There's a lot of bad advice out there when it comes to building back width vs thickness. Sometimes it's hard to know what's true and what's not true when it comes to back exercises. Should you be doing pulldowns for width in the lats, and rows for more thickness in the back?? What if I told you that most people have it all wrong? In this video we'll cover proper technique for building a better back to get both width and thickness (detail) as well as go over some of the most common myths and mistakes, as well as proper technique for building a bigger and better back, whether you're a beginner, intermediate, or even advanced lifter.

I hope viewer are truly watching the effect in resistance bands. James couldn't start over, he already has a great physique. Junior is already shredding up. Yes! He has one of the ultimate tutors, but knowledge is useless without application. Resistance bands, Garage and discipline... I'll see you guys on top of My. Olympus. Great video gentlemen.

Great video James. I really had a tough time with back exercises when I started lifting in 2020. It took me about 6 months to really feel like I was doing the motions properly and engaging the correct muscles, for back and chest exercises both (besides like chest flys those are pretty straight forward). Biggest tip I think for back exercises: think about pulling with your elbows!!! Don't pull the bar or dumbbell to you with your hands; ignore your hands, think about pulling with your elbows. You mentioned it but it's definitely the top tip for back IMO.

What I also really like besides the mind to muscle connection. Is the father to son connect. It’s humbling, sobering and reminds me of my father son connect. I grew from that connect in ways my fatherless young buds didn’t…. Kudos to you dad…I’ll subscribe to your channel…just because…

Hey Mike. Thank you my friend. Truth be told, my motivation for doing this content with my son is more for myself than it is for anyone watching It's an awesome opportunity for the two of us to spend quality time together, have some common ground and ultimately strengthen our bond. If we can share some good content in the process then that's just a bonus!

Long time ago, when I was in the age of your son, a powerlifter rat tell me on pulling exercise to take the thumb out of the grip for help the mind to link the traction in the back and not in the biceps too, it helps me a lot. Ah and he tells me also to do not the same with pressing movement unless i will want a wrist injurie XD. Congratulation to your son, from the first video he seem "more builded" 😄 keep going💪

Hi James, I'm 37 years old and also a beginner. I read in the comments of the previous videos about your plans to make a beginner program. will your new basic beginner program also be for beginners at 37 years old or only for beginners who are young like your son or around 20 years old? Is there a differnce? I believe in what you say and therefore how can i get or purchase a basic long term bodybuilding beginner program designed by you?

Hi my friend. The techniques, exercise selection and resistance levels would suit anyone from his age on up. It's also the same way that I would retrain an "intermediate" or "advanced" lifter that uses improper technique

I love the shared knowledge. I have to say that it is amazing how a resistance band that costs maybe 30-50 bucks can emulate an entire cable machine that may cost over 1 thousand dollars.

Talk about workout duration, many people say workout session should not exceed more than 45mins, 60mins etc. I do workout for 1& half hours to 2 hours because most of my sets are failure sets (PPL split) also intense, so that I used to rest more. Also I gained 12 kg (around 85% lean muscle mass) of weight in 6 months. But gym trainers tells me to complete by 45 mins to maximize results. Is that true?. Do I need to take a look on this?.
