Great tip, as always! I’ve always used multiple images to achieve this, and getting the image with the exact size and colour for every project can be time consuming. This is definitely super efficient especially for mockups to present different options to end user before actually building the full report.

This is a great tip, much cleaner than the way I used to create toggle buttons using 2 overlapping button images! Will definitely be implementing this in to future reports. Great video as usual Bas

I just built my very first power BI dashboard and I must say it was a very steep learning curve yet extremely satisfying once you get it. The basics are ok, but once you want to go fancy, like using bookmarks with trigger buttons, fancy tool tips that points to pages, or pop up windows and hidden slices, then the fun really begins. I dont know what I was doing with excel for all these years when Power BI had been installed on my laptop all these times lol. Still learning and will definitely give this trick a try.

Why can't I resize ? I selected the font size exactly as you did but it doesn't resize in anyway

Because the Borders are active by default. You need to switch borders off to resize the dot

This is a great tip - I will be using nav groups in the future, a tip for you... save yourself alot of formatting fiddaling, select Pill shape and 0 px boarder padding

good vid. if you're having issues with the unicode size and font try "ctrl" clicking on the toggle to trigger changes. you may also need to set the states to different states and ctrl click to trigger. glitchy pbi

After pasting the circle in place of Toggle ON, the size of the circle is not increasing. Kept the state as "Default" but no change in size.

Great idea, Bas. I am always amazed at how you make these all tricks with visuals. Your videos are very inspiring. I did the toggle button as you showed in this video, but somehow I can't read off some very thin border around the border. The border color is the background color I chose for the button.

Something to be aware of is that not all Unicode characters are supported on Mac. So if you have users that will consume reports on a Mac then make sure you select a Unicode character supported on both Windows and Mac.

I liked the idea Bas , but I have used two images for on and off toggle that i created on powerpoint. Images seems to be much easier way. Your way is also awesome. Thanks for this video 😃👍

Hi Bas, as you may have noticed from multiple comments, the toggle text is not resizing and actually not even switching between 2 states. Maybe you can help us troubleshoot this issue. Thanks.

Maybe I solve it randomly. In the visual where you can apply settings to states if you change it to forexample selected from default and you start to resize there than go back to the default you can change the size normally It looks like a bug, but after changing the states it works perfectly fine for me I hope this help

For anyone having resizing issues, try clicking the button and selecting an unselecting. This got my sizing to take.

For bad luck desktop version have problem in changing size format of unicode... Well your way cant succeed if you have deselected data option in bookmarks....

I saw the title and started building overlapping circles on a pill, then watched the much-better solution. Thanks. Keep up the great tips and techniques. How did you get the click sound effect ? LOL. Of course, you can make the main visual a high-level line, and the second visual a detailed report.

You could also just find or create blank button import a custom icon that you just download from a icon library, and then just use the "icon" option switch between two costom icons with selected and deffault state, abit easier.

Like on OFF its 600 width and on ON it's 300 width ? The idea behind is to show 1 graph rougly full size of the page, and on toggle ON it's show 3 graphs so all 3 get smaller to fit on the page ?

built-in limitations of PBI text padding make it impossible to get this down to the required size. However with character U+26AB, I can manage it (but this cannot change colour unfortunately). Thanks for another amazing vid!

nice work arounds. It will be very nice when ALL attributes of visuals are f(x). so toggling is simply binding to variable and changing the actual visual settings. 1 visual with code to change any setting. I miss being able to set even the visualization type by code. The more copies of things that needed, the more maintenance needed going forward. In the meantime, we are here and as always, very informative. Would not have thought to use unicode here. thx
