Beautiful! This is my favorite song from "Miss Saigon." Every time I hear it, I get tears in my eyes. I was adopted from Vietnam in 1974, and this song so deeply speaks to me.

Josh. . .this is a year later. . .and I found the song and your comment. I am here sniffling from the song. . .i am the grandmother of a child from China. . . One of their “Forgotten Daughters” not as frequent as 20 years ago. . .nor in your case Almost a half century ago. When I question the wisdom of removing children from their environment. . .their culture. . .the surrounding of familiar looking faces. . .i just listen to this song, Then cry, then realize that humanity has a responsibility to not only these children but all children abandoned for any reason. None of them asked to be born, but they were, and they’re entitled to nutrients for the body, but for the soul as well.

@@patriciabajcer8930 thank you for sharing your thoughts. I don't know about your granddaughter, but I'm happy I was adopted because who knows what life I would have had or if I would even be alive today. I consider myself lucky, and I am so loved by my parents and siblings.

@@joshknoll5172 Maybe you can tell that Sarah is a difficult teen who is coming up to her 18th birthday and (thanks to the Pandemic) has dropped out of school, borrowed my car for a week (a year ago) and hasn’t returned it, and moved in with her boyfriend, and absolutely refuses to answer my calls or texts. She is absolutely unknowing and uncaring that the people she is antagonizing are the people who love her and care the most about. And she has screamed at us that she wished my daughter and son in law had never taken her from her parents. . .ignoring that she was abandoned by her mother at a police station. I think it’s angsty behavior from an older teen trying to become ‘independent’ too early d/t restrictions placed her by her parents and I. . .and manipulating us using her birth circumstances. My daughter and former step son were the only teens with whom I had contact and, while neither was perfect, this is a whole new level of crazy for me. 😳😳🥴🥴

@@patriciabajcer8930 unless your granddaughter is a sociopath, it's unlikely she "doesn't care" about the people who love her. She's testing boundaries which is exactly what teens are supposed to do - and it means she feels safe enough to do so, so kudos to you and her other caretakers for providing an environment like that! I don't know the circumstances, but adopted children can have horrible abandonment issues - and even worse if there was actual abandonment (which it sounds like there was). That deep attachment wound can often come out as rage. Adolescence is all about exploring one's identity, and it might be coming to a head around her adoption/place of origin. Listen to her and validate that she's voicing a desire to reconnect with her origins and that this is completely normal and healthy for her to want to do. And if this feels like a lot, getting an independent third party - whether a school counselor or a therapist involved (especially one who is AAPI) can help. I wish you and your family the very best in finding resolution with all this, particularly Sarah, who I wish the utmost compassion and peace. 💖💖💖

@@skallywalla502 Loved your comment-during Nursing school-I was-during my psych unit-invited by the Head Nurse of the Psych Unit where we were training-to become a Psychiatric Aide and did this on weekends or part time in the evenings for 18 months after which I graduated. And yes-at the time I wrote this I was being pushed by to the end of my last nerve. However, when I graduated, I became an ICU nurse and we had a huge research hospital near me and went to work in Cardiac Transplant Unit. But had I known 5hat Sarah would enter my life. . .i would have stayed in the Psych Unit and learned more about Adolescents in Psych Units. Another thing is that personality is not only a fluid thing but it is a combination of Environment and Genetics so while my daughter and I know her Environment. . .her genetics are a mystery. My daughter was never a problem to me in her teens-she was like a mini-me and I could trust her with more freedoms than my step son could handle without having a mysterious visit at 1am from the police. . .with Stevie and one of his friends in tow. 😆😆😆. G’Daughter was a fired up baby (at 11months of age)even on the plane returning from China but the agency had conducted workshops on line about separation anxiety and abandonment issues which was helpful to their group. And she was in therapy from age 13 and still relies on the therapist for help when things get tense for her. I love the heck out of her but definitely feel that my daughter has the true handle on her daughter.

Steffan, you are one of the most important and necessary producers of the current age. You have saved the sanity of so many people, including me. I wish I had money to promote the Welsh of West End. I live in Australia and so deeply appreciate what you have done. This is changing people’s lives. You are making such a difference. Such a change. Ps: As a gay man if Tom Hier takes his shirt off, all the more followers. But do not under estimate how you have created realities. You have changed lives. God bless you.

Gentlemen, I LOVE going to the theater. However, I love (more) not having to worry about keeping an eye on the audience to see who is sneezing or coughing in my direction or who will bump into me when entering or exiting the restroom at intermission. So, sadly, it will be a long, long time before I enter a theater again, even after the restrictions are lifted. Your outstanding video made me appreciate all the more, the importance of music and how it can enrich the human spirit. Thank you for being a bright spot in what is an otherwise gloomy time.

I don't know why this was in my recommended today but I'm glad it was. The other day I met a Vietnam veteran at work(Im a vet tech) he kept apologizing that I had to keep repeating what I was saying and he couldn't hear me or the vet talk to him. He made a passing comment they say its not artillery related Im just getting old. Then he said everything else though is Im messed up bad. It broke my heart and I didn't even know what to say to that. He recently had to put down his old lab and he was in with 2 brand new lab puppies and watching them play in the exam room I could tell brought him some comfort. I cant imagine what he saw and witnessed over there when he was most likely younger than I am now(I'm 22) he was probably just an 18 year old kid but he is still struggling from the war😭💔

8 months later and I still return to this song ( to the whole Welsh of the West End songs really) and they just touch my soul. I can't describe it in a different way. Some songs in combination with some voices just create this magic and they become a catalyst for emotions. This is one of those songs. Admittingly, I am very partial to Luke's voice, but in this piece each and every one of you is beyond amazing!
