Build Your Own Quarantine Punching Bag! Less than $25 or Even Free!!

If you're wanting a CHEAP (maybe FREE) option to hit a punching bag while training at home with our online training sessions, we've got you covered! Shannon decided to build himself a cheap DIY punching bag for the live-stream online classes during the COVID-19 quarantine.
Why didn't he use one of his professional quality bags? Because many of his students don't have one!!
This bag works more like a double-ended bag than a heavy bag, which forces you to work your head movement and footwork (BONUS)!! Grab your cheap materials and get to crafting!
This should take you 1-2 hours, so everyone should have time for it!!
Materials Needed:
1. Old Dog Bed / Pillow Case / Cloth Laundry Bag
2. Old Clothes / Towels / Sheets / etc.
3. Duct Tape
4. Durable Pad (puzzle mat, yoga mat, etc)
5. Rope
6. Belt
7. Floor Weight (weight plate, 50lb dog food, etc)

Stuff some old pillows into a trash bag or cloth hamper, tie it with a rope, and hang it from a sturdy branch or other support. If you want it double-ended, use a second rope to tie the bottom to a cinder block or other heavy object. Done! No tape, no dog bed, no extra material. 👌👍

Seems good, light enough to take with you. I live near a park, and they have an outside boxing gym. But the town took down the punching bags when the pandemic hit, and I really missed going there to get my bagwork in. I'd love to make this so I can take it with me to the park and hang it up there, get my workout in, and be able to bring it home afterwards.

Growing up on a farm we always doubled up a couple feed sacks and filled them with old leaves sand and straw. We had them hanging all over the farm. And they can get really heavy really fast. Sometimes it would rake 2 guys to hold it up while the other tied it of from a barn rafter.

This is actually an excellent idea. Use sand bags, wrap with floor mats. Tape it. Hang it and bind it to the ground.

I made one with a very long pillow case. Stuffed it full of torn cloth and tape it because without the tape the seams will rip on the pillow case

Honestly bro, this is very ingenious. I made a punch bag a few weeks ago, I rolled up a duvet and a sandbag weight (approx 15lbs) and put it in the duvet and then wrapped it up in a sheet. It lasted a few days but the sheet tore and the weight was actually a horrible surprise when I went to uppercut it. I thought there would be enough padding but the weight slipped through. But yeah, I never thought to anchor it down instead. I hope you made more videos and did well out of it because you clearly had a good idea with this ",)

Who needs boxing gloves? Heavy-duty padded gloves, like ski gloves or thorn-proof garden gloves, will work just fine. Bare-knuckle is something you need to take slow, like jumping into cold water.

You could just tie it on the bottom. But running it through the bottom makes it stronger and more rigid. You can be creative though and try it out both ways, or another way altogether. Thanks for watching!

You could try any sporting goods store locally, possibly online via Amazon. If you're into buying second-hand items locally, Craigslist, Offer Up, Facebook Marketplace usually has those items for sale (just follow proper safety procedures if you're meeting someone).

I'd recommend you buy a body sized pillow. But if you don't already have one, just use a regular one (or 2 or 3), and put them in a large, thick cloth bag or garbage bag. Then just wrap it with enough foam or tape to make it rigid. Be creative. You can't really mess it up. Try a few options and get back to me. Thanks!
