How to ensure prosperity and avoid annihilation in the era of AI?
First Principle perspective: AI Alignment
Zeroth Principle perspective: Human Alignment
Dare we challenge ourselves to Align; rapidly improving dispute resolution, cooperation, and harmony. We've built a society run on addiction. Making us individually and collectively less.
This is the second of several meetings I will hold with the wider Blueprint community as a baby step toward Human Alignment.
🧪 WHAT IS BLUEPRINT
I’ve invested millions of dollars building the world’s leading anti-aging protocol, becoming the most measured human in history. Blueprint is an algorithm, built by science, that takes better care of me than I can myself.
And it’s available to you for free. Check out the Blueprint website for recipes, exercise, and other protocols. Become the next evolution of human.

Judd, as a 67 year old woman, for me it's not about longevity (lifespan), it's about health span. The choices you make in the first 2/3 of your life greatly impact what your life will be like for the last 1/3. I really respect what Bryan is doing. It's a fascinating approach and I wish him all the luck in the world.

That’s a good distinction. Love the terminology. Obviously part of “the wager” is that we may not know how to quantify the duration of our lives, especially if, as we see in other areas, the data plus AI takes longevity in totally unexpected directions. It’s easy to buy in when “health” or “wellness” align with longevity (those seem susceptible to highly subjective measurements as well) because we receive the immediate benefit of feeling good. But, what I’m stuck on is: what if they depart? Blueprint’s reliance on data in lieu of human consciousness will almost certainty find (if, say, it uses AI to understand the thousands of measurements - I am assuming this is the long term goal) extreme and unexpected paths to longevity. These could easily be ones which makes us very uncomfortable insofar as they won’t look anything like conventionally healthy. The example I gave is: what if we learn that having ears is more harmful than good when it comes to longevity? Obviously this is just a random example. Other could include isolation from immediate family, enduring extreme starvation, experiencing the brink of death at some point in life, etc. (I’m just spitballing here.) What limiting principles can be placed on the value of longevity when it departs from values that it conveniently aligns with? This seems like a question worth answering to me.

@@judnichols Hi Jud, Thanks for your thoughtful answer. If I understand your question, you are asking what the opportunity cost is for adopting the Blueprint Lifestyle? The truth is we may not know for decades, if ever. Science is perfectly imperfect. Bryan and team are doing their best to adhere to the data, but data changes and is updated continually. AI may do a good job anticipating the changes, but even AI won’t be perfect. It seems to me Bryan’s biggest challenge will be figuring out how to motivate people. Motivation changes as we age. I heard you mention “attractiveness” several times and at your age that is a perfectly reasonable motivation for foregoing the usual debauchery of youth. Bryan is longing to leave a legacy and make a novel contribution that years hence will be seen as a “genius” idea. For me, I’m just trying to stay as active as possible for as long as possible and keep my marbles. I am really enjoying watching Bryan’s plan and process unfold. He is charismatic and inspirational. As a sidenote, I live in the bay area and did the onsite clinical trials on one of the devices he has mentioned. Cool to see it adopted!

Tanken NMM, Resveratrol, TMG, Fisetine++for 6 month and have never felt better EVER. Sleep my 6-7hours like a baby, no dreams, jump right out of bed(You learned me) work long hard days with just water, fast 36-48 hours every 2. week, an only 2 meals a day. But Your wisdom and behavior have lifted me up to another soo exiting level an look forward to a Long and productive life when following Your wisdom, Thank You.

Thanks for sharing this great conversation. I can relate to Anya's struggle with living in LA on NY time. Apart from having to wake up early, it also means sacrificing social activities in the evenings. In my case, I've been prioritizing sleep over night outs since 2020 and it is not even a question anymore. Brian's advice is excellent; all you need to do is find like-minded people with similar priorities in life.

I think Anya is underestimating how easy it would be to find another job. With her career there are a plethora of positions. I think she is just looking for something simple first (biphasic sleep) instead of looking at the harder questions. I think fear of loneliness (missing out on night time activity etc) is a driving force in her hesitance to change. Wishing her the best on working through her questions. Side note: she is stunning my goodness.

I also wonder would it be possible for you or your team to come up with a kind of downgraded pill regiment, one that could fit into 200 or 300 USD per month? Which ones are the most essential and how would you do it on a limited budget? Just leaving this question here, I'm sure for a lot of people 1500 USD per month on dietary supplements is not feasible.

I love the format, but I would love some more content talking about how to implement the practical aspects of blueprint in my life. (I’m sold on the philosophical aspects) For example - How to prepare food and diet (almost like a cooking demonstration) How to access testing and then apply the results. How to make a schedule, and what things are important to apply to that schedule. Etc. I know I need to do a lot of this work as an individual, and I know that I can draw from the Blueprint website, but some guidance in a video format would really go a long way to helping me work towards my own personal autonomous self. (As a lot of us don’t have the time and resources to devote to the thought required to achieve a meaningful personal outcome)

Brian, I would love a discussion on contradictions with hustle culture. I've yet to come across anyone who is truly financially successful who didn't do hustle to make it happen. I have goals and limited time. How to reconcile this. Yes I may live longer. But I don't want a long period of time without finance. To get the finance, I'm building a company and it is really hard and very time demanding. How does one make a financial success without hustle? If your wealth were taken away and if your celebrity were taken away, how would you feel about hustle culture then? Say you add back in having little kids at the same time. Super interesting topic!

@Bryan Johnson thank you for the conversation. Could you tell me, is there a known way to target the content of the supplements using diet alone? For many, we would like to follow and join in with your efforts but would find the separate costs of supplementing unreachable. That is why I ask. If it could be done, it could improve some efficiency of conciseness in program delivery. On another note, I think it would be great if we could all share our health data.

And along the same lines as what Judd's saying, could you "show your work" on the diet/exercise measurements of blueprint? It's frustrating to hear that you include/exclude foods, amounts of foods, exercises "based on science" or "based on measurements", but then don't show each feedback loop. Like 1/4 Brazil nut in the nutty pudding, what measurements provoked that choice or adjusted it up/down? Same for all the foods and amounts and exercises. Sleep is pretty clear that it rocks, and that's why all people who perform for a living (athletes especially) are very similarly disciplined with sleep as Bryan.

Where is my comment where and I pointed out the fundamental flaw in Brian Johnson’s misnomer of “autonomous self“? And I follow that up by clearly explaining the problem of electronic health record management. The problem is that we normal people can’t do that on our own. You and I don’t have access to our own EHR where and we can import all of that electronic data from the various EHRs managed by various medical providers; silos of medical data. I want my comment back. Those are my words. They were well-thought, concise out and clearly articulated. Is Brian Johnson really that threatened that he has to go in to the administration section of his KZfaq to censor viewer comments, to hide them from himself, so that he can’t see them? Maybe if you can’t see the problems, they don’t exist.
