Thanks, had all those issues, replaced the module and now everything is working again. The Back seat is THE BIGGEST PAIN TO REMOVE. Push and push those clips down and pull seat straight out. Would have been easy to remove from truck but no GM had to put 2 plastic clips in back of seat. Total BS. Glad it worked so cheers to you!!!

Eric! Bought the uScope using your link! Thanks for linking the basic one. I thought there was only the, "Master" kit. I got the mini bnc to bnc adapter so I can use my Pico leads. In regards to the module, occasionally I see things just randomly die from having the battery disconnected and reconnect. Either that or the shop shorted the alternator, and then disconnected the battery once they realized that's what they should of done (shrugs). Thanks again for all your videos. They've changed my life, and 4 years later I've quit my job and work on cars full time successfully.

Other shop had no class, it doesn't matter if they had anything to do with the failure or not. Never tell a customer to pound sand! However I heard the old phrase "ever sense you worked on my car" more times than I can count. Some how some customers think just because you work on their car everything that goes wrong from there on is your fault. In 45 years I never told one to go pound sand. I did throw one or two out of my shop after they threatened to beat me up!

love your channel and learn alot. half the episode must be about teaching how to use certain techniques to troubleshoot with scanners and wire diagrams. if that's the case, thats great, it is very informative. i'm saying that because before you go into all of those steps, isnt it faster just to look under the seat at the harness and if thats not your problem then move on? Love the smell of brake wash or brake cleaner too haha. i used to use carb cleaner, but brake cleaner comes with so much more force. its great when i'm not around my parts washer.

Electrical shenanigans = evil shenanigans. Mrs O got a nice burn in on you whilst you were in the boot (trunk). "You're taking up all the room". Mrs O got you my thumbs up for this vid.

Going the Occam's razor route, when the battery was reconnected, there was a surge in power which caused the module to fry.

Looks like the uscope is gonna be on Santa's list. Great video as always 👍

So thats a pricey little module (rim) to replace.$150. Junkyard bound i say. Anybody else pick up on Eric o's reference to super trooper. (Meow,enhance,enchance).for the cost of that module, i would test 2 ensure it was bad also..thanks eric o..u are the man...

I've had my uscope for two years and I love it. Mine did not come with the attenuator however.

For us DIY'ers: The Class 2 Serial Data network on a GM uses a zero to Seven Volt signal; the voltage rests at Zero volts when there is NO communication; the transmitted data is a variable pulse width signal; Class 2 is found at Pin # 2 of the DLC, and is a single-wire network system; and GM uses what is referred to as a “splice-pack” to connect modules and the DLC to each other for network communication. Great video Eric, that little U scope is getting around!

Hello Sir! First off I wanted to say I really enjoy your video posts and have used them a lot as I try and do most work for my vehicles! Sure wish you were down this way I would gladly give you my business! That being said I wanted to ask for your advice and really didn’t know how other than just post my question on your latest post! Ihave an issue that has been haunting me on my 2002 2500hd lb7 duramax. The truck for the past month will not go into gear for the most part the indicator light will flash but it’s in a neutral like state. If it does go into gear it will usually shift hard and be in 3rd gear limp. No SES lights on the dash other than a air intake heater voltage low code. I did get a trans code from it once and that was p0700 and trans fluid switch c low voltage code. After doing some reading I changed the NSBU switch with a merchant auto and also the fluid and internal and external filters. No change also cleaned the grey trans plug on passenger side and it did have some fluid inside it. Still no change. I hooked up my hp tuners software just to look at the scanner and I noticed the TCM voltage when you start it will be at 14.3 and slowly trickles down to 8v or less. When it’s about 11 the Trans seems to shift fine into gear and will move without limp mode but below that it has the neutral like issue! I have also changed the ignition switch to rule that out as the indicator went blank yesterday and that fixed the issue but still have the trans shift problem. I checked voltage at the tcm on the orange wire and it reads 14.3 and the grounds seem to be ok at the tcm. Also cleaned ground under drovers door and driver side engine to see if that would help! I am lost st this pinpoint other than changing the tcm I don’t all I know to do. Just wanted to get your opinion on how I could maybe isolate the issue. Thanks for all the shared info it is appreciated!!!

I have to say, I love your troubleshooting techniques. Too many mechanics these days solely rely on a computer to tell them where the problem is without understanding root cause. Kudos to you. Wish I had more time to tinker and troubleshoot cars as that is my passion. What OTC tool are you using?

Well, poop! I looked at that little uscope more than a year ago and wrote it off as a toy. Now, Keith has one, Keith Perkins has one, Joe’s Auto Electric has one and you’ve got one. “I coulda been a contender!” Now I’ve got to get one and be a follower instead of a leader.

Now that's a cute little scope :-D. A bit of a mind twister there, module madness. Nice hydrogen gas just waiting for a spark, hindenburg :-(. I had to laugh about the probes being determined to fall out, i've had days like that lol. Gravity is an annoying frend :)

I do really like the OTC Encore.... That is the tool we have at work..... I bought Auto Enginuity myself but that is a great scan tool.

Seeing that battery under the back seat brought back bad memories of my 02 Oldsmobile Aurora 4.0. The car was nice till it hit a 140,000 then trans, Parasitic drain on the batt and then the classic head bolt failure.
