This is a bygone era. Those were smooth riding, comfortable safe family vehicles. The LT1 version of the Roadmaster could be used to haul your family around, take a vacation, go to work, go shopping, pull a boat to the lake and even outrun a Mustang GT 0-60.

@Burleon I just think the late B body wagons (91-96) look better without the wood. However, the 70s and 80s Buick Estates look awesome with the wood. Those older wagons also have much better looking proportions overall imo, so that might explain things.

Love the backstory they didn't narrate, but told beautifully through images and music. A 30-something real estate agent (likely a WWII veteran) starts his company, Reliable Real Estate, selling homes to fellow veterans, impressing these "many discriminating people" with his '53 Roadmaster, then fast forward 40 years, he's now in his 70's, Reliable is still in business through years of hard work, but he is still nostalgic for that '53 he wishes he never sold... now at the height of success, he's enjoying his kids, grandkids, and dogs with the family's two new "FULL SIZE, REAR WHEEL DRIVE" Roadmasters.

I’ve got a 96 Roadmaster wagon and it’s a damn machine. So underrated as a car. I’m also not believing the 260hp rating on the LT1 but we threw some Impala SS and 1LE Camaro parts on it and its even better. From our experience it’s very polarizing, women hate it but guys are into it. They understand the muscle wagon I guess.

I have a Buick 1992 Roadmaster Estate Wagon like the one shown in this video and it sure lives to it's name. While having nearly 300k miles on it I still can make up to 600 miles on a tank of fuel rather than the 550 miles as stated in this video. Oh how so many people try to buy this lovely car from me. The car rides smother than a Cadillac as well. Just love this car. Thanks for sharing this video. :D

The Roadmaster Estate Wagon of the 90s was the most luxurious ever offered in a regular production wagon. It offered genuine leather seating surfaces. The last wagons before the Roadmaster Estate to offer leather seating surfaces in the full sized segment was the luxury group equipped Ford LTD Country Squire LX and the Mercury Colony Park LS wagons from 1991 on down.

I've got a 93 Roadmaster Limited sedan I bought last year with 77,000 original miles for $1700. The interior is a 9.5/10 and looks like a 2-3 year old car. Every single little switch, light, and gadget works. The exterior looks awesome from a distance but the clear coat is peeling in some spots now. I can see why people loved these cars and in the year I've owned it I have gotten more comments on it than any sports car I've owned...although it's always from older guys on their 50s and 60s who either try to buy it from me or tell me about how they had one and still regret selling or trading 20+ years later. I recently took mine on our family vacation and got mid 20s mpg, floating along the highway on a leather couch at 85mph while barely even pressing the gas. I'm glad there's videos like this on KZfaq so I can see how they were marketed backed when new.

My 1992 Roadmaster was built in June of 1991 at the beginning of the 1992 model run. Almost 22 years and still going strong. It still is a great automobile. It is interesting when you need a part for it. If it is a body part then it is a 92 but if you need electrical parts then it is a 91 wagon. GM told me this due to my getting the wrong electrical part (ac control panel) constantly and finally calling them for help. That was also when I learned it was built at the start of the new year run.

Don Vegan that is still a good buy if it runs and drives good...You cant find em anymore so any price around $1000-2000 seems fair considering rarity. The only NICE ones left are the 94-96 roadmaster-caprice that people are selling for $10k or better. I will stick with my cheapy wagon. I still have mine at my work warehouse in chatt tn I need to go get it and bring it home this weekend. Got a terrible exhaust leak at the manifold I need to fix

Mine had a split in the exhaust almost a foot long..I decided to just cut the cat off and added a glasspack and enough pipe to make it to the rear axle and turned it downward..when I can afford it I will take it to a shop and get it right,,sounds good for a single exhaust..oh and if you have to remove any exhaust bolts from the heads they will come out easy if you get the motor hot first..but you sound like you already know that..hey might as well put some headers on at this point..take care and thanks for the reply

Nowhere near the best looking wagon. The 1955 Special Estate and 1971 Estate wagons were so much better looking. I applaud Buick for taking a plunge and building what was already a niche vehicle by 1991, but they could have made this car look so much better than the ugly upside down bathtub it really is. By the way, I love station wagons.

I had a '95 version. I was looking for something more powerful than my '91 Town Car. Always loved full-size, V8-powered, RWD, bench-seated 'murrcan barges (been driving those cars since I was in my 20s) and the 5.7 L powertrain appealed to me. It did indeed get 25 mpg (and even a little bit more) when you stayed around 75-80 on the highway. The LT1 was powerful, sounded great and gave no trouble. In a confusing twist, while handling was better than you'd expect from a barge like that, it did not smooth out road imperfections very well and harshness and vibration came through to a degree that made the ride disappointing. The interior was a dreadful mess of rattly, flimsy plastics, rear seat legroom was laughable for a car of that size and overall fit & finish...oh well. I guess I was spoiled by that Town Car, which was super-smooth, super-quiet and still completely rattle-free even though I ran it well past 150,0000 miles. Unfortunately it was also rather underpowered which made me want for the sort of power the GM full-size cars offered. Too bad I couldn't get the Town Car ride and build quality with a GM Small Block powertrain.

Funny how the wagon didn’t look anything like the sedan. The sedan was very distinct from the caprice version but the wagon was basically a caprice with a different grille. I had a 96 Caprice with an LT1 in the day, great car overall, smooth ride. The weak links were the cheap interiors that looked cheap and produced lots of squeaks and rattles. That and the LT1 liked to eat water pumps.

Who's that? With a name like that, I'd expect his filmography to include shows like Dallas and Charlie's Angels.

It was a motor, but now that you mention it, Vacuum would have been way cooler. It was cool, as you didnt have to slam the trunk like a jackanape in order for it to latch. Good for the elderly, you just set the trunk down and a tiny click and all done. Course they broke, so more than one of these were spotted with half open trunks.
