I don’t need a new multitool, but I really just want to support what Roxon is doing. I’m picking one up. This type of innovation needs to be rewarded.

They need a minimalist handle: no pliers, 2 slots thick and will accept 2 long and 2 short tools. That would be very appealing to a lot of people…

It's just incredible that a completely unknown company came up with this !! I liked the idea of the GOAT but they screwed up the design, it's a block. But the Roxon is really smooth and contoured and incredibly versatile ! The other fantastic feature is, you can buy replacements for broken tools !! So impressed !!

This is cool as it gets, Im a Leatherman fan boy and wish they would do something like this but can you imagine how much they would charge for a implement

Mine just arrived and I’m super happy! One note about the fish scaler, though. I have mine installed because of the end. It’s super useful to have a pusher/puller for small things in tight spaces. Also, you don’t need to worry about cleaning it if you use it on fish because you can just take it out of the frame and use it separately! I kinda want to go back and get a couple more tools to try them out, also.

I'm half tempted to buy one with a bladeless tool set, just to encourage them to support that use case. :-)

I’ve been thinking about getting a custom SAK for a while now, but this is even better because it supports a company that seems to be worth supporting! They kind of remind me of what Knafs does; encouraging you to take apart your tool and modify it with your own custom parts Edit: just preordered one

The next generation of this one could become very interesting.

the fact they are selling blanks makes me think that Roxon is moving in the right direction with this multitool allowing people to mod it how they want it making specialist tools for their given niche. I would however love the option to have a separate handle that you could put the scalpel in to for finesse work or the bit driver to have a more ergonomic screwdriver or the files just to have a more comfortable handle on the files even the scissors so its more slimline and not getting caught up on the bulk of the multitool. I'm a furniture maker and have a non standard tool set need for a multitool and this fits the bill for me cant wait to get one and mod that small serrated blade in to a kiridashi style marking knife.

I can already see more extra short third party tools to fit right next to larger hex/torx implements that take up 2 spaces.

They could also do a small screwdriver handle that has a locking system that accepts a tool

I bought the $6 dollar small Cabela's multi-tool 4 years ago and I installed the tools I want from a small Leatherman multi-tool. ✅ The small Cabela's multi-tool has star screws that allows it to be taken apart easily.

Hm, I really like the idea, I just have two issues with it as of now: 1.) The 4 tools you mentioned happen to somehow fit, the tool is NOT designed for 4 long implements and the website clearly states 2 long implements (and also their configurator only works with 2 long implements) - so this is more of a hit-and-miss off-label use, where you have to know and experiment which tool you can combine with which. 2.) How much does the tool weigh? It looks pretty heavy(?) I guess that's my "biggest" gripe with it: I LOVE that I can customize it, but fully equipped it will cost around 100 bucks. Which is fine, but for my personal use case, I really just don't have a workplace requiring me to use tools daily and for private use I just want something as light as possible with the tools I really need - so this whole customization to me would make a lot more sense on a low weight, smaller frame. I used to carry a Wave and it was actually already more than I wanted to EDC. But it had the tools I would want. For use cases where I don't really care about size or weight I would likely rather buy a cheaper "full fledged" tool to just keep in my car or at home. So while I really LOVE the idea and also the price point (I know I mentioned it's 100 bucks, but I think it's still pretty "cheap" for a fully customizable and especially open sourced tool)... I am afraid it's just not for me. Which is fine. ^^

I pretty much ordered mostly what you say to get with a few exceptions. Looking forward to getting it. Roxon is rocking on! I really like their knife with all the blades.

I have to give it to Roxon, they really outdid themselves here. This is a wonderful looking tool. Have not seen it in person yet but I have already ordered one on the website and ordered most of the tools to go with it. The one handed blade is the only thing I wish they would have done and then it would be a perfect tool for me as well.

I would use the long scalpel implement, because you then have a good handle if the hole multitool does not fit.

I wish the flash had tools that could be swapped. D2 , one hand open blade. I have several Roxon tools. The knife that can change blades on is awesome!!! I grab the flash without thinking about it. Good size , good tools.

Man this is such a game changer. There are tools that are on multitools, that I never ever use on a daily basis, but there are times when I need them for a few days. Like a can opener. Useful when on a camping trip, but not much else. If im going camping I want a small and lightweight can opener, but for normal daily use I wouldnt. With this, I can just swap out something I wouldnt need on a camping trip and bring a can opener instead. Same goes for a ferro rod, saw, etc.

Finally, I get a main 4 of blade, file, scissors and saw in an easy to use unit. plus a decent choice of small tools. what is not to like. I look at all my Multitools and think why do I have to modify , chop and change to get what I want and then, Bamm along it comes. Cheers

Just for those curious, if you buy one frame, and one of each implement, it's $220.00 total before tax/shipping. But, you're going to have a lot of extra implements. So either a second, or even third frame to hold them all, or be more selective and only get what you need. Personally, I love the idea of the design, I did pick up a GOAT, which is good, but not great. That said, I'll probably wait and see on this one. Roxon is a pretty solid innovator, so I won't be shocked to see some serious improvements in future designs.

I am definitely happy about the bicycle spoke tool. I am going to wait for a while, to see if more tools come out. I want to buy once, cry once. The chisel is definitely awesome. I will probably end up putting the bicycle tool and phillips in my pocket tool pouch, that I keep 1/4 inch bits in and the rest keep in the tool. This way if I need any optional tools, I will be able to switch them out. You could do the same with the file, can opener and the hex bits, if you want to have it for just in case situation, but don't want it in the tool all the time. Because of that, I definitely want this. You could even put the bit holder in your pocket tool pouch and have 3 more small tools in and change them out, when you need the bit driver. I just now thought about that. 😀 I hope the make a T Shank holder

It just needs a 1/4 inch hex driver plug-in. Yes it would take up several spaces, but it would be worth it - at least for me.

Victorinox has a SAK for everyone at this point. The only thing holding them back is modern bias against classic/traditional looking & feeling tools.

When you get the bit adapter for this tool, you should compare it to the one from the GOAT. Also compare the two scissors.

t6, t8 and t10 bits would be awesome

I’d like to see some type of dedicated extra tool storage that could hold a bunch of unused tools, as well as some 1/4” bits...Especially if it was incorporated into a belt sheath.. Then one could have access to a lot more options, if one was willing to sheath carry the tool. I’d also like to see a dedicated full length pry bar made from tool steel.

Seems like I would really like this over my goat tool. Wished this one came in black or at least with black scales.

I love the modularity here and that it's not in a #Cr crap steel. Excited to get a tool that has what I want but nothing I don't need especially the blade.

I really love this modular future we're heading. My only nitpick about it, and this applies to GOAT as well, is those release levers/tabs, I know modularity is the main selling point but having them obnoxiously out like they're supposed to be the most accessible part of the tool is a miss for me. Easiest access should be reserved for the most used tools like the drivers, scissors, or knife.

They should make a thin handle that you can put one tool in or maybe one on each end... you could pull saw, scaler, file out of main unit, pit it in "handle" and rock it like a blade..put it back in big tool when clean and done....

I imagine there are some doctors and EMTs out there that like the piece of mind that the long scalpel holder gives them. the long one is much more usable if you take it out of the tool. so it's probably better for emergency medical interventions, like a tracheostomy or to fix a collapsed lung.

A good hack, it still doesn't really bother me tho that it supposed to hold 2 long tools as its easy to swap them out. A nice really well designed pouch with some slots for spare tools and a 1/4 inch bit set would compliment this tool well , or even better a small hard case for spare tools and spaces for 1/4 inch bits. Unless it has a secondary use I will not bother with any of the screwdriver tools and just use the 1/4 inch bit holder.

For the hex drivers I was thinking if you could use the 6mm with a 1/4 to 1/4 hex adapter. This would be a slimmer way than the actual bit attachment to use 1/4 bits.

very interesting, specially they released the CAD file. I just downloaded those, i wonder if i can do keys as one of the tools. i don't need another multi tool, but if this can replace my key organizer. I used to use keysmart, but those have tension issue, always loosen up. then i found Screwpop Tether, very clever using o-ring to tension up without screws. but the o-ring will snap overtime. I have been looking for something that can lock my key, but the options are very limited and usually quite bulky

They've got the unserrated knife just backwards; I want the spine straight, and the belly on the edge. Crosscut must be much coarser, like so bitey at first that it needs some breaking in. That'll get a lot of work done fast, and as a bonus will provide increased longevity as a capable file.

would love to see a sim card removal tool, a utility knife/standard box cutter blade holder/quick disconnect USB holder/ and a module to make the unit itself thicker to hold more things, and a module to hold their standard Larger scissors that they have on their multi-tools as well. Does the magnetic bit holder take a mini ratcheting wrench as well?

I wonder if they will make a replaceable plier head next! Swap it for wire stripping plier, or shears! Or add in Leathermans file/saw exchanger!

Great video! I am planning to use S501U for Saw and Scissors. With the Flex, is it possible to have both files on the outside, each next to a blade? I saw the scissors did not fit perfectly on one side, but wondered if a blade might fit perfectly in its place since I am getting the scissors elsewhere.

I don’t think I saw you operate the 4 long tools. I’ll rewatch. I can one hand all 4 long tools on the GOAT. Even before I added thumbstuds. I do have my modified long blade in between an outside long tool and the plier head like you did with/the 2 long tools. I do have to nailnick my modded blade out. I don’t currently do any swapping now that I have things where I want them. I do often take out the long handled craftblade to use it separately. Roxon does have more tool options and I like how the ordering set up is. GOAT is working on a t-shank and a sak like no plier tool. All decent multitool tools are pretty much going to function the same as each other. So along with personalizing the outside appearance and frame & tool finishes; I still think goat is the preferred option for me.

Four long tools has me ready to pull the trigger, BUT -- will the long scalpel tool also fit in the number two spot next to a file or saw? It seems like it would be tapered enough to nest next to the pliers without interfering, but I don't think you mentioned it in the video and it's hard to tell without seeing it up close. Thanks.

I didn't purchase the arc specifically because it doesn't have the pull cutter. It is SUPER helpful for cutting zip ties quickly and safely.

how accurate is the fitting tolerence on the tools? does it produce any play after installation and during use? Im interested but i would rather wait for a long term review. I can never bear with sloppy tolerences cuz it makes the tools feel floppy
