And people wonder why the tiny house movement has taken off... and I mean the REAL tiny house movement, not the fake trend-jumping crap you STILL need a big mortgage for, like on tv - that completely misses the whole point! This also shows why people just want to buy a tract way up in the mountains and say "just leave me the hell alone!".

Hi Peter. Sure...as long as it meets the local zoning ordinances. Check with the local zoning/building department to see what restrictions they have...if any. One of the benefits of building on rural land is there are typically fewer restrictions.

Armchair Builder one last question, what If you decide to build a 2/5 acres of artificial lake, will the water ruin the land?

Not at all. Just make sure the house is placed as to not allow ground water to migrate to the basement (if there is one).

A would love to build a house but all of the builders out there charge over 250% for a small garage and they call it a house.
