I always laugh when someone tries to call the other insecure while they’re obviously cheating. The irony is... cheaters cheat because they’re insecure and need the validation. Protecting your heart and health is common sense.

I feel so confused. If she entered into a new lease without him, how is the landlord able to keep the original security deposit that had his name on it. His name is not on the lease. He has no right to enter the home. It would seem to me the ex girlfriend should have had to come up with the full amount herself because of the revised lease. He’s being held financially responsible when he was released from the original contract.

When he signed the leased and put down half of the deposit, he is obligated to the lease as far as the deposit is concerned. If she leaves after her new lease is up, then he is able to get his half, but she and he gets the deposit check, since it was in both their names. If she does not trash the place.

Because he still has a consequence for breaching the original contract, but by his name being off of the lease and if she does $4,000 worth of damage, he would lose out on his $550 but he at least can't be sued for the additional damages since his name isn't on the lease. The landlord could have played hard ball and not removed his name at all and he could be sued for those damages as well. So he has to be contect with what he got cuz it could have went the other way.

That's what I was looking at. She seemed like she was up to no good at the time. She kept saying he was "insecure". Sometimes (not all) people give their partners reason to be insecure. Especially if they're keeping in contact with someone from their past that should remain in their past. What do you think your partner is going to think when that happens? That you and the ex are bowling partners? 🤣 I saw somewhere in this thread that they're back together. I hope there were some lessons learned in the interim and that they're settled and on the right track.

They both seem like nice people. He may well be the jealous type, but that is not clear. What is clear is that his girlfriend has no idea about setting boundaries. In order not to provide suspicions or other concerns for your partner, you have an obligation to clearly cut off ex-boyfriends/girlfriends. This loosey-goosey “we’re still friends” stuff is the source of unnecessary problems. When committing to a relationship part of the deal is making yourself exclusively available to your partner without question, unless there is a clear mutual agreement for an open relationship (although those are notoriously fraught with problems.)

If you need counseling with in the first year of DATING, you don't go and sign a 2nd lease with someone who has a lying problem 🥴 poor lil tink tink. Make sure you get your other half tho bruh!!! If it doesn't come from the landlord make sure it comes from her! Girl do the right thing to avoid court fees on top of the other half you owe him 😊

The judgement is a bit peculiar in this case. The logic is primarily sound. However if the defendant stays longer than the one year lease, then the landlord will hold security for the duration of of the defendant’s occupancy. Perhaps five or ten years? The plaintiff shouldn’t have to wait indefinitely for his money to be returned. It’s a painful reminder for both parties that will be better served severing their ties and moving on. She should offer to pay him back the judgement ASAP and be done with each other.

The judge is wrong about the deposit. If the plaintiff was released from the lease then the deposit will go back to the defendant. When one party leaves a lease, the security deposit stays with the unit. It doesn't get split. Well atleast that's the law in Ohio. 🤷🏾

Judge isn’t listening man. They both could have backed out of the lease he’s saying and she decided to move forward on her own. And since he’s been removed from the lease the landlord can amend the deposit.
