of history and lived in old SS barracks with the imperial eagle laid in marble and on the iron handrails labeled SS 1939.
