We spoke briefly at Udvar-Hazy today - thanks for bringing your plane to the event. While I wasn’t looking for you specifically I wanted to learn more about the Velocity and this gave a nice overview of the build.

Very little assistance from the factory staff. Susan & I completed the kit. 12 hours daily, every day for six weeks.

Very Sweet Aircraft. I am taking my time restoring a 1961 Forney F-1A Aircoupe. It is a beauty but I look forward to something more challenging next. I have looked at Velocity. Fast and sweet four place sounds nice.

Thanks for posting this evidence (and reward) of your hard work! You obviously worked a LOT on this, but it also took a village when you needed help. I wish the photographer had shut off his diesel truck so we could better hear the sweet sound of that power plant pushing you into the sky on that first flight.

Great use of photos to assist the viewer to understand the steps and order of how something like this goes together. Curios - what is the lifespan of the airframe & wiring ?

That quick build Velocity must be a lot easier to build than what I went through. I took me 27 years to finish my Glasair 3. Working alone. One thing I did find out is most of the 3's I saw at fly-ins were built in pro shops. So I was misled. I should have figured it out when I'd ask the owner about some part I was building and I'd get the same look from all of them. Speechless, like the deer in the headlights. They had no clue. But all put themselves down as the builder. They probably were in stark terror of being outed as fakes.

Do they send you the fiber glass body? Fuel tank construction was a surprise to me.

Well l guess alot has changed since Lancair 320, 51% rule ha! How many extra workers? Working every day all day helps.

Was that a complete "fast build" kit, or just the fusilage was fast build? That looked a lot harder than building an aluminum plane.

OK, I've seen it so many times and told so many aircraft owners: Assembling a quick-build kit is not "building an airplane" Even if there's still a lot of work involved in assembling a quick-build kit there is still so much work you didn't do and which you'll never experience doing. I built one airplane from plans. Used prefab spars quite a lot of prefab metal parts in the control mechanisms and regret not doing those myself.
