Exactlly! An awesome prop maker plus an extreme nerf professional could make a good team.... Maybe calling Lord Drac as a special guest or smthing.... Besides even drac made some functional prop guns in cosplays that he joined

As a Nerf Modifier, this video made me cry out in despair as you butchered so much of everything in this video. You could have done things so much more easily if you had unscrewed the blaster and parts. Also we never never never fuse both sides of the blaster's shell with glue.

Oh man, @Mica T, you were the one on the old unofficial nerf Facebook page who made that pulse rifle, weren't you? I remember you and one other guy were in a race to build it. I'm not understanding the angry comments haha as a cosplayer, I'd have to say that this is an awesome diy version. It fits most prop rules and regulations for conventions and it looks almost IDENTICAL. Who cares if it can't actually shoot...go buy a damn replica then!! I'd be kicked out of the con or asked to check my prop in and then there goes my whole outfit. WICKED VIDEO. I'm starting mine next week, will definitely credit you in photo ops etc

After I got out of the hospital and got my possessions back from the cops whomever recorded the items on the bag actually wrote "2 clips". Don't know exactly who it was but it was someone who worked for law enforcement in Texas, I do know that much. Doesn't that make you scratch your head? Haha

I LOVED THIS! I was a costumer in Hollywood for many and I would have to slap together stuff like this all the time. I think you nailed the spirit of the M41-A Pulse Rifle and I really enjoyed watching you make it. Fun stuff, Ripley would be proud!

No, it wouldn’t all you’d have to do is use a barrel material with a larger diameter than that on a nerf dart (ideally .75 inch or more). And since removed the priming slide, you’d have to gat a bolt conversion kit...

I honestly liked it, and this is a film prop not a functioning Nerf mod, it's supposed to look good on camera. You could easily put more time and money (if applicable) into it. This was NOT meant to be a functioning Nerf gun, bear that in mind.

It is based off of an m4/m4a1 carbine not a Thompson

The functioning Pulse Rifles were constructed from three real-world firearms - an M1A1 Thompson submachine gun as the rifle frame, and a cut-down Remington Model 870 covered with the handguard and slide action sleeve of a Franchi SPAS-12 for the grenade launcher

As much as I love this build, and this channel, and Dustin even! I wonder if I'm alone in thinking it feels like he hasn't actually seen "Aliens." Am I crazy? It doesn't matter, he's a craftsman of a very high calibre(pun unintended), but does anyone agree?

***** it makes no sense practically, but it was designed that way for the movie because it looks way cooler. if real life guns had digital ammo counters like that then yeah they would be on the other side, or perhaps even the back. but for a movie it just looks cooler there :P

For the painting of the cardboard shell, the actual shell of the gun can be either tan or green. The reason why it can be either is because the actual shell for the prop weapon was painted tan. Now, y'all are probably saying, 'But in the film, it's green.' That's because of the post-production color correction that was done on the film, which instead of keeping the tan color, the color correction turned it to green. If you see pictures of the real prop, you can see it has a tan shell. This often confuses people because they remember the shells being green. However, that's the difference between if you want to be accurate to the prop or be screen-accurate (meaning to how it appears in the film). But, either of the two colors are correct, depending on what you want to go.

Here's the thing, I can make a comment regarding the use of cardboard and if there's other material that would suit better, without having to make a video myself ;) Been collecting warhammer for 18 years and creating scenery with different materials, I know there's other stuff to use and I get that carboard is just easier to get a hold on, but I'm also a perfectionist and if I were to create such a weapon I would use that material. Now go back to your troll lair ;)

If you are even remotely interested in crafts, then you have this stuff. Probably could've gone to Goodwill and picked up a gun for a couple $.

Red T you don't need to have a workshop you could do this in your room I don't think you even need to buy a Nerf gun it probably find a similar gun at the Dollar Store and glue gun and a glue stick is at the dollar store for like a couple dollars you don't have to use superglue you could just use a glue gun that way you don't have to use an accelerator and the spray painter probably be the only thing expensive about this project because they cost about $10 also cardboard doesn't cost money and you don't even need to use PVC pipes you could just wrap up tubes of cardboard or you could just wrap up tubes of foam

it's not convincing, it still looks like a nerf gun with some cardboard glued on. perhaps some pvc adhesive around the edges of the cardboard to make a smoother edge?

You are really good at this stuff. My two cents... I would have used a real digital display. I know it's DIY on the cheap but for me I'd rather go the extra mile and pay more to make it look like the movie. Especially if it's going to be displayed as a prop in my home. I'm picky though.

I would even go further that when you pull the trigger (it doesn't even have to move), a soundfile would play the noise it makes in the movie, and the digital display would count down :D

That is a great prop looks pretty on point. M41a pulse rifle magazines are usually scaled back to 95 from 99 as the 10 mm explosive tip caseless rounds tend to jam at 99 round in the magazine the colonial marines found that dropping it to a 95 count stopped a lot of the jamming issues. Anyway so I have heard

he glues the clip in because he took the part of the top that cocks the gun, made it the shot gun pump, when you take that part off the gun wont hold the clip in anymore, i agree shitty deal its fixed but if it wasnt it would not stay in for sure

Wrong, the Orange button on the side in front of the trigger does all the work to hold the Magazine in place, there is a "hook" on the inside that slots into a hole on the magazine. The slide has nothing to do with it.

Ho boy, does it look like a piece of cake making the cardboard shroud, but bugger me sideways if it isn't by far THE most intricate and tricky part of the entire build. Probably took Dustin a couple days, including paint-drying times n having a family, but I'm still floundering about like a ten-thumbed chump weeks into it! I doff my cap to these talented artisans; they earn every penny x

Just think about it. It wouldn't take much more than a slightly larger Barrel to keep it working. That surely keeps in the range of artistic liberty.

Jan Klinkenberg He's trying to make it cheaper and accurate. Besides, if you don't glue the magazine, scope, ect down, it's probably going to slip off. Even if you don't goue it diwn, the paint will make the magazine non functional.

u dont need a license in Germany and yes a nerf gun on its own is cheaper but not everybody has the equipment to craft one like in the video, so that means you have to buy it and that makes it more expensive
