BUGIBBA MALTA - a walk around St Paul's Bay and the streets of Bugibba in Malta (San Pawl il Bahar)for a look at how life really is on the island of Malta.
Walk around Bugibba and St Paul's Bay in Malta from Bugibba Square around the streets of St Paul's Bay, a popular holiday destination of the island of Malta.
Bugibba is a village situated between Qawra and St Paul's Bay in Malta.
Bugibba Square is where we begin this walk around the streets of Malta, starting at the beach overlooking the sea before turning up into Bugibba Square and onto the streets of St Paul's Bay.
When visiting Malta on holiday you may find yourself faced with timeshare salespeople in Bugibba Square promising you free travel cards or other gifts if you head to a nearby Malta hotel for a meeting. This is simply timeshare holiday presentations so avoid.
Bugibba Square is quite expensive to eat and drink compared to the bars and restaurants around the nearby streets of St Paul's Bay or Qawra so be wary.
As we head up from Bugibba Square into the streets of St Paul's Bay we pass the bars and restaurants of the area. It's worth reading the reviews on Tripadvisor before heading into them as they'll give the best advice on which bars and restaurants are the best and worth visiting.
Malta as a holiday destination is fantastic. It's warm, safe, and full of historic sites and amazing architecture, particularly in places like Valetta which is incredible and well worth a visit.
Around Bugibba and St Paul's Bay it's a little more quiet and serene and quite peaceful, and you can get trips from the beach and bay out to other Malta tourist destinations. Definitely worth looking at for your holiday trip.
I visited Bugibba Malta in 2018 and spent a few days travelling around the island and taking in all the very best tourist and holiday spots there. I'm due to go again (and again) regularly as I loved it!
We end this Malta walk as we arrive at the Sheffield Wednesday Supporters Bar on San Xmun, Bugibba, a popular bar in Malta for Sheffield Wednesday fans who visit to grab a beer, meet fellow Owls fans and watch the football matches on the TV's there.

stayed here in 1989, two weeks of wall to wall sunshine, lots of building going on then,but has changed so much now. best two weeks ever, remember getting a taxi with a big hole in the floor, great times!!

Stayed in Bugibba, at The st Paul's Hotel, about 25 years ago. We had a great holiday here, hired a car for 3 days and went all over the Island, also took the car on the ferry to Gozo. The bus service was also great and used that to go to Valletta. Really liked Bugibba it was nice in the evening to walk around and stop in a bar for drink. Thanks for your walks, they are nice to watch, keep up the good work.

Discovered Malta with my now husband many years ago and love it. Usually stay in Qawra but always visit Buggiba. The whole island is amazing.

I absolutely LOVE Malta and Bugibba. In 2016 we stayed at an apartment opposite the jetty for the cruise boats like The Hornblower and The Glass Bottomed Cat. I went for a cruise in The Glass Bottomed Cat to Comino and Gozo. The apartment (located right next to the German restaurant) was owned by a wonderful man called Guido Gauci who has now sadly passed on. I went parasailing in St. Paul's Bay. That was scary as I had a VERY turbulent ride and the ride back to the shore in the speedboat was VERY fast and choppy! I did have trouble walking past The Angel Bar! Many a beer went down here! When I did get past the bar I discovered Bugibba Square and its great restaurants and cafes and I also discovered The National Aquarium and The National Motor Museum. Both well worth a visit. I used a bus to get to Valletta (only 2 Euros for a return 20 mile journey!) In 2017 we stayed at Qawra in a bit of a run down area opposite a Chinese Massage Parlour. This time I hired a car and saw much more of the island including Mdina, Marsaxlokk and Mosta and I also went on the Ferry to Gozo. But yes I love Malta, love Bugibba. I love the buildings too. The people are very friendly and I love the Italian Gelato's! Many of those were consumed in the up to 50 degree centigrade heat! I love this video too! I recognise many of the places and I recognise the lady in The Owls/Scotch Corner bar!

I lived in Buggiba for 6 weeks with my boyfriend in 1998. He had a flat there while he was working at the Malta Drydocks and I came over from the States to be with him. Our flat was on triq il-mazzola, and I walked everywhere. The Maltese buses were wonderful then, you could ride all over the island for a few lira. We frequented the Red Rum Pub for beers and a game of pool. I hung out my laundry on the rooftop and could see out over St. Paul's Bay, it was beautiful. It was Sprintime, March-April, but it did get cold. I loved my time in Buggiba, Malta and cried when I had to leave.

Spent several weeks in Bugibba during the winter 6 years ago.... Used to drink Cisk beer and sing karaoke in the Scotch Corner Pub you show at the end of the video. I even recognized the Pub owner Christine that walks behind the bar as you enter! What fun to stumble upon this video!

First time in oct 2019 recommended by inlaws loved every bit of it . Stayed in the conifer Hotel. I recommend mosta dome for a trip out.

Had a lovely time staying in Bugibba in May 2019. We were booked to return and then the travel restrictions kicked in, but we will be back. Malta is fantastic and everyone was so friendly.

Loved seeing you in the mirror at that Bar !! I went to Malta around .... er ... can't really remember, must have been 1995 ish (???) stayed in St Paul's Bay, really small town, with water inlet and tiny boats bobbing on the water ... I went to a small cinema one evening (tucked down some back street) and saw Evita (in English but with subtitles), then towards the end of my stay I walked along this long road and came to a very busy much larger town, which might have been Bugibba, but not sure. I saw a man standing in the doorway of a Barbers and since my hair was getting rather unruly I asked if he would cut it - he looked kind of amused (me being a woman😀) and eventually said yes !! It was the cheapest haircut I have ever had, two euros, but at that time with the exchange rate it was just £1.75 !! Bargain 🤣 I also took a boat out to Valetta for an afternoon trip, went into a church and every wall was covered in the most amazing religous drawings - fantastic. Would have loved to stay longer ... maybe one day I shall return 🤔 Thanks for the trip, Mr Walk, keep em coming 💯✔👍

Lovely place have been to buggiba , years ago and St. Paul’s bay ,went round the bay by bus.it was very hot,I burned my feet walking across the beach to supermarket.nice to see ,but I don’t remember the back streets.

The best thing about the residential area is, it is conveniently located within walking distance, about 1 minute from the square. Everything that makes for a perfect day or night.. entertainment, bars, clubs then get to walk away, within one minute you are in a peaceful area, recuperating to do it all again the next day.. boat trips are right there, diving schools, something for everyone! Perfect

I was born in Malta. Grew up in Toronto, Ontario. Now living in Calgary, Alberta. I visited Malta in 1978 and again in 1987. I do not remember much, however I see a lot has changed.

Been to Malta many times My local drinking hole was Munchies in bugibba Natilie and David Ryan Chris charlie the best hosts in Malta and lovely People due to. Covid can't get over was talking my Granddaughter I 💕 Malta be SAFE x 💕 from Glasgow

We stayed in Bugibba in 1993 and 2006. In 2006 we were always being harassed by time share sellers. That put a dampener on the whole thing as they were everywhere. Many changes from ‘93-‘06. Some places I didn’t recognise

Have been to Malta Stayed in Valletta and loved it Now stay at Bugibba for a month in winter have fallen in love with the country wanted to move here in 2018 but unfortunately i was diaognosied with stage 4 Cancer have survived that and want to come back this April 2021 if God is willing we will bw back

Honestly never been to a holiday resort that looks so run down,in saying that still like the place lol,been 4 or 5 times always in November with the lads for the darts and once with the Mrs who I thought would not like it but she loved it a visit to Valletta and Mdina is a must back for the darts this November can't wait.

It looks a bit run down, but also looks real. Sometimes I prefer these sort of places over perfectly manicured locations as they can feel a bit fake,. I'd give it a go, maybe May / June time so it has some life, but before the summer crowds descend.

My partner and i were going to live in Bugibba in 2019 But i was diagn osed with stage 3-4 bowel cancer that then masticated to my lung Hense we didn't move here but i love Malta It is now 2022 i am now waiting for my results of my last scan We haven't been back to Malta as the insurance for me is so high But who knows is in 4 years when i am 76 i will be fit enough to be able to return to the place we both love so much

well nice to see that part of BUGIBBA We were staying at Malia Bay we were waiting for a bus to take us to BUGIBBA when a car pulled up and asked us were we were going and said he would take us there ,he did to a time share sales place we quickly escaped but we were hounded as we walked along by people trying to sell you things or trying to get you into there bars etc did not like that at all and on a second visit to meet a friend from work who was staying there we went to Valletta for a day out and when we got back to the car it had been broken into and we lost things including my wife's handbag containing cash locked in the boot so not a good holiday experience

I was in Sliema 20 years ago and wonder if the island has changed? I'm now looking for a place for retirement. It must have all the facilities yet no loud noise keeping me awake at night, if you could advise?

It's definitely worth visiting - an incredible country! 1) Definitely use the buses which are great, or hire a car to get around Malta - everything is within just a 30 minute drive! 2) Visit Valletta, Popeye Village, Mdina, The Blue Cove, and get the ferry to the island of Gozo 3) Try all the local food including the national dish of Rabbit Stew Can't recommend Malta enough. The island is stunning!

Malta is having a few issues at the moment but so long as you are sensible you will be fine. Just remember to stay away from crowds and use a mask when you have to 👍

I no nothing about recent history of Malta , but I would like to . So I am presumeing that all the new construction I see in Malta is because of the destruction during WW 2 . When I see Mdina and the rest of the island there is s big difference .. So , would someone please tell me if I am correct , if not why ? DML .

First came to Malta in 1977. Been many times and recently lived here for 3 years. The place is now horrible. Dirty, overcrowded, to much traffic and fumes, very expensive to buy - rent property, in fact prices are criminal and lots of undesirable people. Did I mention the very corrupt government? Won’t ever visit again. Shame it’s got to this!

Not the real malta. That was in the middle of covid when there were no tourists. Bugibba is not a village anymore. You don't show the amount of construction, dust, cranes and rubbish or the real backstreets or even Tourists St. The square is an half decent area now taken over by take away delivery moped riders most of the time. In 2019 pre-covid it was a shithole. Most of st paul's bay is old and in deperate need of repair. Roads , pavements, the lot. So that's not the real malta.
